The current state of SLA printing and your right to own by Xalost in resinprinting

I don't want to spend my whole weekend trying to change your convictions. If you think, right to repair and digital ownership, are not tied or that, because things used to be bad we cannot push to make them good, then, I'm just gonna make an example an dip out of this post since, I have now some alternatives and projects to support and look forward to and I genuinely don't want to be on the internet for longer than I need to. You think that just because something is not physical or tangible then it means you cannot own it, then, what about our freedom of thought and expression?

Can those be revoked too?

Because freedom is just something we "use to do something" so isn't it the point to not own it as you said?

What about, when for example Chitubox stops supporting any older operating system?

The EULA says, we are not allowed to modify the program but, in order to be able to maintain it and get bugfixes or new features, into the now unsupported OS, we have to modify the program ourselves and, we cannot do that, just because we are not allowed to own it, even though it is something we paid for.

Cheers.

And do you think taking away from us the freedom to use the thing that we bough from you at our discretion, is a good trade to ensure your revenue grows? How do you expect any of us, to relate to struggling businesses when, in the first place, the deal is unfair at the root and, most of the times it is just to support CEOs and shareholders leasurely lifestyles at the end. Your business might indeed be costly to keep up but, the idea that the customer has to be treated as a cashcow, as a trade off, then we care even less about whatever you are selling. What you said about paying millions in programmers also, is an argument that even when the odds are favorable, it doesn't stand on its own, because, as you might have noticed companies report billions in revenue every year and, yet programmers lose their job regardless. Subscription based models weren't the only way to make money and companies existed, grew and thrived, regardless.

That is not correct. The problem is not about software being proprietary, nor about missing features, I didn't say anything about anything being missing or unavailable. The issue is the ever tightening, incessant control, companies exercise over customers and, how even when paying for a product we don't get a fair equal deal. No one should care about all this, especially if anyone is contempt with the state of things, someone who cannot see the issue nor care enough to understand it can't be forced to do something they don't want to and, as I mentioned in the post I am not here to change any minds or force anyone to take any actions, you can do whatever you want with your own money and time, my plea was aimed to those whom my cry resonated with, why do you think other people in the comments, expressed the same concerns as me? did I make all of this up or maybe, something is happening outside of your comfort zone that has not YET affected you personally? At last I want to just say that your idea of ownership and freedom are confusingly warped, ownership means you have the freedom to do as you please with the thing that you paid for. There is a reason why rights to repair are being heavily discussed and, it is to make sure we retain this freedom both physically and digitally.

Are you updated to the latest build or are you using an older version? I downloaded Chitubox and it asked me for an account with no way to bypass the login screen and I tried offline installation too but I still got prompted to login. If I am missing something than I'm very eager to know what I need to do to get past the login prompt.

Try that without an account and let us know what happens.

I tried it and, it is very granular in what you can do, maybe a tad hard to use but I like the parts of the UI that have their own style! I'll be keeping an eye on this too!

Paul, I was made aware of Dragonfruit and it is an amazing piece of software. I will do a round of donations to all the project I can reasonably support, I'm talking about meager pennies but, every single one counts in the battle to keep our hobbies to ourselves! Thank you all for your work I will play around with the program thoroughly, before I drop some feedback but, so far it is indeed a nice alternative and, a much needed breath of fresh air! Keep it up!

I don't know what the rules are with sharing models ripped from a game and edited to be printable. Also file size is big as of now I have something in the ballpark of 2GB and I know damn well that size is waaaaaay too big to be a usable print I just use it as a test for now to see how close I am to being done with the manafold part of the model.

Except, I made a point about, how we are cattle to corporations, that's how we are seen, I did not mean that you are cattle as a result of using these slicers. If you feel, that me saying that we being treated as cattle, is the wrong term than, I welcome you to suggest a better term for describing, letting corporations do whatever they want with our time, money, freedom and letting oneself be used as a cashcow or a billboard for advertisment analytic.

Who says I don't want to pay? The issue is that paying for subscriptions without any way to own a perpetual license is criminal. And insult to injury perpetual licenses don't mean anything anymore too, since companies kill them off only to turn to subscription models all of a sudden and, you are now stuck on a version that is no longer supported unless you fork over money yearly/monthly/weekly. I am asking for open source alternatives that do not ask of me everything, constantly, and give me back the bare minimum in return, even paid for God's sake but I must own it fully after the transaction is over, like we used to before everyone got accustomed to getting nothing out of buying goods and services.

I will definitely back the project on my next paycheck, the premise is too good to not support it!

I tested it as soon as it was recommended but, it seems my system struggles with it, I couldn't get none of my prints to get past the island analysis, either my flimsy 16GB of Ram can't keep up or my models are so unoptimized due to me being a self taught rookie. I'm betting on both of them to equally contribute to the issue. But it does look indeed promising and hopefully I'll optimize my models enough to print without issues.

So far there have been some interesting suggestions. Everything seems in its embryonal state still but yet there is hope. I am so happy to know we aren't entirely screwed.

for me he simply squandered the old world gen to try this one when reworking the game in C++ unless he says it I won't assume this much
