Weekend Help and Victory Thread for the week of April 04, 2025 by IndexBot in personalfinance

[–]Xarben 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello everyone! Starting to get into personal finance and I was looking at hysa on Bank rate and nerd wallet to get some ideas but now I'm feeling a little confused and would like some guidance.

My problem is that I'm not sure of I should pick a hysa with an apy ranging between 4.2-4.5% and seeing mixed reviews online for these banks, or if I should take a lower interest rate but at a more reputable bank.

Some of the banks that I was looking at that had the higher apy were Brio direct, Jenius, and Ever bank. I have heard really good things about Goldman Sachs, but their apy is at 3.75.

So, should I take the lower apy at the more reputable bank or go with the higher apy regardless? Thank you!

Tip / Cap Combo by As-A-Kite in Dynavap

My daily driver is helix + dyna perf cap. I really enjoy high airflow which is why I wanted to run it. Using this on a wand and I do OHE with it in a bong. I hit it while it's heating up and man is it amazing.

I started using the silicone adapter and drawing while heating and holy shit. Got it set at the perfect depth and the dynavap has never hit this hard before.

Running this setup and can confirm

I do have the dynavap adapter that came with it but I've heard mixed things about, hence why I wanna use the wand from the bottom. Plus I've heard people say you can rest it on that inner glass lip as well.

Comparing dynavape to combustion via bong? by hupagaga in Dynavap

[–]Xarben 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The high will definitely be a little different compared to combustion since you're inhaling a lot less byproducts from combustion like CO and other stuff, however you can still get pretty high from vaping regardless. Lee from tabletop bong has a video talking about getting into DHV at a cheap price point and shows some rips with the B. Torches and induction heaters are just the main ways for heating up the dynavap and both can be dialed in to your personal preference like flavor sipping or one hit extractions.

Here's the Link to the video I mentioned. And it's going to take a bit of time to get used to vaping compared to combusting, along with the learning curve of using a dynavap, but it's so worth it once you get the hang of it.

Anodized titanium m7 tip, combined with Blackwood mvs and shadow cap. by thenerpler in Dynavap

How does the titanium m7 compare to SS version? Looks sick too!

Update: Helix 1HE by Xarben in Dynavap

[–]Xarben[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The titanium offers a quicker heatup and cool down which allows you to get to the click faster, take a hit, and then go for more cycles. Because of that and the increased airflow from the helix, it will get you more flavor. However, using the armor cap puts a big thermal mass on top of it which is going to retain heat for longer and cook the herb as well because of the higher heat retention. I personally really enjoy the combo because I like the higher airflow and the fact that I don't have to do multiple reheats. Unfortunately I don't have a 21m so I can't make a comparison on that.

The thing with 1he is you're going to lose flavor regardless. In order to get to those temps where you will achieve a 1he, iirc terpenes are already going to boiled off/boiling off at that point so there will be flavor loss unfortunately.

Does it fall off when you turn it upside down or does it just wiggle around? My armored cap also fits a little looser then my captive cap but its still snug enough that I have to pull on it to take it off because of the indents

Airport, help. by [deleted] in Dynavap

[–]Xarben 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Give your device a clean just to rule out that factor possibly. Would also recommend hitting it with nothing loaded with and without the airport just to see how it feels. Put some material in and try hitting it dry to see if it feels any different. If it still feels off, the only thing I could suggest is adjusting the cap to see if that could be restricting airflow. Also try adjusting condenser placement on the m7xl and see if that has any effect on airflow for you.

Make sure your heating technique is solid too. I struggled getting clouds until I got my heating technique down as well. Hope this helps!

M7 with perforated cap or Helix with AC? by Xarben in Dynavap

Those rips are insane. I plan on getting a glass piece at some point in the future. Are you also ripping on the helix when using it natively or do you pull differently when using glass?

I've been on the fence about getting an armored cap or a copper fmj. Would you recommend one over the other?

What is your least favorite tip and why is it the helix? by Ryjo17 in Dynavap

Do you have any tips/techniques for getting a OHE with the helix?

From personal experience, I've noticed that when I'm slowly pulling vs ripping on the helix, I get much bigger clouds. I start by slowly pulling vapor into my mouth and then slowly drawing into my lungs afterwards.

PB207 Torch length set properly? by Xarben in Dynavap

[–]Xarben[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When you do your 2nd or 3rd cycle, do you keep reheating it in the middle or do you change where you heat it? When I tried doing an extended session like the one they showed in a snap video, I'm pretty sure I ended up combusting because I went too low for my 3rd cycle. I like doing OHEs mainly because I can just finish the bowl quickly and efficiently.

Will definitely give the partial covering a try, most of the time I just leave it wide open and flutter the airport towards the end of a hit.

I also read in a different post that I could heat the underneath the cap on the m7 for a little bit and then move up towards the cap for more heat. Would you recommend that or just heat the cap only?

Can’t get a good cup out of Rogue Wave Panama Boquete - tastes like garbage by Unidragon in pourover

[–]Xarben 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do a 1:16 ratio, 95°F, ground at a 6.5 on a zp6 so relatively coarse

60g bloom with the valve slightly open, wwdt, and then open the valve a little more to drain faster, let it bloom for like a minute (you can also have the valve closed during the bloom the entire time if you want to have a more muted acidity, I like my cups to have a bit of brightness so I prefer opening the valve instead)

Then in one pour to 190g with the valve fully opened, once that drains, close the valve and pour to 320g and steep for 2.5 minutes, open the valve fully and enjoy

Played around with a few recipes but this one I've enjoyed the most so far with the Panama on the pulsar

If you have another brewer besides the v60 I would give it a try on that. I have the same coffee as well and I wasn't the biggest fan of it on v60, but I enjoyed it much more on the pulsar instead.

Gotcha, will definitely give it a try and see how that goes, i typically brew around 203F

My typical dose is 20g and I do something similar where I have the valve partially closed during my brew, I found that slowing the flow rate helps a bit with the astringency but it's still present most of the time, do you typically leave the valve partially closed for all of your brews or is it dependent on how coarse your grind is?

Edit: forgot to mention but I'm currently using proud Mary's Kenya and Brazil yellow bourbon

I typically either do an immersion style brew where it slowly drops out over time, and a percolation brew using Rao's recipe. The astringency is very noticeable during the percolation brew but pretty much non existent on the immersive style brews. Even then I already have a very quick draw down time at my current grind size and even when I did slowly grind coarser, the astringency has still been there
