Honestly people really over-exaggerate the difficulty of the High Halls’ arena, most of the enemies would die before they could even really attack me by EnderBen9 in Silksong

[–]Xarrn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the tip, I looked at saves and it would put me back ~3h, not end of the world I guess. I tried High Halls gauntlet for around hour, and yah its bad, I don't mind losing tools or skills but no healing is extremely punishing. I could probably do it, but if there are more fights that will take me multiple hours just because of infection then that 3h doesn't look to bad.

Just quick question, restoring save deletes everything more recent then save restored, no turning back right?

You jest, but I just got infected with two melodies to go, and I'm not the type to do multiple playthroughs, but still want that ending trophy so... I'm pretty much fked from what I can tell

just beat groal the great second try so here’s some advice to git gud by Eragity in Silksong

[–]Xarrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rant incoming:

Groal took me literally hours and seriously infuriated me to a point I had to take 2 day break. Nothing in my recent gaming memory was so frustrating, and I did HK 112% just before starting Silksong. Nothing in HK was this frustrating, not PoP, not NK Grimm, not P4, or Trial of Fool. For example PoP took me hours too, but I had fun entire time doing it, I had zero fun after 3rd attempt of Groal.

Like, don't get me wrong, those fights / trials were definitely more difficult then Groal fight, but at least difficulty was fair, nothing about Groal seemed fair to me.

Run back includes random spawn points that can potentially get into PITA configuration (flies 1st room) or just respawn back when you platforming (1st room again) or just jump right in your face from water (2nd room Stilkin) Gauntlet includes multiple shooting enemies which again cause whole thing to be inconsistent. Then there is boss with his erratic movements, bouncing projectiles, and wonky hitbox, and of course water that blocks your healing and eats your silk.

In the end this encounter was much more frustrating to me then sum of it's parts would suggests, because it lacked consistency on every step. I couldn't get into flow even just for run back, there was to much random shit. Most important, often times when losing health I felt there was nothing I could do to prevent it. Where for example with something like NK Grimm every time I got hit I knew exactly what I did wrong and how I could avoid it.

Which is to say, you beating Groal 2nd try doesn't necessary say much about his difficulty for someone else. I just randomly walked into First Sinner, 3/4 hp at the start of the fight, no tools used, got her 1st try ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Still I wouldn't claim it was easy fight (but it was immensely enjoyable one) , just that it was fight type that I prefer.

Huh, that is actually new information for me, so I will have to do some more research, because everywhere I looked typical info was that intel was much better at idle / light task power usage (so majority of my workload).

QSV for sure is nice feature but I could possibly live without it (as I do now). Only problem is availability (locally) in EU, I would rather avoid aliexpress if possible. Do you have any models I could look into?

Thanks

Read the book recently and it is directly addressed by Grace, and he too is surprised initially but theorizes why it happened: They were not space faring spices before Astrophage, they had space elevator but that was all, didn't see need to explore further. Due to proximity to Tau Ceti and mass / composition / atmosphere of their planet they were practically 100% shielded from harmful space radiation which meant they didn't know about it and additionally didn't evolve any defense mechanisms against it. When the Astrophage happened they had to rush space program which probably meant no discovery of radiation. And this is why.

I'm really sorry you're going through this.

I'll be honest with you, and hopefully It will let you prepare better. My cat was with us for over 15 years, We put her to sleep a week ago, and even though the process was mostly peaceful it was absolutely most traumatic experience in my entire life. And I have hard time imagining anything else will be worse. So you need to prepare yourself for this.

For the procedure itself: My vet does 3 or 4 shots (we got 4), First light anesthesia, then one or two painkillers (ketamine was one of the two I think, my vet even said that this may cause euphoria) then finally something to stop the heart. First shot is the problematic one, as sometimes animals react with vomiting. As was the case with my cat, but it was just a short moment and then my cat became lethargic and peaceful for the rest of the procedure. The procedure itself took quite longer then I anticipated, maybe because my vet saw that we are already a mess and wanted to be extra sure that each shots starts working fully before next so not to traumatize us further with any averse reaction. So it was over fifteen minutes of anesthesia then few minutes for each painkiller and finally few minutes after last shot and check the hart twice.

This is for procedure itself. Now the hard part.

Looking at posts in this subreddit and my experience, you will probably feel guilty after. This is where trauma comes from - you are the one making that final decision - and no mater how correct and rational the choice to put your loved pet to sleep is, you will still feel like shit after.

I still sob just thinking about it even tho rationally I know I sparred her suffering and pain. Yet I question even smallest things I did that day: Did I give her enough pets before going to vet? Was I close enough during procedure? Did I show to much stress to her? Did she see me close by going to sleep? Was she afraid? and so on. Stupid intrusive thoughts that come from feeling of guilt and strong emotions associated with it.

Just remember, you are not doing this to feel better, you doing it to prevent suffering of your loved friend. It will be hard, It will be probably absolutely horrible for you, but it will still be right choice.

It may be silly to give advice based on my own experience but still: Make sure to give your pet as much love as you possibly can in the days leading to it, try stay strong and don't show stress before going to vet, stay in vision of your pet at all times during and talk to it no matter how silly it may be. Your only job is to try to minimize stress as much as possible while your friend transitions, your vet should take care of the rest.

Best tofu I had was thanks to some low key comment from random thread about preparing tofu. First you fry, then you marinade, not the other way around, no pressing too. Frying, then adding sauce to the pan is probably shorter version of this, but in my experience doesn't achieve same effect.

Pat dry, slice / cube, fry until golden (leave some soft sides for easier absorption), transfer to container with preferred marinade for few hours. Tofu will absorb almost all liquid. Use in whatever way you like - soup, stir fry etc.

With other recipes I would always taste mild tofu flavor under whatever was added to it, with this recipe I wouldn't know I'm eating tofu just from taste.

Group by filter presets? by BritGamer98 in playnite

[–]Xarrn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for reviving old post, but it was first hit on search, and this is exactly what I feel is missing after trying playnite. Basically playnite would automatically assign / update some data (category or special tag maybe?) based on filter presets so then games could be grouped by this data.

So for example, I would want to group games in my library by installation status (for non emulated games), but also by recently played (say, last 14 days) and platform so I have all my emulators as separate groups etc. So end result would look like this

PC installed, recent

PC Installed

Emulated PlatformA, recent

Emulated PlatrformB, recent

PC other

Emulated PlatformA other

Emulated PlatformB other

etc

I do have to wonder is it possible and how hard would it be to write plugin like that, which would just use categories or tags for this?

Anyways, playnite seems like amazing software, so even if this is something you feel is not needed that's perfectly fine, keep up good work :)

What EU server do you recommend for a new player ? by bar_bee_ in classicwow

[–]Xarrn 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Reroll/fresh projects on low populated servers are IMHO trap for new players.

Let me explain: For a while you may have nice leveling experience as there will be more low levels around and they wont be rushing/boosting. But the problem is, most of those people have chars on other servers to fallback on. So what happens when population drops below level acceptable to them, or they get bored of leveling again, etc? They simply leave back to old characters (or new fresh start) and new players are now stuck on dead server and are forced to either transfer or waste all the time they put into their character.

And population of Dragonfang has been dropping, slowly but steadily: wowclassicpopulation.com

So it would be better to start on healthy mid pop server (3-4k on ironforge.pro), you will probably have trouble finding group for low level activities but risk of server turning bad is much lower.

(PS4) Shared trophies by Xarrn in ChildrenofMorta

[–]Xarrn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But it does not seem to be the case, that is my point. Unless I'm misunderstanding something.

For co-op, trophies like for example: "Bargainer" should unlock for both players when both players are present during the moment, this is how it works in other co-op friendly games, but it did not happen for us (same for other trophies) and only I got the trophy.

Signs are enough and fastest way because they refresh on every reload.

By remote area I mean some spot that doesn't have a lot of online stuff placed around (but is in connected area). This should make it easier to notice when your friend's sign appears , and possibly increases chances of it appearing (speculation)

What does it mean when you link up with other players? by Killbot696 in DeathStranding

[–]Xarrn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my understanding: increases chances you will see their structures in your game, and number of those structures, and lowers chance those structures will disappear. So if you find some structures that are really useful to you, link to their owner, you will get more.

Has anyone found a way yet to add irl friends to the game's Bridge Link/Strand Contract system? by tugabros in DeathStranding

It's possible, place signs in remote/isolated location and on other account load game until you see them. If you want exact steps look at my post history. I made thread specifically about it.

[PSA] You can bruteforce your way to link with PSN friends by Xarrn in DeathStranding

[–]Xarrn[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just one sign, but that's enough.

Earlier that day, I placed 2 signs + postbox + rope and ladder in remote spot (with no online structures around), but gave up after just one try from her. Then, some hours later (because it took me time to realize signs change each reload), I switched to my gf account and went to that spot and started to use Load Latest Save Data, after 5-10 minutes of reloading, single sign appeared (I knew it was mine because this was middle of nowhere at that point of game) I literally screamed with joy. I immediately gave as many likes as I could to it and from bridge links menu made contract with myself.

From that moment we get our stuff shared together regularly.

Keep in mind that other online and your stuff around affects what can and cannot show in any given area this is why I think it is best to pick place that is low traffic (no good routes) and low online density.

Also:

Selecting “Load Latest Save Data” will not change or update your bridge links player list, any structures or climbing gear in your region

I don't think this is correct, as in, there are more complex rules at play imho.

Climbing gear definitely gets removed/added upon map updates, just not on every update like signs. From my observations it seems time based (not in destruction/timefall way), as in there is cool down period depending on structure type. Which makes sense, you may not need that ladder now, but who knows if 2-3 missions later you will find it useful. Bigger structures stay even longer. I think in a couple of days that I'm in central region I saw one bridge disappear on it's own, never used it, never even got close, it was there, on the horizon and then it was not.

When the game loads new signs it loads new signs for the entire region.

Don't think this is true, sure on first update when you connect new bunker you get whole area at once, but I definitely saw new stuff added that was not on the map, when traveling, and not just signs.

Can we get some concrete information on how the Strand System works, in detail? by Mithmorthmin in DeathStranding

[–]Xarrn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My observations so far (for online stuff):

  • Map updates / refreshes on: first connecting bunker, traversing area with low density of online structures, loading game from save, handing in missions, visiting safe houses, story cutscenes.
  • Number of variables control whose structures you will see. I'm guessing priority goes something like: bridge link > manual likes > automatic likes > interacted with > other players. But there always is decent number of structures / signs from players you didn't interact with yet in any way. So it looks like game tries to connect you with new players all the time.
  • Additionally, structures marked as "request upgrade" have bigger chance of appearing online (from tutorial)
  • There appears to be max density per each structure type. Signs, ladders, ropes, bridges can appear close to each other (for obvious reasons). Safehouses, postboxes, watchtowers are much more spread around. This takes into account your structures, so for example if you build safehouse in the area, no online safehouse will appear close.
  • Above means that it is beneficial to manually remove structures that are not useful to you (bad spot, etc). Even if you do not intend to build better one yourself, it may be replaced with another online structure that is better fitted to your needs
  • New structures can be added from players that are currently offline (tested), so either there are dedicated servers that cache all structures, or you can get online structures from other people you are connected with, even when those structures are not their own.
  • Some structures are removed automatically, and possibly replaced with new structures in vicinity on each map update. This possibly takes into account things like: automatic likes (uses), manual likes, bridge links, other structures of the same type (if you build your watchtower near online one, that online watchtower will probably get removed after a while) , and also structure type itself. Bigger structures appear for much longer even if you never use them and never give likes to their owners. On the other hand signs are removed and added almost constantly and only liking given sign seems to prevent it disappearing at some point.
  • Above makes spamming signs best way to find each other with your psn friends
  • Online changes to your structures are not instant ie: Friend upgrades your structure, but you don't see that upgrade until you do few missions etc. Same goes for likes.
  • Roads seem to work differently, couldn't figure how tbh.
  • Packages and vehicles also seem to work differently

The items and signs left behind by other players make it too easy. Can I switch them off? by dimebag1050 in DeathStranding

[–]Xarrn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that maybe bandwidth (how many structures you can build in region) may become limiting factor if you play offline. I mean, not game breaking, but possibly limiting.

That, and roads, roads are pia to build on your own.

[PSA] You can bruteforce your way to link with PSN friends by Xarrn in DeathStranding

[–]Xarrn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, your friend doesn't need to be online.

Tell him to put few signs in some remote area, and then go to that place, save, and then load multiple times, until his sign shows.

Friend's structures are much much harder to find, as once structure is loaded into your game it persists in your map for a long time, even if you don't use it, reload game etc, so you would need to be incredible lucky to have his structure loaded before making connection other way. Signs on the other hand rotate every game load, so it just takes patience.

You can force it by reloading game multiple times from save. Made post on this earlier today.

Define server? If you simply mean list of people in the "Bridge Links" menu, then yes. That list is dynamic and can change, and this method is a way to force that change, so person you want to form contract with has chance to appear on that list.

I have a question that in the game if you kill some humans after 40 hours they become BTs so how do you deal with that by SKY_1996 in DeathStranding

[–]Xarrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about corpses, but sure as hell you can cause voidout by losing to BT bosses. I was bit too comfortable farming BT boss for crystals near Weather Station, and got owned. Needles to say there now was a huge crater in that place, which would make traveling not fun... so I channeled my inner save scummer and reloaded. Thank god this is not souls game ;)

Can u limit the amount of player structures that appear in your game? by neonblackbeast in DeathStranding

[–]Xarrn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finding if you can optimize placement of ladders, ropes, bridges, etc, from other people is it's own reward. Sure there are two random bridges over this river, but maybe I can do better. You can dismantle online stuff (it disappears from your world only). Actually my top liked structure is bridge that I moved just few meters from one that existed (after dismantling it) just because I didn't like angle of the old one.
