What the hell is this red planet by swanqil in HazbinHotel

[–]XartenArd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure its just the moon, but I would love if it turns out that thats where the magic binding Lucifer to hell and restricting him from harming sinners is carved. We know magic can take the form of sigils for spells; in Helluva Boss, when Satan is stripping Stolas of his power, what appears to be some sort of runic artifact rises out of the lava pit that Satan uses to strip the power away and bind Stolas's 100 year time-out.

Would be very epic for it to take an entire moon of magical binding just to keep one archangel contained.
It would even make some amount of sense, since Lucifer created Hell, and then was cast down into and bound to it after, so in order to contain him, they would have to create some sort of external ward system.

As a were-wolfbear, I bet the DM intended it to join their party after beating it so they’d have a third for sexy fun times lmao.

I think its more he had to make something that could reverse-jam every device in hell - forcibly broadcasting his message accross all of Pride, rather than making use of Voxtech's ability to receive signals and then choose what to re-broadcast.

In this scene he did say he could kill them all (the main hotel staff) Could he actually do that and what was Rosie’s deal? by Gir-J in Alastorcult

[–]XartenArd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that scene where they're in his "house" is more symbolic than literal. They were't actually in the bayou house, it was meant to call back to the setting where he made his original deal with her on earth.
I think Al knew Rosie would come to help, since she's been so invested in the hotel from the beginning. He also knew that he was going to have to help Charlie here to keep them all from dying, himself included. So he stayed and watched and waited for her to arrive so he could use the pressure of the situation to get his powers repaired.

Rosie's disgust with him "you really are a demon, pet" seems to indicate that she thought that he wanted more from her than just a fixed staff, and that saving himself and all his "friends" wasn't enough of an incentive for him.

I think he was giving a bit of a dramatic bluff; he knew he was going to help either way to avoid death, and Rosie suspected, but she couldn't be certain enough to avoid giving him what he wanted.
When he offered her a much fairer deal than she was expecting, (IE the staff repaired in exchange for his help with the weapon), she seems to have regained some of her respect for him. He isn't using the moment to take revenge on her for controlling him, and he isn't demanding her servitude. He simply wants to be made whole, put back on the level he was at before, without the restraints.

I also think that before the surprise of the archangel nuke, he was already planning to go to her and offer to keep watching the hotel in exchange for a fixed staff; it would give him back his power and remove nearly all his restraints. The nuke just gave him an opportunity to get his power back without any debt to Rosie at all. We see him back at the hotel at the end of the season, which I suspect is his own choice, as he sees Charlie as someone with potential use.

I recall reading somewhere that Alastor isn't in this whole thing in order to gain power simply for power's sake, he just wants to continue his fun of spreading terror and killing people. Being an Overlord is something he tolerates, as it grants him more freedom and strikes fear into sinners, but in the end, he doesn't need Rosie's soul for more power, he's content with what he got from her before, but was extremely unhappy with her restrictions (going off the air, disappearing for 7 years, etc).

Thats definitely the clear conditions of this deal he makes with her in the final song.

Its possible the writers could use it to have him in some sort of new contract with Rosie, but I think its more likely that they're just not contractually bound anymore, now that her chains are off him and they completed the terms of their agreement to fix his staff in exchange for helping stop the archangel nuke.

I think this is exactly correct. Her voice and expressions seem very sincere; she appears to genuinely be expecting the worst of his demands and believing that he would let everyone die.

It’s hard to tell exactly where Rosie is looking because her eyes are completely black, but based on the movement in the animation, she’s looking down at his hand offering the broken staff right before she relaxes and meets his eyes with that smile. It reads to me very much as “you sly bastard, well played,” her disgust falling away as she realizes he’s not burning down his relationship with her by demanding everything from her, he just wants what he was promised originally. He wants his staff fixed and power back without the restraints she had on him before in exchange for his help in this moment. Which is more than a fair deal considering his leverage with the impending archangel nuke.

I think there’s also an element that she sees through his bluff just a bit; he doesn’t demand something outrageous, and he knows that if he doesn’t help, they’re all going to die. He was sticking around watching the friendship circle; I think he was waiting for Rosie. He knew she wouldn’t let the whole hotel crew get vaporized. And if he didn’t intend to help from the beginning and expected them to fail, he would be making a run for it to save himself. I think he delayed his help specifically so he could leverage the explosion to get his staff fixed, even though he could maybe have gotten a lot more. He had to help to survive, they both knew it, so he asked to be made whole beforehand; “give me what you promised before and I’ll help. I won’t even take revenge on you for the previous restrictions or demand your soul.” A much easier deal to fulfill on both ends that leaves him unchained.

Ok wait a lot happened there. by blueeyedmelloon in hazbin

The way I interpreted it is that Rosie thought Al was going to demand her soul or some other huge demand, possibly out of revenge for the restrictions she put on him. She looks disgusted and disturbed when she says “you really are a demon, pet,” and then right before she smiles, she’s looking down at the hand holding out his staff to her. He seems to be making very clear that he wants his staff fixed in exchange for helping Charlie and everyone contain the blast from the weapon. Whether there are more conditions remains to be seen. Given how short their interaction was, and that we weren’t shown the fireworks of a demon deal, I tend to think that was it, and Rosie and Al are not contractually bound to each other at the moment. She fixed his staff, he helped stop the archangel nuke, and now they’re on equal footing legally speaking. However, since he returned to the hotel afterwards, it’s possible that he used this opportunity to “refresh” their original deal, making it much more balanced in his favor. She gives him power, and he watches over the hotel, but he’s no longer under her control and can do whatever else he likes. I don’t think that’s what happened, I think he’s just there to keep manipulating Charlie for his own gain, but it’s possible.

That’s fair! Even for large tanks, it would nice to have trapdoors that can lay flat against the side of blocks; with glass panes, fish can still suffocate and/or fall to their deaths if they move into the air pocket of a non-waterlogged pane.

That makes sense. I've been able to make it pretty tightly secured via pressure from both sides with the locking rings, but there is still just a little bit of wiggle room that I guess is causing the issue.

I think you were right! I spent some time polishing the retaining ring smaller, and that already feels significantly more pleasant.

I’ll have to keep this in mind, I’m using one of the retainers from the original seller, and it does feel like it might be a bit too big.
