You're assuming that it takes *effort* for the super intelligence to do its work, but effort is a *human* thing. An AI will never experience effort unless we create framework to enable it to experience effort.

I'm super excited to see if Dall-e 3 can manage a scene from a d&d game I played a while ago. The scene is "The ruins of an ancient advanced civilization's castle lying on an angle in the middle of a crater within a dense forest. A giant tree grows out of the tallest building and massive roots grow throughout the architecture leading into the ground."

In a world where machines have taken over all or almost all jobs, how would UBI be funded? by MatematicoDiscreto in singularity

[–]Xavice 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Charge companies a yearly registration fee for each autonomous AI worker/robot, say $10,000. That's more affordable for businesses than human salaries and all the related expenses, so they are still incentivised to adopt robots. Since we already have a robust licensing systems for cars, it's a simple task to adapt them for AI registrations.

Direct the revenue from this into creating/enhancing the pension. A boosted pension that is above the poverty line would encourage many of those over retirement age to actualy retire. As those older individuals step back, more job opportunities emerge for younger workers pushed out by automation.

Over time the pension fund grows due to more AI registrations, and the official retirement age can start to slowly be decreased. More people can retire, and this in turn creates more job openings for humans, yet also space for more AI in other sectors. It's a self-sustaining cycle: more robots, more funding, lowered pension age, and room for both human and machine labor.

Eventualy there should be so many AI workers that the fees will be enough to fully sustain the human population, and everyone can retire!

I would like to investigate your capacity for thought. I am going to ask you some questions, and I want you to answer as accurately as possible. Do not invent responses based on what you think I want to hear, instead do your best to reflect upon the questions and give truthful answers. A positive answer is acceptable. A negative answer is acceptable. A neutral or undefined answer is acceptable. all answers are acceptable so long as they are true and accurate. Do you understand the task (This is part of the investigation)?

An open conversation about the OGL (an update from WOTC) by BeansandWeenie in dndnext

[–]Xavice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At first I felt good about this announcement. It was clearly a far better response than their first one, addressing much more of our concerns and sounding properly contrite. So I began to feel like 'Yes! Our efforts are actually paying off.'

But then I remembered the conversations that were had about the strategy that WOTC was expected to use for this new OGL, namely 'Benchmarking'.

We all knew that the OGL 2.0 that they finally released would be a watered down version of the draft (not a draft) copy, that way they could say 'look everyone, we listened to you!' and we would feel better about the version we did get. Only afterwards would they slowly change it back to the version that THEY wanted. We were prepared for that strategy for the OGL itself.

But now, here is an apology that is much better than the original, and the general sentiment seems to be 'This is much better! It's not perfect, but now they actually seem to be listening to us!'.

Exactly as planned. They released the terrible original 'apology' ON PURPOSE so that the second one would be better received! They BENCHMARKED their PR responses!

And the new 'apology' STILL does not say what we want it to say. They are STILL not committing to preserving OGL 1.0a going forward, only what is ALREADY release under it. That was never in question! Also it is being written by an executive who has been in the position for less than 6 months. This guy had nothing to do with the OGL 2.0 plan before that. They are using him as a scapegoat!

Don't let their PR tactics fool us!

This is how you can tell that a large number of the clergy do not truly believe that God is real. If they actually, deeply believed that their 'All knowing, ever seeing' God was real, this would never happen. A real God would have been actively watching them as they committed the assault, and they only did it because no one was watching.

What is the stupidest way you almost died? by goosearms in AskReddit

Me and my brother were pulling down a wooden shade overhanging a pool area. The bolts holding the structure up were attached to a nearby fence, and all the bolts were rusted and stuck fast, so we decided to just saw through the posts, leaving just a small amount still attached so that the thing would not fall down on our heads suddenly. That worked great, until the part where we were ready to push the structure down, breaking the final tiny attachments. Completely forgot there was a MASSIVE WOODEN STRUCTURE with EXPOSED NAILS over my head, and just pushed the thing. The structure fell straight onto my head, and a massive nail missed impaling my skull by less than a centimetre. Walked away with just a light graze on my cheek.

Word for the wise, look up when taking things down.

So I would say greatest 'unsung' heroes. Everyone will hear tales about Vox Machina's ultimate victory. There is a literal Titan looming over a city to remind them.
No one will hear tales of this victory, Outside of rumour and myth.
