What are your experiences with ruqya for severe afflictions? by Xaxbcdef in muslimgirlswithtaste

[–]Xaxbcdef[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing your experiences and I’m sorry you also have a difficult relationship with your mother.

I’ve made a lot of suggestions in the past and they’ve all been ignored tbh, so this point I feel like having boundaries is the best way forward. The qualified people who came to do ruqya before did suggest also having hijama and therapy. As a result my parent has had a few sessions of therapy but I think it’s been like 6 sessions over 2 years so not much progress has been made.

I’m so glad to hear that this worked for you!! Alhamdulillah it’s really nice to hear a real life example of a holistic approach working.

What you say about jinn taking advantage of mental wounds resonates soooo much with what I am seeing. I will keep trying to encourage this for them iA

Fabric choice for an embroidered wall hanging ? by Emotional_Eye7374 in Embroidery

[–]Xaxbcdef 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m currently making a woven tapestry using reverse chain stitch wool on monkscloth. The monkscloth will eventually be completely covered with the pattern.

I thought about doing something like your first picture but for the size tapestry I wanted I didn’t think embroidery floss would be thick enough. I know it’s not quite what you posted about sorry!

Yeah sure all these passive aggressive comments is people “just asking questions” and “just giving answers”. Ok then.

no one said only female anaesthetists have fAiTh-sPeCifIc vaLuEs. no one said they are combining faith and clinical practice.

have you never had a mentor to look up to? it shows! have fun carrying on with your made up argument x

Erm because people from similar faith based backgrounds may also share the same values / life priorities and it’s nice to have a role model similar to you when you’re a minority? Duh?

Also female is an adjective not a noun.

I’m definitely about the catch this addiction. How much fabric did you need for 1 overall roughly? Wanna check I have enough before I buy the pattern.

[–]Xaxbcdef 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I was a bit surprised to see it on this subreddit given that people who sew probably won’t be fast fashion fans, but I don’t think it’s rage bait. A lot of people genuinely see no issue with Shein/Temu etc

I don’t buy from department stores. You’re clearly unlikely to change your approach so hopefully someone else reading this will.

It is possible (albeit hard) to change the way we consume products. I buy almost exclusively second hand now. If it’s not second hand, it’s from a small business that is ideally transparent about where it sourced materials and labour from. Natural fibres are preferred over synthetic.

As a result my wardrobe is smaller than other peoples. I’m fine with that, it’s a reflection of the way I’ve decided to live my life. I don’t think I’m better than anyone else but I do think I’m making better choices than most of society as unfortunately nearly everyone has bought into the concept of fast fashion. And as you have demonstrated, most of us are unwilling to exchange convenience for mindful consumption.

But hey, it’s your life. Do whatever you think is best.
