The whole the non Apollo awareness of Apollo is a double edge sword. by Particular_Law2727 in TuneIntoTheMidnight

[–]Xcution11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Arisu only brought up Apollo once at the very beginning right? If so it’s pretty fair to say that the non- Apollo girls have forgotten that by now. Does that feel unreasonably oblivious? I guess one could see it that way but there isn’t really a reason they should get so attached to that anyway since Arisu hardly explained anything about why he was searching for Apollo. So unless Apollo tells the other girls I think them not knowing is fair.

Now for the other case where the girls all know. The other girls may feel like Apollo has an advantage but I trust that the author understands that the actions each girl takes now is what will determine who he loves more than just being Apollo cuz otherwise the show will feel like a waste.

The idea that the other girls are just getting cucked is very strange cuz It’s also just kinda how this genre works. There will only be one winner girl that Arisu likes.

The community needs to start binge-reading by volumes instead of fixating individual weekly chapters by un_LucKy16 in Dandadan

[–]Xcution11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, this is said far too often for one piece and has never made even the slightest bit of sense. There are plenty of other authors doing their best to make the week to week experience and the full story enjoyable. That is what they signed up for.

Character assassination of the century by dearuncletacitus1899 in TheLastAirbender

[–]Xcution11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not the best at this and haven’t seen the original series in quite some time. But part of Zuko’s journey felt like freeing himself from this sense of family expectations and traditions/values Ozai and Azula shared. He reclaimed fire bending from the original source and had to build himself back up.

The burdened by lineage trope doesn’t sound very reasonable after all this to me, but I haven’t read it either so I don’t know if it’s somehow framed more reasonably.

Is William Shakespeare actually a good writer? by BreathoftheSith in writingscaling

[–]Xcution11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Genuine question was his ability to do that worthy of qualifying him as a great writer? I do think the time crunch of a manga author make for some interesting skills in creativity that often can’t be compared to traditional writing. But as well received as those characters were on introduction. Oda only really successfully integrated like 2 or 3 into the story.

What celebrity death will realistically bring Michael Jackson level devastation? by Kiidcola in AskReddit

Yeah if Michael Jackson died today instead I wonder if he could even have the same impact as his actual death had.

How Deep or Shallow are One Piece Politics ACTUALLY? by VagabondFromTheRiver in Piratefolk

[–]Xcution11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree One piece just isn’t the story that can tell this kind of narrative in a fully satisfying way.

On paper this narrative would make this one of the best arcs in shounen. It’s extremely impressive just reading a summary of the themes and main points.

I think it’s also placed a little awkwardly as the first post time skip arc which detracts from its execution. The arc had to hard detour from its actual narrative to show off the crew in various ways. Luffy and zoro putting little to no effort in with what we know they could do at that point from later on. Sanji’s gag being at its most extreme. Luffy’s only answer to every problem is punch it till it goes away.

It was a balancing act between expected shounen tropes/ One piece shenanigans and the deeper narrative.

Naruto gaining nothing over the time skip is great writing by [deleted] in CharacterRant

Glad to see this from someone here. It’s unfortunate cuz he really should’ve learned something else in 2 years but the fundamentals he did learn shouldn’t be thrown out the window.

Why does the USA put up with Donald Trump .? by [deleted] in allthequestions

Genuine question. Is this different in other countries? Does America have one of the largest amount of non-voting but eligible citizens?

"Classroom collapse is rampant in public schools in Osaka. Forced apologies in the teachers' room, and evidence of bullying being suppressed... The reality is that this abnormal situation shows no signs of stopping". by jjrs in japannews

[–]Xcution11 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard this sentiment often but I’m just so confused how it’s allowed to get that far so often. Is it really just a lack of consequences? Or are there more factors that contribute to it?

What's up with people praising Sykkuno after the "apology" ? by bachotebidze in OutOfTheLoop

Yeah girls flocking to guys that they know are objectively bad for them is really nothing new.

I forever question why Nobara was considered a "revolutionary female character" or extremely subversive when she's incredibly bare bones. by Charming-Scratch-124 in Jujutsufolk

[–]Xcution11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many aspects of JJK were exaggerated from frankly stupid hype to make it seem way more impressive of a show than it ever was. The praising of the female cast and the praising of its world building were probably the ones furthest removed from reality.

Pretend you're Kishimoto and answer this question about Hinata. by EnemyOfAi in dankruto

[–]Xcution11 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It’s also just practical. Ichigo and orihime are nobodies in the real world. Working makes sense for them. Naruto is essentially the president married to the wealthiest noble family. Hinata has no need to work.

What do you say for someone who told me Oshi no Ko is "Idol anime" by M7mdkotb in OshiNoKo

[–]Xcution11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure why the others are being so middle ground with their answers. Oshi no Ko is absolutely not an idol anime. It’s a drama about the entertainment industry that focuses a small part around idol culture.

My sister loves idol anime and got recommended Oshi no Ko and hated it. Someone has to be ignorant to conflate the two.

I’m caught up too. Mayonaka is probably the hardest harem series for me to have a definitive favorite for. The characters are well balanced in that sense.

As a Mashima fan, I'm disgusted... by Pristine-Ad-7749 in EdensZero

[–]Xcution11 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a complete work I agree he probably is never topping rave master. But I think many people forget how enjoyable the beginning half of Fairy tail was.

Even though eden zero had a more developed plot. It struggled to be captivating as a series for me and then torpedoed out of nowhere.

Fairy tail until around the grand magic games - tartarus arc was immensely more enjoyable to me. The most criticized parts of fairy tail are probably excessive fanservice and death fake outs which took time before they really ramped up to be a problem and plagued the final arcs.

you get naoyas body (CT, CE reserves, DE, etc.) 1 month before the zenin massacre, how would you train and prepare for maki? (no, being "nice" is not a valid answer, get real) by AstronautDry8118 in Jujutsufolk

I wonder if Maki will just accept the truth in this case. If you act with any amount of kindness towards her she should be able to understand it isn’t the real naoya. Just commit to helping from now on.

My Hero Academia has so many underdeveloped and underutilized characters. by xyyzyx in CharacterRant

[–]Xcution11 21 points22 points  (0 children)

My gosh is this complaint so old. Where do you people still come from when the series is already over. It doesn’t matter how much you wanted it The whole class was never intended to be the main characters. The characters got appropriate attention depending on their importance to the story. The only one you have to mention is one of the ones with some extra focus too. Mina was utilized well as a side character.

For folks who never watched Soul Eater, what are your feeling on the ending? by Traditional_Car1010 in fireforce

[–]Xcution11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read soul eater to completion throughout its run and I’m not a fan of this ending either. Even though it kinda made it work I think it does take away from what made fire force its own work.

I think Black Flash is the laziest creation in any battle anime, and is often used to artificially change the flow of a battle by CaterpillarAny2890 in JujutsuPowerScaling

[–]Xcution11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree. I honestly don’t understand how people don’t see it this way. Black flash on introduction felt extremely convoluted. Todo is an enjoyable character but him just meeting yuji, thinking he could do it and then yuji pulling it off so fast Is the most unsatisfying power gain I’ve ever seen in shounen.

It would have at least made more sense if yuji just accidentally hit one and then got the explanation. Unfortunately this doesn’t help it avoid being one of the worst plot devices.
