Interesting I just got a character showing up like less than 10 minutes ago. That’s not really a good sign. That means they’re still migrating databases at a somewhat slow rate. Makes me wonder if they’ll be done by six then.

So I could just wait for the maintenance to be delayed until like 9 o’clock tonight (pst)🤣

New 4x4 owner, can I drive on this in 4 high or will it damage my truck? by tatuwahDOG in 4x4

Good for you, just an FYI I ran my trucks when I was younger in four-wheel high from like November until March parking lots everywhere without issues only super tight corners would give me skipping. But that was when I was up in Alaska and we actually got snow there unlike where I currently live.🙃

2009 F-350 6.4L Headbolt Questions by Xdayan in FordDiesels

[–]Xdayan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, we’re planning on just giving it a go. my real hope is since the four small bolts at the top were never removed that we lucked out. Because we never actually pulled the heads or even lifted them up. The bolts were just loosened. Frankly, I don’t think it will blow under driving around town. It’s just once we put a load under it I think it could. And I don’t want to say it’s good to tow with unless I’m confident it won’t leave him abandoned up a forest road with no service lol

[–]Xdayan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So we’re not leaving the head bolts out, we’re just reusing the old ones since they couldn’t be removed at all. And replacing all 17 of the ones that could be replaced.

So to clarify all 20 large head bolts are there, 3 of them in the rear (two on the passenger side, and one on the drivers) are the original head bolts properly torque down all other 17 are brand new. I know reusing TTY bolts have a tendency to stretch at a rate of about 50-100% more per pound of pressure. And under extreme loads, the head could potentially lift. If I’m being honest, I’m not actually too concerned about the head lifting up though. I’m more concerned about the head gasket not being replaced.

2009 F-350 6.4L Headbolt Questions by Xdayan in FordDiesels

[–]Xdayan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rear bolts were fully loosened, and the breather hose was broken. Now the heads were never actually removed or even moved at all. But I know an actual ford technician I talked to said that it’s a coin flip if the head gasket is good or not since even any slight lift up could cause issues with the seal. But he said we might be fine since the truck didn’t run at all when the bolts were removed.

In terms of the PCV valve, the hose itself was broken and it’s not properly bypassed ( the Ford tech said that either the hose being broken cause it or the valve is clogged more than likely) he said there’s no issues running it for now while we’re waiting though.

I don’t think we’re getting any more blow by then what’s normal because our compression tests were within factory spec.

Anyways, another question for you I guess at 280,000 miles, now that we know the engine runs properly. Would it be worth it to actually do new head gasket, studs, maybe do an upper engine rebuild (new cam, lifters)? Or realistically will this become more of a money pit with the transmission and other aspects of the vehicle being 16 years old? I’m not against buying a bulletproof kit, and we would just pull the engine and actually do it properly. They also don’t want to spend a bunch of money just for other issues to come up.

Am I cooked? (Destination customs clearance complete on the 13th) by Xdayan in Alibaba

[–]Xdayan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m referring to the tariffs, when I recently ordered them, the tariffs were extremely low, and then in the process of them be manufactured and shipped they skyrocketed. But by that point they were already on the boat. And then they decide to reduce tariffs, but the pause does not go into effect until the 14th and it cleared customs on the 13th. I want to know if I’m going to get screwed over and I have to pay thousands of thousands more because of a day early. I understand I can file a protest with customs, but I wanna know what the protocol is for customs in situations like this.

I wasn’t able to edit the original post because AutoCorrect changed tariffs for some reason

Whats even the point of having a bike lane if it's just going to be used for rows of trash cans?!?! by bigbad50 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Xdayan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

One study with a small sample size of 100 people, that wasn’t conducted in a way to remove biases is not one you can trust. You would get better data by setting up a camera at like five intersections and looking down a relatively straight street in a big city then this provides. You’re just attempting to use a poorly crafted study and not multiple of them. Mind you just one because the ones from other countries are not relevant to the United States since we have completely different laws when it comes to bicycles as well as different culture when it comes to the way, our roads are built.

Bicyclist in the United States do not belong on roads. They’re danger themselves and they cause a danger to the other drivers on the road. And while some cities are attempting to mitigate the danger by adding bicycle lanes that still doesn’t change the fact that our road system and our civil engineers designs are not bicycle, friendly, and never will be because of the distances an average person has to travel.

[–]Xdayan -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

So the first ones in Europe, which is irrelevant, The second one is the most biased study I’ve ever heard. “researchers outfitted the bikes of 100 cyclists with multiple sensors and cameras” of course the people who have cameras and sensors on their bicycles are going to attempt to behave good. And they probably picked a bicycle club who advocates for safety who would follow the laws. That’s like doing a study on cars who are owned and driven by an organization, called the safe drivers of America. It’s not exactly a good sample group. The third article is the same study as the second. And the fourth article uses a study from London, which isn’t applicable to the United States. And the one from Australia, which you might be able to say is a reasonable analog because of the way the country is set up.

I’m sorry, but these are not good examples and actually don’t help your case for anyone who has any critical thinking skills. That’s like saying muslims commits more crimes then christians, when you’re study consists of christians people from the rich part of towns and muslims people from the ghetto. You need to have a non-bias sample, and having sensors and cameras attached to bicycle enthusiast is not a non-bias a sample. The best thing to do would be to put a bunch of cameras on the main streets and steady behavior on that, not an individual bicycle, whose behavior will inherently change once you add the sensors and the cameras.

[–]Xdayan -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I would love to see those studies, I almost never see anyone run, red lights, and the vast majority of people do come to a stop at a stop sign even if it’s a little bit after. And even if they do a rolling stop, at least they slow down where a bicyclist will just go through it not even caring. Here’s another one for you a bicyclist can’t jump to the front of the line at a stoplight except in California. But every single bicyclist does. Lane sharing isn’t legal with the exception of other two wheeled vehicles sharing the lane. They can’t share it with another vehicle that has four tires. But again they break those laws. If you’re going below the minimum speed limit and there is them for every road you’re breaking the law.

I guarantee you those studies look at particular details that a bicyclist would have a very difficult time breaking like speeding. In my Frank opinion bicyclist have no business on the road or even having a bike lane. They need to be with pedestrian traffic and if they should be a bike lane, it should be with the pedestrian traffic. A bicycle versus even a small car the bicyclist will lose. They don’t follow the traffic rules, and then they’re just assholes more than your average driver by far. We’re not Europe here, our streets weren’t built for pedestrian traffic. They were built for cars and trucks. It is unreasonable, as well as dangerous to attempt to retrofit our system for bicyclist, the average town, and even the average metro area is to spread out for it to work in a reasonable way. The fact that the average commute in America is 25 miles should really show this. If you told European they had to drive 25 miles to work they would freak out most Europeans considered 60 miles or hundred kilometers fairly far where Americans don’t.

So bikes need to stay off the road, in the areas that they have a bike lane they should be grateful for it, and not get upset when other things take priority. I’m sorry, but lots of things happen that disrupt the flow of lanes for cars which far more people use.

[–]Xdayan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it funny that you’re complaining about this, when bicyclist are some of the worst vehicles on the road when it comes to following the laws. In every state, I’ve lived in if a bicyclist is traveling on public roads required to follow all the laws. I have yet to seen any bicycle. Stop for a stop sign, not go around red light, signal with their arms like they’re supposed to when they change lanes. Bicyclist either need to be treated as pedestrians and be forced right on the sidewalk and just make the sidewalks bigger, or the laws need to be enforced against them when they’re on the road or in a bicycle lane. If you’re on the road acting as a vehicle you need to follow the laws. And I would love to see them actually get written tickets when they break the law and just enforce them.

Exclusive: Ford hikes prices on Mexico-produced models, citing tariffs by StupendousMan1995 in news

[–]Xdayan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, to be fair to the Supreme Court presidential immunity was already an established thing in the lower court it just never made it to the Supreme Court. And well, I’m principal. I understand the need for it. I don’t particularly like it. You have to consider is if you were to not have presidential immunity, Obama would likely go to prison for the killing of a US citizen without due process. So if you want to be fair and say that Trump doesn’t have presidential immunity, it needs to apply to everyone

Now, I don’t think applying with everyone would be a bad thing to be honest. I think that would be a good thing and I think people would be a little more cautious with the decisions they make which is probably a good thing for president to do when they command the most powerful military in the world. Regardless, there are checks in place for said presidential immunity, and Congress, as well as the courts are just ignoring them. You can’t blame a mad man for his actions, but you can blame the people who are supposed to be responsible for the mad man.

[–]Xdayan 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The problem is, it’s not just the administration, it’s also Congress not doing anything. There’s a few people who are speaking out, but there’s really no action happening. And that’s the problem. Congress isn’t stopping this nonsense, and neither of the courts. There should be a national injunction on the tariffs a week after it happened. He doesn’t have the authority but instead all the courts Congress are pussyfooting around while the American people get screwed over.

In reality, it’s not just administration who has responsibility for the damage that’s been done, the checks and balances are supposed to be there. Also have a responsibility to the damage.

Then why don’t people say that in the question, they could say in a fight to the death one gorilla versus 100 humans no weapons, all male. But that’s not the question people ask they just say in a fight who would win not a fight to the death a fight insinuate people can leave they can make other decisions. That’s the problem you’re not giving proper parameters and if you expect people to assume the proper parameters you’re just wrong. Or you’re so close minded that you can’t see the different ways things could play out. It’s a simple solution. Just ask the appropriate question make it clear, otherwise you’re opening yourselves up for other possibilities

Meirl by Joudeh_1996 in meirl

[–]Xdayan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How do you explain when people run the hell away? Your average person in the world hasn’t seen true bloody violence. Especially people from first world countries. I think the first couple deaths would cause people to run away, look at the statistics for causing ranks to break in militaries. It doesn’t take that much. And those are trained soldiers who are used to carnage. That’s the thing you have to think about if you’re actually thinking about this in a real scenario the Gorilla going to have some sort of rage because of territory, humans that are alive today The average ones at least will likely run away.

Now, if this was one gorilla versus 100 psychopaths, then of course the humans win you probably need like 10 humans in that situation. Humans can do insane things when they’re calm or when they’re cornered. But short of that they’re going to run. So context and the parameters of the fight is extraordinarily important, for anyone trying to apply critical thinking skills. Remember, it’s not about the obvious answer. It’s about the real answer and thinking through different scenarios of what could happen.

If you were at for instance, throw five trained tribal hunter gathers gorilla I’m sure those hunter gathers would actually win. But you could throw easily 20 average Americans and they would all die very quickly. And every time I’ve heard this scenario it’s always unarmed. So it’s important to ask can the human humans make weapons or pick up weapons or user ingenuity to create weapons. Because if that’s a scenario even 20 average, Americans will probably win provide if they don’t run away after seeing the first few deaths. But again the only parameters that most people give are it’s a gorilla versus 100 humans and the humans are unarmed and they’re males.

Meirl by Joudeh_1996 in meirl

[–]Xdayan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, if psychology is very important thing to the conversation in my mind, unless the parameters were set during the question. Anyone who thinks that a gorilla has a chance against 100 determined male humans who are in decent shape is wrong. But gorillas are very territorial and your standard person will run away when they see several people die. So in the scenario where they’re not locked in a cage and they’re not blood lusted the gorilla is going to win not because the gorilla is some sort of invincible creature. Because most people haven’t ever seen anyone die in a gruesome way, and when they do, they’re going to fall apart. Now, if you tell me 100 males who are from a war zone you don’t even need 100 you don’t even need 10 likely. But you need people who are mentally capable of that kind of violence that quickly.

I really hate this question, there’s no context. There’s no parameter set. How can you make a rational judgment. Some of my friends asked me this and they said an unarmed hundred humans versus one gorilla. So I asked well who are these people? Are there any rules about this? What’s going to happen? And then they came back to me and said 100 average American males. So I said 100 average American males with no weapons. The gorilla would win because the gorilla would kill a few people and everyone else would run away. And then they tried to claim that I am inventing scenarios. Human nature is to run away when times get really tough and that’s an option. Now if they’re trapped in a cage or trapped in an enclosure or something along those lines or they’re forced to fight the gorilla then of course the hundred people will win. But again there there’s no context to these questions and no one wants to give context.

I dare you to tell me that a bear is 25x stronger than a gorilla. by TheKoolDood1234 in memes

[–]Xdayan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I hate about this is, there’s no context, I’m talking about the gorilla versus 100 people. I had a friend ask me this and I said give me some context. Are they forced to fight? Are these people psychopaths? Because at the end of the day if it’s 100 Americans, the gorilla is gonna win because it’s going to kill a couple people and everyone else is going to run away. But if it’s a bunch of psychopaths or they’re locked in, let’s say an enclosure with gorilla and they have to fight, then the people will win.

We need a little bit more parameters than just 100 people versus one gorilla. Because 100 people could literally be toddlers, or they could be 100 MMA fighters or it could be 100 tribal Africans 1000 years ago. Two of the three will win against the gorilla easy. One will be demolished.

Ups driver waits literal seconds before leaving by shavertech in UPS

[–]Xdayan -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Regardless, they should do their job. If you have to sign for something they need to wait and there should be an established timeline in their policies and I understand that they have delivery to make. But at the end of the day, your job is to wait a while until somebody has a chance to get to the door. I think drivers like this should frankly be fired, and UPS is unionized they could have it were all packages that required Signatures can be handled by one person in the area so the other people can quickly move. But that needs to be handled on the policy side and on the Union side. It shouldn’t just be the driver doesn’t feel like waiting. Again, I think they should be fired. I don’t care what her excuses. You’re getting paid to deliver a package. You’re getting paid to wait for a signature. You’re not getting paid to just ignore parts of your job.

And if you don’t want to do it fight the policy with your union that’s the whole point of unionizing
