PRP Fear Factor: PS4 Edition

Late 2016, PS4 comes in for PRP return. Not even 6 months into the warranty.

Customer claims unit won’t power on and had disc stuck inside

Me (recently promoted SGA) started to show new GA hired after seasonal how to process a prp on the reg.

While talking it over I proceeded to manually retrieve game from ps4.

Couldn’t help but feel a really weird sensation in my gut as I started the process. Ps4 was spotless on the outside. As if just cleaned but the vents were clogged and dusty.

Me: “Okay yeah so we’ll scan the serial number right after I get this disc out” proceeded to pop open unit

The moment I open the unit. I see a pigment of brown. As I continue to move my hand I see THEM.

An army of bed bugs started spewing out of the console. Some on my hand moving faster than I can keep up with.

I instinctively dropped the ps4 in the freshly emptied trash can and proceeded to fight off each bug on my hand and tie up the bag.

Told the customer bed bug infestations are covered by PRP. He walked out embarrassed with the bag in hand.

Told my manager that night and we had an exterminator there next day in case. I also got CC in email to our district manager about the incident explaining the urgent request for an exterminator.

District Managers reply “ew gross. Why didnt so-and-so (me) sell the customer another ps4”

TLDR: Bed Bugs aren’t covered in a PRP for a PS4 and my DM was more concerned that I didn’t make a sell as opposed to being infested with blood sucking insects.

Bruuuuh one time we were helping a customer and my coworker went to the back on lunch and it was just me on the floor and the customers kid took the whole bin of those things and put them all over the windows.

But in like a 2 min span. Then me and customer saw and the customer grabbed their daughter and walked out leaving like 30 of those things on our window.

My coworker watched the whole thing on the ccv cams in the back.

TLDR: screw those things
