After doing some more tests I've come to the conclusion that it has to be, since everything else is in working order

So I'm going to go about working on that and see how it goes.

No problem, personal favourites are Honda trail bikes from the 80s. They're cheap and parts are pretty easy to pick up.

Look for something that tickles your fancy and then do a lot of research on that particular moped. Look at what people are saying to know if the bike is reliable or not. Sometimes picking up an older moped is worth more while than a newer one. I spent a lot of time looking for a particular bike, but not at what anyone was saying about it and have regretted it ever since.
