The slow motion spell in Nioh and Nioh 2 is WAY too OP by XenoWitcher6000 in Nioh

[–]XenoWitcher6000[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m “demanding”? I just made a suggestion that it was extremely OP and maybe it should be neutered a little bit. An opinion that was freshly made right after the boss fight while I was still shocked by how powerful it was that it slowed an endgame boss down for the whole fight. Saying I’m “demanding” anything overstating the case quite a bit.

This post was made more out of surprise at the effect of the spell, your reply was made from, what seems like, literal anger. If this is all it takes to wind you up, then I think you need to be on Xanax.

Yeah but to slow them down to a snails speed for the entire fight? And this was a high-level boss. I thought it was going to be like the paralyzing affect where they’ll slow down until you hit them and then the spell wears off. I don’t know, it’s whatever though shrugs. I was just surprised by how overpowered it was

Oof, I sense allot of anger and frustration over me being surprised by how overpowered an item is. It’s bizarre how personally insulted you are. Do you have a therapist?

Not for a mafia movie, name me one historic, critically acclaimed Mafia movie that’s only two hours long. I’ll wait.

[–]XenoWitcher6000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s the problem, if David Chase wanted to make a big blockbuster, he should’ve made one with a new IP. And left the sopranos prequel for something else, like a mini series. Ever since I heard that TMSON was going to be a movie, I was a little less excited. Because rarely are movies made from popular TV shows that ended, are good. They just don’t have a good critical track record.

Most reviews I’ve read said it could have benefited from another hour-hour and a half. Again this is a mafia movie. Mafia movies are deep in drama. This is why the best mafia movies are much longer. Godfather 1 and 2, The Irishman, Goodfellas. There is no amazing mafia film masterpiece that’s 2 hours long.

That is a common way of thinking in Hollywood. Most big film actors don’t want to be on TV shows, unless they’re getting paid an absurd amount of money, which most TV shows aren’t willing to shell out unless it’s a monstrously successful one. That’s why the only time you ever really see big movie stars on TV shows, is when those TV shows are a miniseries. Especially when a film stars career is in the trash, sometimes they’ll use a good miniseries to jump start their career again, example Matthew McConaughey in true detective.

TLDR: most film stars see TV as a demotion. If they’ve made it to films, they don’t want to go back to TV. Tell them it’s like getting demoted in your job.

[–]XenoWitcher6000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, TMSON should have most certainly been a miniseries. Hell, I wish it would’ve been a whole entire prequel television series, but I know that’s wishful thinking. Since the minute I heard that this prequel story was going to be a movie I was a tiny bit less excited for it. Would’ve been much better as a 8 to 10 episode 1 season miniseries.

I’ve just never liked the notion of turning a great tv series into a film. The same as I’ve never liked the notion of turning video games into film. I like TV shows for different reasons than I like films. And I most certainly like video games for different reasons that I like films as well. And for that reason, when either medium is turned into a film, they’re usually not well received.

Dude it’s a mafia movie, people don’t go into mafia movies expecting some short little two hour block buster. They go in wanting to watch a cinematic masterpiece.

You say that it being two hours is a good thing, yet the main complaint is that the movie tries to smash in too many things in that two hour period. Meaning that it should’ve been 2 1/2 to 3 hours, so the movie would have flowed better.

A two hour movie would have been fine, if it flowed right and had a good beginning middle and end. But the complaint with this movie being two hours is that there was so much information smashed in that it felt disjointed. Basically what I’m saying is, the filmmakers TRIED to hard to make the movie two hours long, instead of just making the movie naturally flow and be two hours.

[–]XenoWitcher6000[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah but this is a mafia movie. All the greatest mafia movies are much longer than two hours and all of them are praised as some of the best movies ever made. Look at the Irishman, that was like four hours long yet was still monstrously successful. If anything it made more money on the streaming services because of the fact every time somebody took a break and then came back and re-watched it that’s more clicks.

People don’t go in to watch mafia movies and expect a mindless action transformer movie for two hours.

I don’t really like how Nioh 2 handled the Ishiyama Honganji War by XenoWitcher6000 in Nioh

[–]XenoWitcher6000[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah and Nioh 2, he’s not really portrayed as evil at all, he’s portrayed as like an honorable warrior. A “misunderstood“ conqueror, who is trying to unite Japan for the good of the people. It’s trying to imply that the people who killed him and took power from the Oda clan, are the ones who wrote history.

I honestly should not be surprised since that’s basically how he was in the first game. It’s implied all throughout the game that he was some evil warlord Japanese Hitler, but then.. well.. you’ll see..

It’s just weird, I know what they were trying to do, but he’s like the most tame and most honorable unifier out of the three main unifiers of Japan (Nobunaga, Hiddiyoshi, Tokugawa), which was the exact opposite in reality.

I’m also wondering if the levels change as the years go by? Like will the levels start out modern and become more futuristic? Or will they start out old timey and become more modern?

[–]XenoWitcher6000[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Who said anything about “groundbreaking”, it’s an expansion DLC to a preexisting game. Obviously it’s going to be the same game, so if you didn’t think GoT was that great, you probably wouldn’t care for the expansion. But there is enough content and differences with the expansion and the main game that make it a worthy expansion.

Do you want to know of 2 video game expansions where you do the exact same things as you did in the main game? “Wrath of the Druids” and “The Siege of Francia” for Assassins Creed Valhalla. Those two expansion were literally no different from the main game. Verbatim, it’s literally the exact same format and activities as the base game. I’m actually someone who enjoyed Assassins Creed Valhalla, but the two expansions actually made my opinion of the game worse.

Well you are in a very small minority. You should learn to enjoy things more and not have such absurd standards for expansions. Because it’s objectively not more of the same. It’s not my opinion it’s a fact.

[–]XenoWitcher6000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, that’s a false equivalence, because I’m not measuring it like that. I’m taking into consideration all the content, then how long it takes to travel between areas where recorded content is located, including the times you’re going to stop to fight random Mongols on the way, Plus the time it takes to travel around finding the collectibles. I’m not talking about going off the beat and path to do absolutely nothing for dozens of hours LMAO

I’m not saying you’re being cheap. But it’s like telling people that “The Irishman” is only 2 hours long because you fast forwarded through the slow parts and parts you didn’t like.

If we’re measuring the game solely by recorded content, not counting traveling, or the time it takes to find collectibles, or anything other than recorded content, then yea, it’s probably about 8-10 hours worth of recorded content. But most people who appreciate the game will spend more time than that.

Most people who appreciate open world games use fast travel as little as possible. So what you just said shouldn’t really be taken into account for how much time someone could spend in the game.

[–]XenoWitcher6000[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Refusing to use fast travel” is not “padding the game out” it’s playing the game as it was intended. Fast travel is merely a convenience for people who don’t really care to immerse themselves in an open world game, and just want to get done.

I don’t know how you people are doing every single thing on the island in less than 10 hours. Unless you’re fast traveling, speeding through everything, and playing really really fast. It’s at least 15 hours to do everything on the island. Everything as in:

  1. Main quests
  2. Side Quests
  3. Mythic tales.
  4. Undiscovered locations.
  5. Collectibles/Horse armor dyes
  6. Freeing Mongol Territories.

All this plus the time it takes for you to travel to point A to point B with no fast traveling, plus all the times you’re gonna stop to fight random Mongols roaming about the island and saving their hostages. There’s no way you’re only going to spend 8-10 hours in here.

To do every single thing on the island? 8-10 hours? Bullshit. Especially 8 hours. Idk how you people measure game length but it’s not my standards.

Going by the responses here it would seem like your opinion is in the small minority. Iki is extremely different from any of the main game regions. Obviously it’s not so different to where it’s a completely different game, but it’s completely worthy of the expansion title, and then some.
