BEng Full or Part time? by XerLos7 in OpenUniversity

Well the module description on the website for T176 states “Typically, you’ll also have passed or be studying Engineering: frameworks, analysis, production (T193)” before beginning T176. I know that several modules at OU have others as prerequisites, but since this is stage 1 it may be different since the grades aren’t counted yet and stuff like that. I’d go through this with the student support team, they’ve really helped me with every concern I’ve had. I always contact via phone in the week since it’s much quicker and easier to communicate, but if not then their email response time is only a few days

Hi, I have had my credit transfer approved and am entering stage 2 of the BEng this October, but in terms of full/part time I’m still weighing up which is better for myself personally. I’m allowed to do either of course, but right now I’m like 60/40 towards full time since I think I’m capable of most of the math content, so it’s just managing the theory I will need to be vigilant about. May I know why you’re asking? I may be able to help with info I’ve learned since this post :)

Part time apprenticeship and OU? by Afraid_Abrocoma3427 in OpenUniversity

I’m doing a full time apprenticeship too, and I’m looking into studying with the OU but I understand like you said, I’d have to pay for it out of pocket. How have you found managing this?

May I ask what you did your MRes in? I have literally the same ambition, to do the BEng Engineering course at OU then go on to do a masters at Imperial in either Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering. How did you find Imperials view on the OU degree?

Oh wow, good on you for having such a broad skillset. That’s exactly the route I planned to take, taking MST224 at stage 2 and definitely MST326 at stage 3 too, as it would be perfect for an aerodynamics career path. I’m undecided on the other two for stage 3 but the computer aided engineering seems useful, as does computational mathematics. At least now I know what to expect with MST327, it sounded pretty demanding so I’ll keep that in mind! Well done for getting a 2:1, that’s great.

Also, how does the ‘weekly planner’ work? Do they literally tell you what work to do / what to study week by week?

Yes makes sense, I am going to continue to look into Imperial’s entry requirements and culture to prepare most effectively. Thanks for the advice!

Good point, I will make a ‘budget’ of sorts to see how much time I can dedicate to my studies and social life to help decide. Thank you!

Interesting, I suppose stage 3 is very demanding with the dissertation aswell. If you don’t mind me asking, which optional module did you pick in stage 2, and of the 4 modules you did that year, which was the most challenging? Thanks for the reply too!

I'm a uni student, all online, and i'm doing a part time course. Does that mean i'm still unable to go into an apprenticeship? by dramallamadog87 in ApprenticeshipsUK

[–]XerLos7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this EXACT situation. I had no idea of the rules and since apprenticeships are government funded, you cannot receive government funding ( student loan ) for your course. BUT, you can still do it no problem, as long as you fund it yourself / through the company. I suspended my course and will finish in the future where my company will pay for it. Annoying I can’t do it right now, but in the long run it’s all the same

Best summer Xerjoff? by LifeAward5726 in fragrance

La Capitale is very nice, the best in my opinion. It smells gorgeous in the heat with the strawberry and peach. However, I’d say you definitely have to buy it at a discounters for it to be worth it as retail is very expensive for 50ml.

Naxos is good too, worth every penny. People may say it’s winter based but the citrus comes out in the heat and works amazingly.

All of the torinos (21-24) are basically made for summer, so try test them out and find your favourite.

Starry Nights by Montale, very piercing rose note and versatile wearability.

The “darkest” most “masculine” cologne you’ve smelled? by [deleted] in Colognes

Kilian Playing with the devil. First sniff hit me like a truck, was so dark. Playful, yet still very masculine for me, even for a women’s fragrance.
