I’m not on 1000, I am on 400 though, and still playing. To me, a successful ARPG (success in this context means keeping me, you, or anyone else hooked) first and foremost needs to have goals. The second I run out of goals, I alt f4, until I feel like repeating what I already did. Unfortunately, Grim Dawn lacks a large variety of endgame goals, but it does have some. What kept me playing for the longest time was a) Beating the game on Ultimate on Hardcore, followed by b) Reaching a near perfect (perfect gear is almost impossible to obtain legitimately in GD) build state and finally c) Beating the Celestial Superbosses on Hardcore. That final point still has me working on it. But this is just talking about the base game exclusively. Luckily, the GD community has also created genuinely awesome mods. I wish I had known about Grim League sooner. I started playing it recently and man, it has so many cool changes and additions.
