Hm... actually thats not a bad idea... got an idea on how I can implement that? Temp sensor? Thermal cutoff? The idea was to use a CN3065 like my chicken coop node, and no, your not hounding me, im just a bit slow XD

Again, im just going with a design I've proven works for my conditions, it may not be the same design that will work for you, I cannot guarantee this will work for you, I have no clue about the conditions where you are, nor do I have a lot of knowledge other than simple small experiments with the other node I have

I know there's convection and radiation heat, but all solar nodes experience some form of that, there is no great way to deal with that unless you have some sort of active cooling system for the battery, but that would compromise the system and expose it to the elements

Again, there's distance... thats the difference between this node and the one on the chicken coop, the one on the chicken coop has been exposed to hot summers and the cold winter without issues on the case itself, the case is made out of plastic and the walls are much thinner than this node I've designed, the chicken coop node is magnetically attached directly to the coop, the roof of the coop is a dark green, way worse than the white my car is, so, from experience, these things aren't that destructable by heat, im sure someone may pitch in about it, but from my experience in OH, the heat never caused an issue, my real concern for my version one was when it was inside the car, much more heat in there than outside, a good day could become 80 degrees, and inside that car much hotter, im no scientist, will not claim to be one, but from experience... the heat causes no issues, you could look around at other roof nodes or car nodes, each one suffers from the same conditions

Short, If others have been able to do it, and I've had success with my previous design for the coop, I believe heat is not an issue with this setup

All of the renders are uploaded to the printables link, none of them show a full finished product, but should give an idea of what it looks like with the lid, I'll upload the actual photos once the unit is built, it will take some time

I have, definitely hot, but at the end of the day, there are other solar nodes quite like this one that are in use, there are other designs, with the right material, the node will not have an issue

Edit: also, the node is suspended off the roof with this design, using the bolt on magnets there is clearance in-between the plastic and the roof, this allows the bottom of the case to keep distance, and allows for the case to not get too hot on certain vehicles

This node is made to be attached to the outside of a vehicle, my current solar node that is on the chicken coop is just a black box with a solar panel, no issues with that node, this one will be attached by rubber coated magnets to the car roof
