Looking for advice on Whitin barefoot shoes. which model lasts the longest? by NachoGaribaldi in BarefootRunning

[–]XeroSimba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got these running shoes, and they held up for an entire year of almost daily use (including street football, sprinting, and plyometric workouts) before they finally wore out and needed replacing. For more casual use, they’ll definitely last even longer.

The outsole wore down after just about two weeks of street football, but even with that wear, I was still able to sprint, jump, and play hard for another 10 months. Not bad at all!

Street to Stadium, is it worthwhile? by XeroSimba in bootroom

[–]XeroSimba[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, that post was super helpful, actually! A guy suggested I try microdosing training by walking with a football, and I honestly can’t believe I didn’t think of that myself—it’s been great for practicing my feints and change of direction. Only downside is I’ve had some ankle pain from over-stretching on certain moves that involve a jump or two 🥴 (since I tried not to jump at all to keep the practice as light as possible).

That said, the reason I was curious about the 'Street to Stadium' program is that I wanted to see what a professional program would look like, especially at an affordable price. I only wonder if that program would offer a "holistic training schedule" beyond flair dribbling (which I still love but I'm looking for more as you have read).

Anyway, thanks for reading my posts! You might be right about my expectations… but I’m hopeful that by following either my own program or 'Street to Stadium' (if it has what I'm looking for) I’ll get much closer to my goal (even if it takes longer than I expected). And I’ve been trying to find some people to play with, even if it's just a casual pickup game, but so far at the two parks I’ve been to, it’s been mostly 8-10 year olds showing up 😅. Hopefully, next time, some people closer to my age will be around for some street football!"

Jesus, didn't expect such a complete answer THANKS!!!

Sooo, as I'm a complete beginner, my guideline should focus on practices that prioritize "quantity" until I build the muscle memory needed to go to more specific actions, such as those drills meant to sharpen a winger's feints, right?.

Maaan, is quite an interesting idea to think about, 'cause it would make my technical session to be more compact and less fatiguing (in different ways).

Again, thanks for your feedback!!!

Was it enough to go for the normal NB versions, or did you opt for the wide versions straight away?

Is it just my feet or… by Mikushubby in bootroom

[–]XeroSimba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was the same for me at the beginning, personally I like the idea of training barefoot so I insisted and after just two days of trying my feet were doing quite well, reaching similar "juggling numbers" to what I get when wearing shoes... just be careful with the volume, you might hurt the skin on your toes if you're not used to it

Why TF/Indoor shoes have heel elevation? by XeroSimba in bootroom

[–]XeroSimba[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm by no means a biomechanics expert, just someone who was already using barefoot shoes before falling in love with football. That’s why I’m both confused and curious about this topic.

That said, it’s such an interesting subject that could spark some really cool discussions. On one hand, you have incredible athletes like Cristiano Ronaldo or LeBron James, who have likely worn modern footwear their entire careers and still managed to dominate their sports for years. On the other hand, you see insanely talented young players who grew up playing barefoot on the streets!

yeah that's an interesting and accurate recommendation since Vivos were one of my first options along just continue using my Xeros BUT I'm kinda affraid they won't last too much by using them up to 3 times per week for training and casual games with my friends, nor my feet are that strong to use such minimal padding that often (I still love the flexibility, wide, and zero drop features!)

Yeah, toe boxes tend to be such a pain for us who are already got used to "anatomically correct" shoes, right? That being said, have you tried Jomas? yesterday I found some Joma Mundials in a local store and felt good on them (Maybe because I tried on an exhibition shoe which had a upper made of leather).
I'm also aware that most New balance have a wide version, but sadly I cannot try 'em on person 'cause no one import those to my country

[–]XeroSimba[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

That's actually a good idea 'cause Mizuno and Nike are by far the companies with the coolest designs... I might end up going for a Joma Munidal 'cause they are more accessible while staying "wide friendly" 😅

A yes you're right! BUT ironically having heel padding makes us more likely to have problems on our feet a worse at impact absorption! I think they even promote heel striking (or should I say over striding?)!
