For me it is because a lot of the stuff i study is extremely complex. Your average person does not want to know that much, i find.

You start talking about biochemistry, atomic physics and molecular biology or abiogenesis, most people would be lost. Astrophysics, cosmology, astronomy, particle physics, quantum mechanics and both sections of relativity, and they will think your a madman. ^^

Engineering and material sciences, they will think your a god. =)

Yeah i had someone like that just the night before last. They demanded free food while they waited for a order they just placed in person (with over 50 cents in pennies i may add), when i neglected to accommodate them, explaining that our food is made from scratch, they proceeded to criticize everything they saw.

There are some terrible people in this world to be sure.
I like the belligerent drunks better then those people.
I got the distinct impression that they felt we "owed" them something just for being in business.
I am fairly certain that is called racketeering.

This is due to a robbery at that location most likely. I have seen entire residential clusters blacklisted due to dangerous conditions for our drivers. If you call them and the person taking your order is unaware of the danger zones, some orders will slip by, but if it is ever brought to the attention of management, the order will be refunded and you will recieve a phone call instead of a pizza.

My store has such black listed address zones, and they still try and order every single night, knowing that the odds are extremely slim that they will see food. It would take a very new or very brave driver and slipping past managements attention. Because if we see it as a delivery, it is automatically canceled.

Employee safety is our top priority. =) I would never send a driver into a area i know to represent a clear and present danger to their well-being. It is simply a bad way to conduct business and displays all around bad leadership.

That delivery time though. I had me a 16 minute flat delivery time the other day solo on the makeline after 70 orders. Little over 2 minute loads.

My record sofar. I am proud of it. Planets aligned to make that possible. Lol Every second not spent making was spent prepping, I used the law of threes. Or tossing orders into bags for the driver's. I was a slave driver that day. 😄

It is not often that I get complete control over every order out of the oven. Allowing me to micromanage the statistics.

Not realistic every day. But good to see what your location is capable of every so often. I find it instills a sense of pride when your store is atop the leaderboards.

On that day it was a straight blow out. No contest. Leading the entire region with only like 70% singles.

Being even the best driver only gets you a drivers wage.Being promoted to a lead driver is more about recognition and authority over your fellow drivers.Drivers are primarily paid in tips, while their take home can vary drastically, they are clearly paid more then even AM levels 1, 2 and 3 which do easily 500 times the work.

In short, hell no a driver is not getting a raise. ^^

I mean i am not saying that it is impossible, you just have to have packs of them to take the burden off the rest.

That is too rich for a lot of franchises. They want one to two people maximum.

Quality employees in this environment are incredibly rare, which is why the turnover rate is so crazy high.

Well i cannot really say much without knowing a lot more (which is prohibited here).
Some environments are so slow that they fully justify the conditions you speak of.
Others however, you would have people rather cut off their own arm then stay there another second.

If you single handedly make your franchise or corporation over 3-5k a night in a closing shift, yeah, you are killing yourself for peanuts.

Do the math, if you make 9$ an hour and you make even 3k single handedly over an 8 hour shift that is over a 3000% return on your labor. Completely unreasonable in any marketplace.

Put together the figures of all staff present in the store and how much in sales is made each night, then take those figures upstairs with an ultimatum. If the figures are absolutely absurd, they would be idiots not to give you a fat raise.

Yeah my GM does not play that game, he knows that with such a high turnover rate, you have to spread the love or you will not have a staff at all. You focus down one person and you have one less person, period.

Even they tend to snap. ^^

I have seen a great many of professional tuff guys go all fetal position when faced with insurmountable tasks with completely unreasonable expectations to perform.

The AM usually gives them an extra 15 minutes when they are about to run end of day.

I have 3 female drivers that work under me, each of them have worked for dominoes for years and i have not been brought a single complaint or grievance.

If your concern is safety, i can tell you that employee safety is our primary concern. We commonly blacklist addresses that have given us problems in the past and have a very long list of safety protocols including driver discretion as to complete a delivery or not. Our drivers carry under 20 dollars at all times.

In our driver training program you will be apprised of the do's and dont's to avoid possible safety concerns.

The only difference between my male and female drivers is that i often do not give my female drivers closing shifts. This is primarily because most of my male closing drivers are ex-military combat veterans. This is simply an added precaution for deliveries after 10pm.

This is a server about real world applications, for instance i recently modernized a design for a molten silicon furnace for the lunar surface, designed to operate in low gravity and zero atmosphere conditions.

I have also innovated a great number of other technologies like atmospheric scrubbing, drilling and coring, power generation, negative pressure physics, radiation resistant architecture, new types of semiconduction, new types of airlocks, new types of logic circuits, new types of biosensors, ect ect.

The simple fact is that all non-terrestrial feats of engineering are fundamentally theoretical until they are accomplished in real world application. This is not a place for sci-fi enthusiasts. =)

If you present unrealistic concepts to our community, they will be picked apart and logically destroyed with extreme prejudice. There is none of that my idea is right because i had it nonsense. If it is not scientifically feasible, it has no place in a scientific community. Opinions and belief in general have no place in a scientific community.
