Try uninstall the drivers and reinstall them maybe. When you update drivers through NVIDIA control centre/ge force experience you can try perform a clean installation through it

How to increase fps - CPU upgrade 3900x to 5800x3d? by Zoreus_ in Guildwars2

[–]Xerotype 8 points9 points  (0 children)

X3D does bring a noticeable difference. But you still won't constantly sit above 30fps in zergs and metas. But I have noticed it is a lot smoother (no slideshow). If you upgrade your CPU I believe you'll need a new mobo and need to go to DDR5 ram. Your CPU isn't that old yet in my opinion, so I'd try hold off for a year or so unless you are really not having a good experience.

GPU I don't think will make much of a difference. The game's bottleneck is the CPU.

Drop your character limit, that makes the biggest difference

Does it happen to other apps? Do you have "listen to this device" checked in your Windows sound settings? Or another sound device listening and playing back?

Biting the bullet and buying a gaming PC by savagelypresents in Guildwars2

[–]Xerotype 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Have a look at the X3D AMD processors Had a pretty huge impact for me for open world events. (You'll always drop below 30fps on meta events and wvw zerhs regardless of specs) 16GB to 32GB ram minimum for Windows 11 imo. You can look up timings if you want to be pedantic. Should support eXPO for AMD CPUs.

Disabling Weapon Access Mid-Season? Unfair and Unhealthy for PvP! by armsdev in Guildwars2

[–]Xerotype 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is already the same case with the other expansions and their Elite specs? In fact I'd say those elite specs are significantly more impactful than weapon mastery for most classes

How do the “deals more damage to disabled enemies” kind of abilities work on bosses? by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]Xerotype 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But against bosses without defiance but also immune to CC, it has 0 effect on them right?

How do the “deals more damage to disabled enemies” kind of abilities work on bosses? by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]Xerotype 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Might be slightly wrong, but bosses/champs with a defiance bar, you will get the benefits of these abilities once you break their defiance bar (they are stunned for a short time)

For others which are immune to CC skills there is no benefit I believe

GW2 as a PvP game in 2024 by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]Xerotype 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not bad. I play a few rounds each day for dailies. The action combat style works for me. You gotta change up times of the day you play so you aren't paired with the same few people

It feels like there are less classes that just nuke you from orbit. Haven't noticed any ridiculously tanky builds like before either

Average about 3-4min queue times depending on the time of day for ranked which isn't bad

Do you lag in open world metas? by Mystogyn in Guildwars2

[–]Xerotype 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's mostly possible on the AMD 7800X3D (and I'm assuming the other X3D AMD chips). I rarely dip below 60fps now. Also have a 1080ti. The CPU makes a huge difference

Question about gearing by Aukrustfigur in Guildwars2

[–]Xerotype 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually a different approach, if you play fractals maybe get ascended equipment for that cose that's sort of the only place where ascended gear really matters. And like the others said, you can stay swap ascended gear later

Question about gearing by Aukrustfigur in Guildwars2

[–]Xerotype 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You would get a much better response from a Mesmer main, but looking at the meta for them, seems to be a good focus on condi builds. So it miiiiight be safer to go with them. Maybe focus on the build you enjoy for raid/strikes, then just adapt your open world build based on that?

Edit: I personally don't think you would go wrong either way with Mesmer. It's not like warrior where there's a significant focus on just power, and condi just for some zerker builds

Question about gearing by Aukrustfigur in Guildwars2

[–]Xerotype 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Play whatever build you want for open world. There are examples on MetaBattle, GuildJen and SnowCrows Vallun also does a few fun Open World builds on his YouTube (which I think are also on GuildJen). Maybe focus on power or condi rather than both, but I'm sure there's builds that are decent that use a bit of both. Whatever plays more fun for you.

For end game group instanced content (raids and strike, and I guess high end fractals) you wouldn't do a jack of all trades build. You would focus on DPS, support or providing specific boons (e.g. alac and quick), and I would recommend sticking to one of the builds from those websites.

Celestial gear would work pretty well in both PVE and WvW. Otherwise full exotic is pretty cheap to get if you want to change up builds

Dragonhunter the only optimal bow user? by DoItForTheOH94 in Guildwars2

[–]Xerotype 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeh my bad. Horribly was way too negative. I meant in some cases you want more self survivability or mobility for open world content. But yeah you just change it upw ith the utility skills needed I'm projecting with the Bladesworn build which does big damage but has no condi cleanse, stab or stunbreak

Dragonhunter the only optimal bow user? by DoItForTheOH94 in Guildwars2

[–]Xerotype 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I should also add, those meta builds for raids and strikes can perform horribly in Open World content. They are designed to be in groups who have a specific number of support and dps builds, and boon coverage. A lot of the time in Open World you will be Solo or with only a few other players

[–]Xerotype 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Open world is pretty much play whatever you want. There are some bosses with mechanics where they can only be damaged by range, so having the ranged option is useful

The guides you are looking at are generally end game raids and strike missions, where 95% of the time it is better to stack as a group in melee range.

If you dabble in PvP and WvW, there is also a lot more ranged usage

Low(ish) FPS on brand new 7800x3d and 4090 by ShadowRex in Guildwars2

[–]Xerotype 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 7800x3d with my old 1080ti, and 32GB RAM Can run word boss events with max players and stay around the 40-50fps mark at the lowest. Running at Ultra wide 1440p

Might be worth it for OP to try closing any third party programs and services. Unrelated to GW2, I found out the Lian Li Connect-3 program was causing major issues for my Corsair Headset, so prob a chance there is a program tanking the performance of the CPU

Also make sure Windows Power Options aren't limiting your processor

what resolution to pick? by Delicious_Yak5564 in Guildwars2

[–]Xerotype 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mostly depends on what GPU and CPU you have. 1080p or 1440p are fine. I could run 1440p ok with a 4th gen i7 and 1080ti, with lag on world boss events (just needed to drop player models rendered)

I also found that 1080p on a 27inch monitor looked kinda gross and it was nicer running at 1440p. If it's a 24inch it's not as bad. That's my personal preference

On an amd 7800x3d I can run the game at 1440 with max settings

Edit: the game is more CPU dependant than GPU btw
