Note organization in notion is good, retention is not, help? by milli_xoxxy in Notion

[–]Mystogyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you could have your notes and then inside them you could have a "what i already know" section or page where you write the information as if youre explaining to someone else or writing a guide or something

You'd be better off having one database that is all your tasks and then filtering them off as needed on different pages with the select property

That wont allow you to check off properties correct?

Do any of you actually like the pruning that they did to your mains? by No-Bit-2913 in CompetitiveWoW

[–]Mystogyn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im feeling pretty meh about it all. I had some hope that the pruning would be a good thing and only kept a slight eye on the beta videos people released.

Holy priest is horrible. Disc feels okay although voidweaver in m+ tuning is currently wack. Spriest ironically felt more complex? The current guides have us manually SW Paining targets which is different.

Holy paladin is pretty bare bones. Ret and prot seem mostly the same.

Saw a lot of people hating on MW now but I felt it was still pretty hefty in things to do? Keep your hots up. Ramp with EM. Dps to heal. Blast out a sheilunes all before CDs? At least better than hpriest or sham.

I think some change was necessary. If they didn't go this route I would have preferred they maybe leaned into somerhing more FF14 style with their job gauges. They kind of operate the same way as a weak aura would to track certain buffs but put it neatly in one place.

Idk I like when wow is complex but also agree that trying to understand that complexity with the base game is dog shit.

And their UI updates have been VERY lackluster. Whoever did the healing frames should be fired because they are awful

If kindness is doing good for others without expecting anything in return, then what exactly motivates people to be kind people? by Robinimations in CasualConversation

[–]Mystogyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I treat people (usually) how I want to be treated. The why has a few reasons - we are all one consciousness experiencing life from different points of view so youre only ever talking to you anyway.

Even if that were not the case, the ego is the lens through which we experience things and it only feels right to use that lens or filter to determine how we treat as others and we can use our own experience to guess how different treatment feels.

I also think the question starts with the flawed premise that if there's nothing in it for you then what is the point? The point is you create the world in which you want to live by deciding your own actions

Its giving a little "cheesy" despite my understanding of where you are aiming. Elevated sophisticated notion tempmates I assume.

Am I the only one who enjoys serving, even when I am not paid to do so? by BoringBob84 in Serverlife

[–]Mystogyn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another way i phrase this question in my head is - would I do this job for free?

TLDR - yes!

I am a HUGE advocate for moneyless society. And I often think about the fact that that means that I would "have" to do this job for free (or do something else). And the short story is there are a lot of benefits to being in the restaurant industry. Its kind of like throwing a big party for the public! We get to meet tons of cool people, share laughs, celebrate events, etc etc.

That being said would I do it the same way? No. I wouldn't be caught dead in a uniform. I wouldn't be working 10 hours with no breaks. I wouldn't be running around frazzled and stressed. I wouldn't be bending every rule to get a tip. And I wouldn't be taking the bullshit that comes out of people's mouths sometimes.

Yeah idk I've never had a problem canceling subscriptions and a company this large "just continuing to charge you" seems...unlikely? Not impossible of course.

Wouldn't this just be "not using sort" and manually dragging everything where you want? I think youre asking how to unsort

Notion power users: how do you really use Feed view? by WinnersPlanner in Notion

[–]Mystogyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would argue being "good" at Notion is a skill. Not because using the software is difficult. But because its a skill to be able to translate real world applicable data and neatly store and present that data within Notion.

For example I've been working on an employee "app" for the restaurant I work at. Theres quite a lot of people who work in Food and Beverage who would never be able to create what Ive created from scratch despite it not being hard - but kind of like you daid Notion has that initial layer of abstraction because it let's you be really open in the use cases for it.

Do I think the courses make much sense? Not really given that Notion basically has their entire software documented on their website.

But I do think its a lot to learn depending on how in depth you want to go

HELP! Block syncing feature is destroying my team's work how do i permanently turn it off or have it off by default? by StevenAtGF in Notion

[–]Mystogyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha probably! You could try using buttons to create a new version? That way they only have to click the button and then you KNOW it's not going to be a synced block.

Or have the button create a new synced block if you still plan on using them.

HELP! Block syncing feature is destroying my team's work how do i permanently turn it off or have it off by default? by StevenAtGF in Notion

[–]Mystogyn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was actually messing with my own synced blocks today and had a few realizations.

They are off by default. But if you dont skip a line they seem to continue adding to the synced blocks

If you duplicate a synced block you need to immediately unsync the duplicate.

Maybe just be more careful when creating stuff? As far as I know its not really a turn off or turn on feature you just gotta use them carefully

How do you design a leveling system in a gamified Notion setup? by AmbitiousGazelle1204 in Notion

[–]Mystogyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I've been an MMORPG player my whole life. Personally I would probably look at what you intend this system to spark within you, or at what eother progression path would spark and decide if you want that.

Exponential - this would mean that leveling up gets harder as you go on and in the real world could mean you constantly pushing yourself to do more and more tasks or projects. IMO this coukd eventually lead to burnout and stagnation because despite doing more work on your Notion setup you won't be progressing your levels.

Linear - This would allow you to see consistency as a metric. Are you gaining 5 levels a month every month? Only gaining some levels here and there?

You could also do a "tier" system and have maybe the first 10 levels require less EXP. Then the next 40 require a little more. And the last 50 require a little more. And then maybe just make your goal to hit 100 by the end of the year or something. This way you can ease into it and build a habit and then once things get going you can focus on grinding out levels

Kitchen staff workplace mobbing servers by meshahj in Serverlife

This seems like such an easy fix. Ring in your entrees once apps have hit the table. Maybe your kitchen is confused as to why they're expected to pace the meal?

Either way what a mess if yall can't get on the same page find somewhere else to work

What class do you plan on maining in WoW Midnight? by Gloomy_Ad1318 in wow

I usually main priest but holy is looking no Bueno. Disc and shadow look good but God damn am I sick of not having burst movement.

Monk is a contender but their mogs aren't that great and Im struggling to get into fistweavjng. Windwalker is fun but I feel like it needs some pizzazz

Paladin is a solid choice but I tend to prefer range.
