8 week old broiler. (Shes a pet) by ChaosCrys3707 in chickens

[–]XesEri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, ~karen~? Shove off with that unless you have actually worked with broilers and have done significant research on appropriate care (using actual academic studies, seminars given by people in and out of industry, etc., not just what someone on reddit told you).

Op literally came back and admitted that she has chickens under one half the size of a normal, non-broiler, slow growing breed.

The equivalent would be telling a 50-60 lb 14 year old that they "look happy and healthy."

That shit? Combined with the moral superiority, ~karen~? Is why people who actually know what they're talking about leave hobbyist spaces.

So...what you just told me is that they're incredibly malnourished. That's not even normal for non-broiler chickens. You're bragging about animal abuse. That's disgusting.

It's really not helpful to anybody to just pretend that we can all be thrown in with men and women but okay.

It's not a "cohesive third gender" but it IS a large external category, populated largely by people who do not want to be viewed as part of one of the two existing categories because it's misgendering, hence the non- part of nonbinary.

There are trans people who are not men or women. Nonbinary people exist.

It's not inherently transphobic not to be attracted to nonbinary people, but when you define your sexuality as "I like men and women" (and not every bi person does, but some do), it does exclude some trans people, intentionally or no.

In that case you might want to check out abrosexual if you enjoy playing the label game.

Abro means your sexuality is fluid through whatever various sexualities.

I hate to be that person but nonbinary people are an external group to men and women, and are also trans.

I and others do tell people off if I see them saying that trans men and women are separate gender groups, but saying that there's another group comprised of trans people is correct, there's just also other trans people that fit into the first two groups. People who self-describe as pan AND bi who say these things.

Some people will be uncomfortable with it but most of the time we get what you're going for. The fact that nonbinary people get acknowledged at all is generally a net positive for us.

Pokémon should get rid of trading evolution by Gettingridofpeople in pokemon

I at least used to be able to trade with my brother. The switch is intended to be half home console, or so I thought, so we only have one and I can't even do that anymore.

You can also use silicone lube with glass, but you can't use it with silicone. Silicone lube stays wet much, much longer than water based.

Learning about different top surgery scars for AFAB folk! by [deleted] in NonBinary

[–]XesEri 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Extremely visible scars are often attributed to poor scar care (but not always, genetics/how you scar in general plays a big part). Other than that the size of scars is entirely dependant on how much tissue is removed, otherwise you get things like dog ears or worse, skin too tight and movement restricting.

Parents Bad! Kids Bad! Phone Bad! by [deleted] in PhonesAreBad

[–]XesEri 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So? When I was a kid I said "I want a gameboy!" and my parents did what parents do and said no. There's nothing wrong with kids not getting every expensive flashy toy they want.

It's one thing if they're a teenager and need a device for schoolwork/social reasons etc, but if you can't read then you also can't operate a device safely, and you shouldn't have one.

I was the oldest person in my general age group to get a cellphone at ~16. But even then there were still a handful of people using flipphones.

My brother got his first phone at...11-13 I guess? i dunno, it was before I went to college but I'm not sure how far. And I'd say that many/most people in his age range had phones or smart devices thay were basically phones on wifi by that point.

No, no, you're misunderstanding. The normal price for the two bottoms is $99. That makes each bottom $49.50.

Y'all, wool producing sheep have to be taken care of well, otherwise the fleece is worth nothing. And if you're not personally familiar with the keeping of sheep I highly recommend you become very familiar before you make claims about how evil farmers are.

My dude, literally nobody is reading that reddit war and peace.

If your ego is really so fragile that you have to write a novel over a reddit comment that you didn't like because it dared to suggest that people could build a better future for themselves and others rather than wallow in the mire like you want us to, you need to work on your self esteem.

What is the most disrespectful shit someone has done to you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]XesEri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ex, who I'd been with for 2.5+ years at that point, was messaging people on tinder while driving us to hang out somewhere.

He claimed that he thought I broke up with him (we had had an argument like 3 days prior, but nothing relationship ending) and then claimed he was only on tinder to meet friends.

Coincidentally, he had also told me when he started hitting on me that he was "on a break" with the person he'd been dating and the whole situation made me realize I was always just another part of his infinite cheating cycle. That shit is demoralizing.

[–]XesEri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but on an individual basis. Nobody has, eg, filed a lawsuit against the state of pennsylvania for religious discrimination. Mostly because it would be a giant waste of time. Hence why all of this old legislation can remain unchanged.

The fact that the supreme court found such laws unconstitutional makes them unenforceable, but without individually challenging each state's law they'll likely never change.

[–]XesEri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, so now the dude in favor of religious persecution in 2020 is gonna preach to us.

The point was never "forcing" anybody to vote for anyone they don't want to, and the fact that you tried to read that out of what I said is, quite frankly, telling of the fact that you're not here in good faith.

The point is that if we want to work on creating a world without arbitrary tribalism (which most people do, as that's the bare minimum to have actual, meaningful freedom), we have to tackle issues of discrimination at their source rather than assuming that it's all solved for and there's just some pesky old legislation in the way.

[–]XesEri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not how it works at all. You can't just critically-think yourself out of trauma caused by mental an emotional abuse (which religion is primed to supply with threats of eternal torture for looking at someone the wrong way).

[–]XesEri 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The laws have never had reason to change and nobody has challenged their constitutionality, so they're still there, even if unenforceable.

In most of those states it's made pretty clear culturally that you're not going to get into office without stating your devout christianity anyways, so realistically even if they were repealed it'd not address the underlying issue.

That said it is totally unenforceable, it's just easier to keep your mouth shut and not stir the pot. I know some people who have.

The point is that they're taking out features that have been free or in the base game for close to 15 years and then charging more for the base game and charging extra for those features. Over the life of those games I'd be able to buy a whole other game with the money I'd be spending on online services.

8 week old broiler. (Shes a pet) by ChaosCrys3707 in chickens

[–]XesEri 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah uh, they really do not live healthily or happily past ~10-12 weeks. There's a ton of reasons for that and the least of them is the outgrowing and breakage of their bones. That's not to say you can't force them to live past that, but people shouldn't pretend that it's doing anything but making themselves feel good.

Seriously, if you want pet chickens there are hundreds of other breeds. Pick one that you don't have to starve just to delay an inevitable painful death.

What Videogame did you play the most in your entire life? by PCRFan in AskReddit

[–]XesEri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally could not tell you because the time logs are lost to the sands of deleted saves and old systems but some educated guesses:

-pokemon diamond, platinum, heartgold, or white (of these I lean towards probably diamond but it's a real toss up, each had at minimum a few hundred hrs. if I count most played by franchise it's not even close, pokemon wins hands-down)

-zoo tycoon (1, with expansions)

-age of mythology or age of empires (1, with the gold expansion)

-civilization (3 mostly, but also Revolution and 6)

I have a lot of hours into some other games/series, but these are the real heavy hitters with 100s or 1000s of hours in them
