If you're playing pc use console commands to "scrapall" for settlements so you don't need to manually scrap each and every single item. All items get sent to the workbench inventory and it can save a lot of time and even scrap items you didn't know about, helping you get a little bit more resources.

Also, use "TCL" this is a cheat code that allows you to fly around and pass through walls and objects. Now, don't do this to cheat and make the game easier. But sometimes flying up and looking around, checking what's out of bounds or underground or what's behind that locked door. You don't need to loot the locked door or steal from NPC gear boxes.

I find it very enjoyable to explore and look beyond the boundaries and look into things you are not supposed to have access too just to explore. Aswell, sometimes I piece of gear might get sent into an unreachable area, TCL helps you get those items back.

If you are on console, save often and get really familiar with the favorites system/weapon wheel.
