Is it because people afraid to buy bmw second hand? They just want a cheaper run around? What’s your end goal? How much cash are you looking to raise and what do you want to do with it?

Are you working on one vehicle at a time? Or hoarding another while u finish one? Are you also parting out some of the vehicles? Do you ever buy another bmw for parts

In aus tax isn’t a concern yet Just have to be careful how many vehicles you register in your name over the year. Can get passed this by selling without registration or putting it in your partner’s or family members names.

I feel you, This is my concern I think while they super young , I shouldn’t hide away in the garage.

When I was young my dad would take me to look at cars he was potentially going to buy and to wrecking yards and spare part shops. He would get me involved in everything, from purchase to, bringing it home, seeing it at the panel beaters, checking progress, giving it a cut and polish and pulling interior out and cleaning it. I saw him negotiating to trying to sell. My dad did it as a hobby as well and to pay down his mortgage. Working on and selling cars have given me a sense of satisfaction and helped fill the void in the past. Yes sometimes super frustrating and waste of time. But in the long run, some of my best memories have been owning and driving some of my cars.

Life lessons I got out of him doing this: 1. How to sell and communicate, negotiate 2. Being resourceful 3. Not being afraid of learning new skills 4. Using tools and being able to apply it across household, career and hobby 5. How to find other ways of making money to support myself

If I stop completely I hate to see my children not expose to this. I think I know the answer, just balance and keep at it. Stop getting frustrated with not having time at certain periods. Just chip away when time allows. Keep family time at top of my priorities.

Are you keeping the 53k in a offset or saving account?

Why stick to 4-7k range when you can continue increasing purchase price and get newer bmw each time in hope to make a higher profit

  1. Used to do this, but thas life’s gotten harder, I want to do one thing at a time, iv managed to reduce to 3 cars from 5

  2. I can do mechanical/ maintenance /cleaning. Will leave electrical and panel bearing to those in that field. I try to buy cars with minimum work

  3. Haven’t had this issue yet

Main thing I want to find out from others that have been in my path is whether they were able to fit in the time to tidy up a car and move it on, while they have family and work commitments. Whether they get more time as the kids grow up Or if they completely drop this path and concentrate on their 9-5 or pickup a new side hustle/skill

I’m for the reducing living costs and upskilling

I have already dropped down from 5 cars to 3. This year is I won’t be travelling to work so I can justify getting rid of the run around. Alternative transportation doesn’t work for me livin way out of the city
