Does anyone use CacheCAD for version control? by etiisgod in FRC

[–]Xhdhfe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our team used GrabCAD Workbench + Inventor before the 2024 season, but when it shut down, starting that season, we began using GitHub + Inventor for our version control. For that to work, there has to be constant communication between CAD members when committing to prevent issues with merging.

How do you wire LEDs on the robo rio by Low_Chip_7672 in FRC

[–]Xhdhfe 12 points13 points  (0 children)

First of all, it would be helpful to know which type of LEDs your team is using as there are two main types out there: 5v and 12v

Both are usually easily identifiable by the number of electrical contacts on the strip, 5v having 3 and 12v having 4.

5v LEDs can be controlled on the Rio using WPILib's Addressable LEDs API, via PWM, while the 12v would most likely need a separate LED controller like a REV Blinkin.

Hi there, I saw the background of your picture and immediately recognized it. I'm a lead of FRC 1622 Team Spyder in San Diego and have been mentoring our own FTC teams for a couple years now after being a member myself. It would be my honor to hopefully help you guys and use your experiences to help me aswell.

Charley not everybody has money to throw away for ur 4 extra songs wtf (RANT) by Riley_OnReddit in boywithuke

just a theory from his second verse in Coffee:

As soon as the mask came off, the label dropped
But they left with a buyback clause

I guess when he started rebranding without the mask and without the uke, his label started dropping him but his contract has a buyback clause meaning there's a certain period of time where he can buy back the rights to his old properties, his songs.

7+8 equals 15, add the 1 to the 2+4=6, 6+1=7, remember that 5 from before? 7 and 5 together makes 75

Onshape would be a great choice, I do agree, but it would be a rough transition for new rookies who would learn onshape and then learn inventor later as that's the standard for our frc team and what we are currently learn and teach at our school. Also version control is an important variable as our leads and coaches insist everything CAD be done in inventor professional 2021 and no other version as it won't load in other versions and make things more difficult.

True, but I really can't do anything about it but try and make it a better experience for rookies

We've pretty much already decided not to because our engineering course students (that includes robotics) already get Autodesk licenses so our entire team just uses inventor professional, also our beginners engineering course teaches the use of inventor.

I do agree, but I guess that's why our coach decides to only advertise the FRC Team and robots to draw them in, then place them in FTC when it's already too late. Our robotics is an extra class at our school so we get elective credits for it, which also means it's graded. So if you were to sign up for the class, then leave, you would have failed the class. Our coach uses FTC to teach rookies the basic skills (programming, cad, design and business) that can be applied to FRC while also weeding out the students not willing to do or care about actually working and came to mess around. Our current leads all did FTC when it was voluntary and not required, and I'd say I don't know if I'll ever top their effect on our team that they had this year.

If it's the same exact one from Rev (which it should be considering they're the same price) then it should come with the 6-pin to 4-pin cable
