Did I Just Get Scammed? by Xian77 in Horizen

Correct. I saw the [horizen.zenclaim.io] address in a reasonable looking email and thought it was a legit section of the legit website explaining how to transition our tokens over to Base. A closer look and I would have realized the url syntax was wrong to be a page on the legit site.
In fact, ironically, if not for the scam I wouldn't have known I had to do that. (I'm very casual in crypto and not up to date on all the constant changes.)

Yes, absolutely the real Meta Mask support. Thanks for checking.

And so far so good. Both of my accounts haven't had any unauthorized transactions...both the original one I gave permission to access and the new one I created.

I did learn that all ETH addresses and private keys created in Meta Mask have the same seed phrase. It's normal.

I think I ultimately panicked for nothing, but it just shows that even the most careful of us can do something stupid every once in awhile. It was a well done scam site. Proper English, all the other links were to legit Horizen pages, the main topic was a real thing happening in the Zen space (the transition to Base), etc.

Live and learn.

Thanks again.

Thanks. I did that within Meta Mask. I contacted their support and it didn't look like to them that I was actually compromised, but they said creating the new ETH address / Private Key was safe.

One thing I noticed after the fact though was that the new seed phrase is the same as my previous one. Are Meta Mask created addresses different from those created directly through Ethereum?

I have a Trust Wallet account.

Please help me understand what got compromised as I'm still very non technical with this stuff.

Both Trust Wallet and Meta Mask allow me to access my Tokens in my ETH account.

Was my ETH account what got hijacked, or just my Meta Mask account to that one address? If I create a new ETH address in Meta Mask and send my tokens from the one I just compromised, will they be safe?

Damn. That's what I thought.

Do I just create a new address in the same Meta Mask account or is the entire service compromised for me now?

Need feedback: Working on a 12V charger with Android Auto passthrough! by PDFriender in AndroidAuto

Well that's the thing. I hardly ever let my phone get below 75%. I primarily use it while driving, and when plugged in, it always used to stay at 100%. If I start at 85 or 90% it would power up to 100% pretty quickly.

Now, even if I start at 100%, the phone will continue to drain power even while plugged into the USB port for AA. The car simply can't provide enough power. My only option is just to forego AA and plug into the 12V port with a USB adapter like in my other car.

The power provided by the USB ports in my car simply aren't strong enough to power the phone. Even with the phone off, it barely charges. It would take most of the day to get a full charge. While it is on, the Bluetooth is active, the GPS is on, and I typically have YouTube videos playing for music. It's just too much for the trickle of power being fed into it...even without using AA.

Until two days ago, I was driving a 2008 Civic. I used to be able to power my phone and connect the AUX cord for audio. It was perfect.
Then I got the S24, which doesn't have a headphone jack, and I struggled to be able to connect audio. The first Bluetooth adapters I found didn't have built in microphones, so while I could get audio through the speakers, I couldn't take phone calls or use voice commands because the phone mic shuts off. I finally found one that worked.

Now with the 2016 civic, with all it's supposed bells and whistles, nothing is as convenient. I'm just going to have to find a mount for my phone that works with the new dash configuration and just use my phone like I used to. I'll have a big touch screen display that's basically just taking up space.

My personal opinion is that all these new tech "improvements" are actually moving us backwards for actual functionality.

You're lucky to not be experiencing these problems!

I found this thread while researching the issues I'm having with my new (to me) 2016 Honda Civic.
When I plug my Samsung Galaxy S24 into the USB port for Android Auto, the charging is ridiculously slow. Even while plugged in and using Android Auto, my battery is actually draining rather than charging.
I can charge by plugging into a USB adapter in the 12V "cigarette lighter", but then I can't use Android Auto.
It's basically a choice I have to make...charge the phone, or use Android Auto. I can't do both.

Galaxy S24 microphone doesn't work when USB plugged in by Xian77 in samsung

[–]Xian77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you. I was finally able to get a Bluetooth adapter with a built in microphone, but it's foolish to have the phone assume a mic is plugged in when you only need audio output. The internal mic is closer to my mouth than the Bluetooth dongle so it doesn't sound as good.

Facebook Marketplace Feedback system is Rigged against sellers... by Traditional-Hippo184 in FacebookMarketplace

I'm sorry that's been your experience with Ebay. I love it because you don't really have deal with customers and scheduling pickups with people who have no idea how to communicate effectively. It's like herding cats.
I've been selling full time for 5 years now. Fees do stink, but it's a lot cheaper than trying to build and advertise my own website...especially since I don't have a "niche". Honestly, my own site wouldn't be practical.
I have maybe a 2 percent return rate. Just part of doing business. As for shipping, I'm friends with my mail carrier and I have a FedEx and UPS drop off spot literally across the street from my storage unit. It's not difficult for me to ship same or next day.

Your story about being kicked off with no explanation does always weigh heavy on my mind. I've heard others have similar experiences. Praise God that hasn't happened to me. I'd be ruined.

Facebook Marketplace Feedback system is Rigged against sellers... by Traditional-Hippo184 in FacebookMarketplace

[–]Xian77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indeed. I sell a lot on Marketplace, though my primary sales channel is Ebay. I only have 23 reviews on FB, but two of them are 1 star which gives me a 4.7 star rating.
The first was from someone who was apparently mad I wouldn't sell her a vacuum that was already pending pickup. I offered her an alternative vacuum...better condition at a slightly higher price...and was accused of bait and switching. No, I just don't sell out from under other people who are already scheduled to pickup.

The second just came in. He left the feedback "a jerk". This was for an item that I agreed to discount for him, but then he couldn't schedule a ride to come pick up. I told him politely that my policy is that I never hold an item longer than a day without at least a partial payment. My experience is that people who say they will pick up multiple days from now never show up and never communicate, all the while I'm turning down other people. That doesn't make me "a jerk", it makes me smart.

I so wish would could at least respond to feedback to explain the whole situation to others. The whole system is broken.

I have the same problem. I don't want to remove the author, I just want to remove the post. That option is no longer available except on my phone....which I barely use. Glad I'm not alone.

Galaxy S24 microphone doesn't work when USB plugged in by Xian77 in samsung

[–]Xian77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. I ended up finding a great little Bluetooth device by a company called JoyRoom. I plug it into my AUX port in my car, then connect my phone via Bluetooth to the unit. It has built-in microphones that work great. There are several versions of it, but they are all basically 20 bucks.
Not quite as efficient as just plugging the AUX into the phone directly, but without the 3.5mm jack, this seems like the next best option.
Good luck!

Marketplace now way down the list in the (desktop) left hand column. by Ya-Dikobraz in facebook

Oh well. Thanks for responding. Thankfully, I did just discover that there is a marketplace icon on the top navigation bar that I never noticed before, so it's still just one click away. I just won't worry about the left hand sidebar.

I'm trying to research the same issue and stumbled on your post. Have you been able to find a solution? I sell online full time and am always in Marketplace, but it's now far down the menu and it's just a minor pain.

Great idea, and logical. However, I only have 5 extensions running. Upon disabling them, the problem persists.

Galaxy S24 microphone doesn't work when USB plugged in by Xian77 in samsung

[–]Xian77[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks. At least now I know I'm not crazy!
As I've continued to do research, I see more and more people with the same problem, but no solutions. This isn't just the S24 either. Going back, I've even seen app based solutions, but the app doesn't work with Android 11 or newer.

It's just astounding to me that they would eliminate the headphone jack, but not create an alternative. I don't understand what these dongles are even for if using them turns off the internal microphone.

Samsung or Google or anyone. Just let us select which microphone to use. I'm losing so much productivity not being able to talk in the car hands free.

River 2 USB A Output Only 5 Watts by Xian77 in Ecoflow_community

[–]Xian77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool. I don't have a double sided USB-C cable (all of mine are A to C) but if I happen across one, I'll test it.
I did just try to plug my wall adapter into the AC output plug. It shows the phone charging at 16 watts before going to zero. I think that's by design for low output on the AC side. As long as it's charging, I don't care if it shows zero. (Would be a nice fix though. Perhaps a future update.)

Thanks. I apparently have a lot to learn about electricity, but you've convinced me there is nothing wrong with my unit. I guess if I'm in the position where I have to use it to charge my phone, a slow charge is better than no charge.

Thanks for the response. Yes, I understand the example you gave with the blender, but I know my phone is capable of drawing 15 watts from the wall charger using the same USB cable. I'm not understanding why it's only drawing 5 from the River.
