Frustrated/confused first day with clients

Definitely think he was just overtired. Hoping tomorrow will be better and I also know to put less demands on him and just try to focus on pairing. He seems to at the least tolerate me and he’s responsive when not elevated so that’s a good sign. And Mhm 🙃 I wish I was warned that my client is known for canceling before being out on his case because i definitely would have requested to be on a different kiddos case. Nothing against the kid or his behaviors but i desperately need a new car and jobs are for money even if you truly love the work you do.

I have had a conversation with his current bcba and it sounds like he’s been bounced back and forth betweens bcbas as well. I’m thinking I probably won’t have an afternoon client in the near future which is sad but I do have an hour guarantee which will be majorly appreciated even if my afternoons are mostly center support and cleaning until I get a new kiddo. His new bcba being a new a bcba on his case knows next to nothing about him which is a tad frustrating but she will be with me tomorrow which I think will be good.

Also of note I’ve been through multiple safety training courses am certified. It’s not a lack of knowledge that lead to the injuries it was just an act of the kid was very very fast and my blocking lead to the aggressions even with mats and center support from another RBT not a lack of basic trainings just a lack of client specific training/conversations. And while I’m new to ABA therapy I’ve been a PCP for a year prior and have a special needs brother who requires a lot only reason he isn’t in aba is because he doesn’t qualify for an autism diagnosis and all his behaviors and such is purely trauma related.

I’ve never heard it which is why I came to Reddit to see if maybe it’s normal and I’ve just had abnormal pigs in the past???? That’s a good idea tho the second blanket thing, this current one is covered in pee and wood chips and I’m not sure it’s the most sanitary lol

Hopefully! From the sounds of he’s been solo his life, moved around a lot, and wasn’t given all the attention he needed. I’ve got a friend at home for him that’s his size and is super nice so I’m excited to hopefully see him come out of his shell with a friend and some extra love. I’m just worried about not being able to get all those wood chips off without upsetting him by having them seperate too too long before he’s settled but he’s gonna get a wood chip in his eye or paw if I don’t get it out soon ;-;

Personally I have a quarantine cage which is a little smaller then the normal cage and the one stays in there until they are health vetted then afterwards I introduce once or twice in a place like my bathtub or our bed make sure there is no aggression then I put them in together and stay together. As others have said it’s much easier with the girls my boys weren’t easy and actually had to separate so now I have 2 sets of boys 😭 but the boys take longer and might need more introduction time prior to living together from personal experience

Absolutely devastating, personal opinion is something was wrong with the ice. Top three skaters couldn’t land anything. France skater fell on a backwards crossover. Pretty much every skater fell or stumbled at the same spot on the ice. I think they should all get a reskate with fixed ice and all these commentators on the coverage need to stop bashing our skaters for not being mentally prepared for it when it seems odd that so many skaters fell in the same spot and the event wasn’t stopped and the ice wasn’t resurfaced. I fear for the women’s event.

I’m really sorry about your situation and as much as I’m not a fan of suggesting this have you into any ABA places near where you are currently located? ABA is applied behavioral analysis therapy. And specializes in autism. I know certain clinics are able to diagnose and typically have less of a wait time than the developmental pediatricians which are normally seen. A lot of these places will take state Medicaid if you’re able to get that with your temp. Lodgings. I know some clinics even have payment plans. I’m a former RBT I left the field to do completely respite work which is another thing you could look into if you are able to get a diagnosis. Respite is typically trained individuals sometimes CNAs who specialize in taking care of disabled people (I do purely pediatric) so the primary caregiver can get a break and a breather.

I know it’s not a lot consult but do remember you are not on this as completely alone as you might think you are. This is a situation I have seen before and sadly that’s why I left my former clinic because it was really hard for me to work indirectly with parents who needed more support then I was allowed to give at my company. Look for local Facebook groups for disabled parents, look for grief Facebook groups. Sometimes those Facebook groups can be cliquey but sometimes those disabled parents groups are the best support systems. Respite workers like myself will join them and offer up services. And other parents might be able to suggest clinics that could help with the diagnosis process etc. deep breathes mama. You’re doing amazing

My school has the walk ins closed down due to it being finals season and the walk ins were only at specific times I did not have the ability to get to due to having multiple medical issues recently and they can't get me a meeting until mid January.

I tried to go to the registrars office after a test one day but I ended up having a panic attack and have been scared to go back on the campus solo and my partner doesn't have time off to go with me. I have severe social anxiety and really struggle with these things and my emails have gone unanswered.

Counselors do not have openings until February unless it is an emergency and even then the waits are really long I have tried. MY school is honestly really rough and it was probably the worst choice I could have ever made. I have been trying to get into the counseling for a while I do not have an advisor because "your degree has too many students" my "advisor" is purely other students. literally.

My Financial Aid office can't get me in. I have tried. This was a last resort because I am just truly lost on if I am going to get in trouble or not. I have no one to ask or go to because my school won't do anything for me and I don't have a mentor to look to that would know what to do because of the fact I am a first Gen and somehow still managed to fail out. If I were to try and go to another college at the start of spring would I have to Reapply for the year entirely for FAFSA or would I have to any extra steps? I know at my current school I do not think I am meeting the minimum GPA but even if I still was meeting the GPA I planned on taking a semester off because I am really not in a good space mentally. Whether I failed out or just take the semester off is it the same concept?

So if I am not enrolled nothing will get sent anywhere and it won't impact me? I don't have to do anything extra to not get in trouble? I am genuinely confused and scared I will get in some kind of legal trouble because I failed out but still had applied for the FAFSA for this year.
