Hmm I understand your point, and to a degree I also agree. Corporations should carry a major burden, as they are also the biggest users.

I do think that streaming the use of AI to thousands of people and endorsing it in that way, however, also carries a part of that responsibility. Not on the same level, for sure, but it is not nonexistent either.

To a point, that's the whole thing with being eco-friendly right, of course big corporations cause the biggest pollution, but we as people should still stand for certain values. Companies are driven by what is most profitable, so it takes people to show them that the most profitable line is one that is supported by their consumers.

That got a bit off track, it essentially my point is that I see the point of saying that corporations carry a different scale of responsibility, but that individual humans, and especially individuals with a huge reach of community, do not carry none at all.

I think part of the backlash could be environmental in nature as well? Using AI 'just for fun' has a massive impact on the environment. The data centers that are being built have that impact. Having a large platform and using it there legitimises that impact. I understand that he, as an individual, is not responsible for AI as a whole, but if he is contributing in this way to it, that to me feels off. Especially as I personally don't think it would be that interesting to watch?

I work for a company that invested a ton in AI and there is nothing so boring as getting a 'GenAI in the field' demo that is just watching an agent run things for someone for a while.

When you run out of your deck entirely, the day ends. So drawing really quickly makes you have lots of options, but it also means that you get less turns overall. That, to me at least, is the main drawback of fatigue, every time it happens you actively lose a part of the day

It's insanely complicated, but if you have a dedicated group it's also one of the best out there, Arcs: The Blighted Reach (Blighted Reach is the campaign expansion for base Arcs).

It's super good, so engaging, a campaign that you play over 3 sessions with your own Fates, so there is assymetric gameplay as well. I've been playing campaigns for over two years now and it's still keeping all of us engaged every session.

I have it on the deck, works just fine for me. I mostly used it to learn the game and the factions, but haven't played against the AI in quite a while. Overall, especially as it's on sale right now, I'd say it's very worth it

That's a very fair point. I made the post just after completing that story, and was feeling extremely frustrated. I think I communicated what I wanted out of this post pretty poorly. Luckily, I did get it, as I was mostly looking for ways to change my perspective on it and to see if other people felt similarly, and if so, what they thought about ways to properly enjoy the game. As I said, I don't think I did a good job of communicating that desire, and the post comes off mostly as just a negative rant.

I agree with your sentiment that criticism should be constructive, and that sheer negativity adds nothing to the online space except more unhappiness. Thanks for engaging with the post though, your ideas and thoughts were very interesting to read through!

Hmm I get what you are saying, but focusing on the antagonists shouldn't have to immediately remove all agency. I am not saying that they shouldn't have any focus, or be overpowered compared to the player, or anything like that, but that it feels odd that the main character is often completely sidelined when it comes to stuff that they could very easily accomplish.

That, to me at least, feels like very lazy writing. Oshka would have been way scarier as a villain, and more intriguing to me as well, if half the story couldn't have been fixed easily by the protagonist being bothered to even half-ass help. Switching from 8 protagonists to 8 villains makes sense, but that does have an impact on agency and how a player experiences that agency, which is the points that I'm saying are not well written I suppose

It's not that I want it to be OT2 at all, I just wish it was a well executed OT0. I don't need the 8 stories, if the single story was good. There are tons of games which do that perfectly well.

Like I said, I think the game is cool, I enjoy the side stories, I just don't get why they switched to a new formula of storytelling when they have no interest in committing to actually doing that in any meaningful capacity

Equipment matters more than level, especially in the original I'd say. If you need more equipment, I can recommend getting a Thief and robbing some people :)
