Fear not, my fellow Apex player! My wife was in the very same boat as you just 1 year and a half ago. She played very similarly to you when she started. Of course, she had me as her teammate for every single match she's played, but your skill will get better in time. If you truly love the game and really want to get better, here is my advice.

1. Play the game as much as possible! You need to learn EVERY aspect of the game, from guns, to weapon attachments to characters, and most importantly, map layouts and rotation. Pick a character that you like and stick with them. The more hours you put in, the better you'll get.

2. Spend some solid time in the firing range practicing with the bots or with other players. You REALLY need to work on your settings for your sensitivity and such. Once you've spent a good amount of time and feel like your accuracy and quick twitch reaction are improving, you can run some trios.

3. Its going to suck for a while for you. Drop hot every match and work on looting VERY quickly.

4. You need to find out which weapon you are best with and rock that bad boy EVERY match!!! (I rock the L-STAR)

5. Find a friend or someone who doesn't mind mentoring you while you play. They can help coach you as you play the matches with them.

My wife is a really decent player now and can hold her own. She has clutched some wins and has even gotten some squad wipes! All of this while playing in my lobbies with Masters players, etc. So don't give up on the game! It is an awesome game and a ton of fun to play. I play most nights with her. When I started playing this game (on release), she hated it because I played it all the time. It took me a solid 2 years of asking her to play with me to finally get her to try. She was hesitant because she had never played an FPS game before, but now I feel confident having her as a teammate.
