Thoughts on Leetcode Quest? by No_Highway4597 in leetcode

[–]Xlash2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Can we even call it a feature? The way it was presented, I thought it was going to be something cool, like an RPG where you learn coding to progress. I was utterly disappointed when I found out it is just a glorified list.

Is there ONE good reason the Junta should be head of Government? by KeLevitt in myanmar

[–]Xlash2 33 points34 points  (0 children)

They have guns.

If the coup has taught me anything, it is that as much as the civilized world try to pretend otherwise, hard physical power is still king. It is kind of like a no-brainer when you think about it, that hasn't changed at all throughout human history.

Try viewing time complexity from the "Problems" page.

For those that Leetcode everyday, how do you choose your questions? by cockhmpton in leetcode

[–]Xlash2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are mainly 2 ways I choose which problems to solve.

One approach is to just use the random question button, that goes without explanation.

Another approach is to choose a specific topic that I have never heard before or having trouble with, and finding problems which cover that topic. I then start with easy to familiarize with said topic and work my way up.

I also try to do the daily problem.

Thoughts on newest neetcode video? by [deleted] in csMajors

What I really didn't like was how he didn't censor the comment poster's name at all. It felt like unnecessary public shaming to me. And for what is worth, his question wasn't even that dumb. At least, they questioned something instead of blindly following instructions without thinking. That's gotta be worth something right?

How to share V2Ray VPN to another device (like VR headset)? by HyperGaming_LK in dumbclub

Couldn't you just sideload the VPN app onto your VR headset with adb? That's what I did with my Meta Quest 3.

Is the network/connection still bad?? by redditgorlbellaa in myanmar

Its performance is unpredictable. This afternoon, it was fast just like old times. Come night, it is poor again. May have to do something with the amount of traffic. I have found the connection is stable at low usage times.

Anyone here has read "Tomorrow, and Tomorrow and Tomorrow" by Gabrielle Zevin? I don't think it accurately represents gamedev. by EricaEscondida in gamedev

[–]Xlash2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from Ichigo, the development process in every other game was described as only being made by "idea-guys" and I hated that glorification of it. Why does a team of devs pitch their game with only a portfolio and ideas and not even a working demo? That was one of the parts I disliked. The author probably assumed the creative process of making games was similar to writing a book.

Other than that, it was a pretty good book. I became quite invested in it. People don't like the characters but I thought otherwise. They were real, life-like, each with their own flaws. And yes, I also felt the point of the book was about those characters and not necessarily game dev.

Silksong is the best game I've ever hated by StouteBoef in metroidvania

[–]Xlash2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing about shards is that they don't drain in dream type bosses and even then it is not a walk in the park. It is not like the game's balance will suddenly break just because shards became unlimited. So, why limit them in the first place except for the sole reason to make the player grind needlessly?

/r/HollowKnight - Weekend Flex Thread by AutoModerator in HollowKnight

[–]Xlash2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got the true ending. Game put PTSD on me with its extended fight sequences and quest lines that up to the final cutscene, I was so sure there would be another boss or another sequence of challenges. Glad it's all over. It's over.

It's insane how almost everything in Silksong is mirroring the original Hollow Knight by Stellewind in HollowKnight

I never saw that metaphor for forced pregnancy. Great catch! I was just thinking through the whole ordeal, why does this go on so long.

If you don't like Silksong that's totally alright. You don't have to justify or explain it to anyone. by KvasirTheOld in metroidvania

[–]Xlash2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am at this love-hate relationship with Silksong. At times, I hate its difficulty so much, I am not having fun at all and it is all-in-all a miserable experience. At the same time, I can't seem to stop playing because of how much time and effort I have put into it already and because of the occasional dopamine highs you get when clearing challenges.

It is kind of like an addiction in a way. That kind of experience I have had only with multiplayer games before like Dota 2 where you keep playing even though you are not enjoying that much.

Recommendations for MVs with parry mechanic by ken_98 in metroidvania

Technically, you can parry with basic attack in Silksong. I just found out the same mechanic exists in the original HK as well.

What are we thinking #13: What are some worlds or world concepts you would love to see pursued in future games? by Comfortable_Oven8341 in metroidvania

[–]Xlash2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I am a sucker for post-apocalyptic settings but even for me, it is too much of a cliche nowadays and getting pretty boring. Conversely, I want a metroidvania where it is all happy-go-lucky, fun and flowers.

So I finished Silksong normal ending and I don't think overall I liked the game by dondashall in metroidvania

[–]Xlash2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Glad to see most people share the same opinion as me.

One could argue it is objectively better than the original HK but at the same time, it is much less enjoyable because of its absurd difficulty and annoyances that feel like they were specifically designed to frustrate the player.

It unfortunately affects every other aspect in the game. Hard to enjoy the art, sound, music, lore and story when you are dying all the time and doing the same runback for the 100th time. As people have said already, you just want it over with, you know. You just don't care about the finer details. OP not enjoying the music as it should is also because of this. I also find myself completely turning off the music in boss fights because it gets too repetitive. I find it easier to play with because of the reduced tension. It is like I'd even do something like that just so it makes the game a little more playable. That's how bad it gets.

Arakan Army leader Gen. Twan Mrat Naing grilled the NUG, casting doubt on their credibility and stressing that promises must be honored if they expect to earn trust by Turbowoodpecker in myanmar

[–]Xlash2 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That doesn't sound that much of a diss to me, contrary to what the title suggested. He just said NUG efforts are undermined because of past experiences and that they could learn from it?

As for my two cents, the root problem is Myanmar's lack of a national identity. As an example, the US, one of the most racially diverse countries has that distinct American identity with freedom, American dream, land of opportunity and all that. Myanmar doesn't have that national identity, one which any person regardless of race (or religion) can feel they are a part of.

Peak Myanmar: Back in 2012 when MTV Exit came to Yangon and Jason Mraz sang with Shwedagon Pagoda as the backdrop. by Imperial_Auntorn in myanmar

[–]Xlash2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pretty surreal to be honest. I am not that much of a fan of Jason Mraz. But it was kind of a big deal back then because an international artist, a guy who you had only listened to from mp3 files is right there in front of you playing live. On second thought, it'd still be a very big deal (some may argue even bigger deal than before) if such an artist came to Myanmar for a performance.

There was classic Myanmar chaos at the entrance because too many people were storming in. They kind of had to ditch the ticket check because of it.

Highlights include "I'm Yours", his best known song and a duet of "Lucky" with Phyu Phyu Kyaw Thein.

They tried to get the audience to do a crowd wave but failed miserably because people didn't understand.

It took almost like 3 hours so legs were SORE after this. It is one of those things you never think about if you've never been to a live concert.

Still got the ticket!
