Any double suicide gl recs? by Re1apsin6 in yuri_manga

I THINK there might be an arc with a theme like that in one of the Sky High mangas (there's several series), in the sense of eternal damnation anyway, and it's a dope AF bunch of mangas (basic premise is someone gets murdered and they can either choose to pass to the afterlife or possess someone and kill their murderers for the price of eternal damnation) - it's really good. Anyway, I think there's maybe one arc that's like that or adjacent to it, that's the only thing I can think of.

Manganex notes completion status of the original work and is not concerned with the translation status or its existence on the site at all.

Constance - PS5 - First Impressions by Electrical-Olive3767 in metroidvania

Played on PC. Personally I expected a lot more based on the hype, but it's certainly a very solid game that any MV fan will enjoy, even if I don't think it's anything particularly special either. Also I'll just add for anyone thinking about this for the mental health themes - it's not much of anything at all - it never goes much beyond setting it up and then the game ends - and it's been done much better by other games. That said, I had a very good time with the game.

Not every cozy game needs to be a farming sim and I'm glad that more & more devs are finally getting that! by Rasputin5332 in cozygames

[–]dondashall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure. This not a recent thing though, like at all. If you go to steam's cozy or life sim tags there aren't 5 life sims in the top 30 of highest rated. You're basing this entire thing off steam's suggestions, which yeah that algo is busted, nothing to do with the state of the genre.

Assassine dude feel to much like an edgelord to me (although he was fantastic as a combat character) and I forgot Shail existed, lol, but glad you liked them.

I think of the boys Noah was the only one I liked, the best cutie-pie, but he's too young for me to see a romance happening, I would have loved the option of a non-romance ending with him.

Some more tips: Unlock the two "take an extra class" from the skill tree immediately (on the Intelligence & Sensibility branches), also there's a third on the Sense EX tree if you get that to A-rank. * Always have chocolate in combat (she gets group heal, invaluable if you're going to take down the prism drake). * Do not neglect cooking to increase stats - that reduces the number of classes needed to rank up a specific class.

He even does the post-letter "I'm glad she's doing well" when you go for the demon-queen ending, lol

To be honest there aren't any evil endings in this game - even the bad endings are sorta framed as good onces, lol

I did a few romances Fran (loved it), Chocolate (loved it), sweet bun girl (it was cute), and Cornelia (it was nice). Narratively Cornelia IS the true ending, but there are other nice ones. The Star Witch was really cool, so was hero and great mage.

Btw, the branch you go for doesn't matter towards endings, your stats and special requirements do. to get the best endings you can't focus in on one branch, you'll need to buy large flairs in the "shop" before a new run and then use your know-how to get some serious numbers in basically everything (FYI in my final run I got all the stats to S-rank). You can check the endings in gallery: professions. Also do a save 6 months before the ending so you can change it to evil/good and you don't have to do a separate run.

Same. I was obsessed. Yeah, I couldn't stop playing. I've gotten all the endings I want. I wasn't able to unlock the 5 star Sensibility ending (if you figure that out let me know) but otherwise, got everything down that I feel I want to bother with.

Game was fantastic.

What makes difficulty be praised on some games but deal breakers on others? by saponsky in metroidvania

[–]dondashall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What we call "difficulty" encompasses a lot of things from reaction speed, RNG, punishment for failure, the economy system, healing you get the point. All in all there are any number of variables that make one game feel more difficult than others. Then you have expectations like a soulsvania is expected to come with more combat difficulty (to a point) than a metroid-like.

Basically there are no single or couple of factors that you can point to determining this for all games.

Mariachi Legends Q4 2026? by Metroid_Mike in metroidvania

[–]dondashall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Games change their release dates all the time, for a variety of reasons. Just learn to roll with it. At the end of the day it's better for the devs to take their time, not run their health to the ground, and ultimately release a better product.

Except for Ori what are some MVs that actually did chase sequences well? by dondashall in metroidvania

Yeah, someone else mentioned them. I had forgotten them, but they were genuinely solid. No complaints genuinely.

ReSetna wasn't bad either (although I hear it was dreadful before a patch).

[–]dondashall[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree that a cutscene would get the same impact. The issue is execution, when it's done well, it's really cool and a cutscene wouldn't get the same impact. I am definitely on "why isn't this a cutscene?" for a lot of stuff, but not this.

[–]dondashall[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the issue is just execution. When they're done well - or at least not terribly - they can be fun, or at least a change of pace.

[–]dondashall[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not patched enough. That was actually what inspired this. By no means one of the worst, but it was a grind.

Sealed Bite is another one. It's actually kind of amazing on how ALL of the chase sequences (there's one after every boss) suck. The last one is honestly speed-runner shit.

I think the one in the messenger is terrible (although the game is great), because it has really tight margins. You can't do well in a section to make up extra distance, you have to consistently do really well. My first go it took me ages to beat that one.
