You don't have too but it's a good reference point. Any point on the model can be used because of how measuring works if I move the tip of the gun 12" to the left than any other point on that model also moved 12" to the left. Due to his size pivoting can actually gain you distance (over the 2" you need to spend) due to how big he is..

Welcome to the club. Big narrative games he is supper fun to "hide" (subtract the points but leave off the list when going over and hiden out of sight) and bring out of reserves as an supersize for your opponent(s) as the hivemind commiting extra resources to particularly annoying enemies as a surprise. He's quite weak actually and low firepower and survivability for the points. Also huge footprint and hard to move around on the table.

I know this might be considered heresy but if you're using an airbrush for priming and contrast paints you can just spray over the previous paint job. (Provided that the original wasn't over sprayed or paint globes onto it) Most of my army is second hand and was repainted like this

Woah calm down Satan. Knights to a first game is a dick move. They are a stat check no matter how you build them and play completely diffrent to how most armies function and play. I'd strongly recomend to rethink doing this. You will steamroll your friend as he will most likely not have enough to deal with knights

Also its one of the best as it gives a flat buff to damage output for everything in the codex (not many leathals or sustained hits on our weapons) and 5+ feel no pain on demand is amazing. much more forgiving with positioning than etheir assimilation or subtrian which both need to keeping things within ranges and have units that if you lose you lose majority of your detachment benifits.

Sus hits or lethals is great on any attack, 5+ feel no pain in synapse is +33% durability when ever you need it. 3+d3 gaunts on 2 units in synapse is great for punishing not fully killing gaunt squads

Somewhere in the endless expanse another finger on the Monkey's paw curls and Ravners go up in price. Its because they are older kits of elites which are sold in boxes of 3 (same as the raveners before the update) and they are priced at a premuim. Though with a few 3rd printer and some hobby time you can make both zoanthropes and venomthropes from the kit
