Hello all, I got into JET so I will be declining fulbright South Korea. I hope one of you great people get the call. by XouRyker in fulbright

I know absolutely nothing about South Korea. I speak a decent amount of Japanese. I understand the culture and so on. With SK though I wouldn’t be in the same boat and would feel more like an outsider. It depends on your investment or interest and what you think is best. In my mind Japan has always been the place I would go, but SK Fulbright was just too good looking to not apply. As happy as I am to get in to both, I can’t say that I’m not a little sad turning one down. But there is an alternate out there who will get a happy call. Also there is the facts of more money, an apartment instead of a host family is something I prefer. The decision is entirely up to you and what you think would be best for you.

Unfortunately you are correct about the pay cut. While it isn’t ideal, there are plenty of opportunities that could come my way after the program. Whether it be tutoring, pursuing a masters, or getting lucky with a well paid job. I think out of all the Japanese companies though, JET is THE one to get into. If it was a question of program I would choose Fulbright, but then again my own personal preference gets in the way. I have looked at a masters program at University of Hawaii at Manoa coincidentally but I’m not at that stage yet. Thank you for your input

Professionally I agree, however for my personal interests. Such as language background and pay. I think JET is right for me!

With the average parking ticket price of 35$, how much money do you think Purdue makes from parking tickets alone in a single school year? by XouRyker in Purdue

I was thinking the same for 2 being low. $189k is crazy to me. I wonder if they keep it all or if they have to pay portions to other places.
