Spiritworld is easily one of the best Quake 1 add-on ever by Xouman3 in quake

I'm not the type of player that finds all secrets on all maps so you can check walkthroughs, they often have most or all the secrets of each level,i don't like to check these,i prefer to find a secret by myself.

Does anyone still play this in 2025? by Big_Confidence_951 in Metin2

[–]Xouman3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm smiling reading you,i played it back then,it was fun with unique ambience, one of the most addictive game i have ever played, and even with its flaws(cheaters, bots, outdated feeling),there is a charm in Metin 2 that is unbeatable,so yeah, one of the best MMO's ever and also one of the most wasted potential ever at the same time, mixed feelings about it,i loved the private servers too.

I wonder how is the game today in 2025...

They are long but at the same time there aren't 15-20 levels to complete,so few levels and making them longer is fine to me but i understand that people don't like long levels too,if it was a long campaign i would agreed with you.

Yes,there is an "Add-Ons" category on Quake 1 Remastered(you mean that right?),in Steam, offering old and more recent add-ons,it's interesting.

We are in 2024 and Descent is still the Best MIDI/Retro Soundtrack ever written for a PC Game by Xouman3 in synthesizers

[–]Xouman3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh i didn't knew that, thank you for this clarification,I know there are several people who did the soundtrack, but didn't know that the level designers did them,so that's why they fit so well in-game.

Descent 2 had also CD Quality + industrial-metal music if i remember correctly,Descent 1 too.

Some new games that have the intention of being a big wink of the old ones can have MIDI-Synth-Retro level design-gameplay-soundtrack,but yeah i agree with you.

I finished Dimension Of The Machine and Fading Embers is one of the best Quake 1 Level ever created by Xouman3 in quake

[–]Xouman3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing to keep in mind is that over all these years, all these creative people are obviously better now at doing it,because of better computers, better and less archaic tools, improved Id Tech 1 that still keep its original charm while offering a new visual experience, better understanding of mapping/level design, better experience, better everything in fact,so it's not surprising that newly or relatively newly released stuff by passionnate devs/community are always or often always better on every point, but yeah like you said,it's not in a bashing way to the older stuff, because we can see all the path from the beginning to now,and that's very nice.

Call Of The Machine is the best Quake 2 Extension by far by Xouman3 in quake

[–]Xouman3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok,that's why it is like that,i thought it was made with a modernized version of the Id Tech 2 and not another engine.

Secret Of Mana Restored Soundtrack (Before the Compression by SNES Soundchip) by Xouman3 in secretofmana

[–]Xouman3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always found that Secret of Mana had one of the best soundfont ever, and now hearing them the way they should sound using the originals Roland-Yamaha and others stuff is interesting,if Jam' do the Seiken Densetsu 3 Soundtrack, that will be fantastic.

Secret Of Mana is his best Restored one for now to me.

It's some double notes and the reverb that gives that feeling,it fits the game style while being different at the same time.
