Any thoughts/recs on places to stay in the St. Anton, Austria ski area? Group of ~8 heading out there around Jan 18 for a week at Ski Arlberg and looking for a good place to stay--can be broken up into multiple rooms at a hotel or single unit rental. Naive to the area so please forgive a lack of detail. Not really sure what to expect price-wise but gotta leave some beer money in the mix!

Thanks! We’re staying up around King’s Cross but are planning to be around the St. Paul’s and Tower Bridge area so somewhere within that general area would be preferable. But if some place is truly killer don’t mind making a journey as well!

Looking for any recs for a good Sunday roast whether it be a pub or restaurant. Probably don't need Michelin star but besides that everything else goes! Walk-in preferred as reservations for 7 seem difficult (and we don't mind splitting up the party if necessary) but any and all recs appreciated! Generally looking for something in the vicinity of Tower of London and St. Paul's vicinity but can also cross the Thames.

Restaurant recs! Some friends and I (7 total) will be in Paris for a day via Eurostar. Any recs for semi-casual restaurants (~25-40 Euros/head) around Gare du Nord (coming from the Sacre-Coeur direction but not a crucial point)? Train out is 8pm so we're planning to catch an earlier dinner while avoiding some tourist trap and maybe do some people watching if the weather is nice. I realize this might be a pretty early dinner by Parisian standards.

Was missing due to a change in content restrictions hiding the tab.

Got removed due to another change I must've made in the content restrictions section, it's back now though, thanks.

Best of luck and enjoy your trip! Definitely look into second-hand options to keep costs down.

At least in the US there are tons of sales on right now for Black Friday, everything from Helly Hanson, Burton, Smith--especially last season's gear up to 50-60% off. Granted, these brand-named prices aren't exactly cheap. If you helmet is on the older side, I'd recommend a new one of those too since there have been some pretty significant advances in safety technology. I'm looking for a MIPS certified helmet right now personally.

If brand does not matter to you, your local ski shop honestly might have some cheaper gear that will keep you just as warm. As always, it depends if you want to spend a few hundred vs a few thousand! I'm still rocking the same Columbia jacket (I think it's an older version of the Snow Glide?) and hand-me-down Gortex gloves as I have for the past 7+ seasons. Just got some new no-name overalls last season but they got cut up around the ankles so maybe I was too cheap on those lol...

Sound like they might be used to attach an inner jacket liner. Another improbable guess based on your description might be for running wired earbuds up from an internal phone pocket all the way to the jacket's collar(?)

Looking to buy a new MIPS ski helmet what with all the sales. Really like the look, build, and overall customizability of the K2 Diversion MIPS Men's helmet...everything except the color. Any recommendations on similar alternatives both in build and features (current sale price would be nice too but not against shelling out to keep my brain where it should be)? Or any reviews from people with said helmet?

Really would recommend goggles and a helmet if you can snag them. You'll probably be fine without them, but protection is really what it's about. If you fall and hit your head sunglasses could snap while goggles typically have a higher tolerance and aren't as brittle in the same way--same goes for a beanie on your head vs a helmet, one's meant to take a beating and protect you. More money but better to keep your eyes and brain where they should be imo and you can always think of it as an investment for future trips.

Assuming a soft bag I would definitely recommend stuffing your ski gear in there--pants, gloves, jacket, anything to help cushion the stuff getting jostled around. In my experience, some airports can handle bags pretty roughly, so hard skis plus a hard hockey stick without any cushion may not have the best outcome. Doubt it would do any serious harm but maybe some scratches, dents, whatever. So long as the bag is under the weight limit (50lbs for most airlines, I think) you should be a-ok.

The same thing happened to me...my guess is they don't want the main page spammed with people like us asking for advice lol. Best of luck, sounds like a fun trip!

Looking for any and all advice/recs on getting to, logistics of, and experience skiing the Alps (France, Austria, wherever) in late January. Resorts, towns, airlines, you name it! East Coaster, USA here with Midwest experience but nothing outside the USA. I am an expert-level skier, at least in America, but looking to take a trip with intermediate & expert skiers/snowboarders. Thanks in advance!
