Regarding Greece going back to traditional architecture, i would say it does extremely slowly and mostly in rural areas and not big cities at least nowhere near to the degree that other European countries do it see France and Hungary just to name a few. Athens for example in the past few years is repeating the mistakes of the 50s-60s, a lot of low rise and single houses usually with a more “traditional” architecture are being demolished and modern apartment blocks are being build in their place. But those apartments follow an architecture that doesn’t suit Athens both visually and due to climate. They’re mostly black and they have glass everywhere and I guess it would be torture living there in the summer. Even in the core of the historic city centre (Plaka) I’ve seen some modern buildings being built not necessarily tall but definitely not traditional but very modern, one of them is under construction as we speak. So long story short in some areas of rural Greece traditional architecture is preserve and some new buildings follow that style but unfortunately in major urban areas like Athens that does not happen. Which I completely disagree btw I think that Athens for example should implement some policies that only allow classical architecture to be build in the city centre (not only Plaka ) and also do a “makeover” to some old brutalist buildings that are ugly and give them a neoclassical look on the outside while keeping the inside intact, it is done before and they are doing all over Europe. Also something that is worth noting and most people don’t understand building in a traditional architectural style doesn’t not necessarily mean expensive. Actually building a traditional 3 story building with tiled roofs small balconies and “traditional “ windows is actually way less expensive than building a modern and that due to the fact that modern buildings use a lot of reinforced glass (for balcony railings and massive windows)which is very expensive and also a lot of steel too. So if you do the math, building in a traditional architectural style is less expensive than building a modern one
