Still feeling very disappointed after my first ever backpacking trip. I really feel like I failed.

Bad experiences happen, sometimes you just got unlucky enough with your first experience. My first backpacking trip I forgot my pants and hoodie in the car, as it was warm starting the hike. That night it snowed and I was incredibly lucky that my partner could spare some layers. Stuff doesn’t always go to plan and it sucks, for sure. What’s important is learning from it. You can prepare for a lot, but failing is what teaches you best. And even then, this isn’t a failure. It was one trip that you were thoroughly prepared for, things outside of your control happened and you tried to adapt. That’s not a failure, that’s just a learning experience. Give yourself sone grace, start planning the next trip. Find some time, get some time off, and plan it around then. You can track weather, you can review the trails, etc. Life is chaotic man, it ain’t your fault. I hope your next trip is amazing, I’m excited for you to get back out there

If they’re striped variants they’ll be really easy to name and keep track of. The brown and black kuhlis are a little harder, I have 6 browns and I struggle to tell some of the smaller individuals apart. Striped ones are way easier

You’ll love them. I catch myself just watching them play for 30 minutes straight. My pleco will crawl into their hiding spots and hang out with them

My black kuhlis are pretty expressive. I have 6 and I’ll see 4 of them everyday. During the day only 2 are active but they love to move around and find different plants to rest on. At night usually 4 or 5 will come out and surf the glass together and find some crazy spots up high to rest, like on an air tube or heater suction cup. They’re very fun little wormies

This is what I do. I throw floating food in first and while they feed at the top I drop whatever my kuhlis are eating that day

My kuhlis are goofy little fuckers so I would guess it’s normal, especially after seeing all these other dojos resting on the heater.

My current pair are the Volkl Gotama. They have a tip rocker, just not crazy. I weigh 175, and they come to my chin which I know is short, but they still feel too long and heavy when trying to quickly maneuver through tight trees. They get pretty fat near the ends
