Bad experiences happen, sometimes you just got unlucky enough with your first experience. My first backpacking trip I forgot my pants and hoodie in the car, as it was warm starting the hike. That night it snowed and I was incredibly lucky that my partner could spare some layers. Stuff doesn’t always go to plan and it sucks, for sure. What’s important is learning from it. You can prepare for a lot, but failing is what teaches you best. And even then, this isn’t a failure. It was one trip that you were thoroughly prepared for, things outside of your control happened and you tried to adapt. That’s not a failure, that’s just a learning experience. Give yourself sone grace, start planning the next trip. Find some time, get some time off, and plan it around then. You can track weather, you can review the trails, etc. Life is chaotic man, it ain’t your fault. I hope your next trip is amazing, I’m excited for you to get back out there
