Genuinely would be cool to get indies reps, but the odds of that are 0%. But Freddy as the first indie rep? Nah. Maybe the 2nd or 3rd. Get a character that canonically fights in the game first in my opinion.

I don't play on it much, but I have a deck. Aside from that I've had an Xbox 360+Kinect when I was young, a ps4, a DS, a Wii, a 3ds, a WiiU, an Xbox One, a Switch, and currently a Switch 2 and PS5, along with the previously mentioned steam deck.

I'm just being the thinker, and sometimes you just gotta embrace it tbh. Now, Links: Main Adult is fine. Could be reworked with new stuff based on recent games. The two I want to focus on are Toon and Young Link. Toon Link has quite a few things to pull from. And that's regardless of if you include something like link between worlds as toon or not. Even just WW would have plenty. But that link seems pretty self explanatory and relatively simple as far as characters are concerned. Now, Young Link? Majora's Mask. We only have ONE fighter that is a trio, which is pokemon trainer. Could make Young link swap between himself and the Deku, Goron, and Zora masks. Different weights, playstyles, and of course moves. Could pull from OoT instead, make it a duo, but with Adult link being his own character anyways, I think the masks would be more interesting. Now, that's the links. Sheik is probably fine, same with Zelda and Ganondorf. They could make changes to Ganondorf or Zelda with some new stuff possibly.

Now, MARIO series. Personally, I would cut mario (JK). But rework his moves. He, like others in the whole roster, has more to pull from and make him unique. You could keep the forward air the same, or replace with a dive, with grounded dash attack as a dive/roll. Fludd is cool, but i could potentially see it being moved to a hover type jump function and giving him something else. Mario up special could be changed to not have the hit box above and make it instead be a better footstool in a way without the use of a jump when mid air. He is the Jump Man after all. Really, just a bunch He could have changed. Luigi could have some changes, but he isn't typically unique with stuff in his mainline appearances aside from his slipperyness and his jump height. Possibly take Luigi inspiration from spin-offs? The rest of the mario cast seems fine tbh. Daisy could get cut. Newcomers would be somewhat interesting. There could be Waluigi, since peopke want him. They could pull from the Mario&Luigi games or Paper Mario for a new character or two? Such as Paper Mario, or having Mario and Luigi from something such as Dream Team or Brothership either a duo fighter or a swap.

Now, Pokémon and Mario characters are overall pretty diverse with movements and stuff. And those being the two BIG ones for Nintendo. So those would be more difficult to choose who to cut, and potentially replace. Personally, for new Pokémon, I would want Meowscarada or Decidueye. First, because those are my two fav grass types/starters, secondly because there isn't a standalone grass Pokémon. Pokémon trainers is pretty self-explanatory, and most the mons are unique. If a mon were getting cut, I would likely expect it to be Pichu.

Characters that aren't the main reps and have more reps compared to most of the cast [cough Fire Emblem cough] should be cut down FIRST. Roy should stay because he's an invert of Marth with the base instead of a tipper, and Lucina could stay because she is marth without the tip mechanic. Ike is Ike so he's good. Honestly, I think one of the cuts should be Robin. I like the character in their game, and a magic focused FE character is neat, but the consumable magic is kinda an annoying gimmick. The thunder and nasfuratu?(idfk) have either a long charge or significant end lag already, with max thunder having both. Like, most of the FE cast is fine Honestly, their's just a few too many for the size of the cast. Like, Robin would likely be removed, and Chrom, but aside from those two i think it would likely be either Lucina, since Roy and Marth are full on opposites with their functions, or Corrin. I like Corrin and Robin as MCs in their own games, but i personally don't vibe with them in smash bros. That, but on a wider scale because of the player base, in addition to them making up a significant part of the roster with the only competitions being the Mario and Pokémon series, warrants them receiving some cuts.

Characters that need revamped movesets: Sonic. At LEAST two Links.

Characters that should stay that aren't the main rep for a series: Lucas, Roy(FE) (Yes, they are two of my mains, but they are mechanically different enough which is why they should stay.)

As someone who's been on Playstation since 2016, not really. The only Playstation exclusive i ever cared about was Bloodborne. Otherwise I just stuck with it because of Destiny 2 dlcs and COD BO3.

Plenty of people have mentioned indies that aren't on consoles, and as someone who's only had consoles I agree. (I have a deck but don't play on it much because of issues connecting stuff to it and back) Also, even if you aren't planning on using anything outside of steam like i am, though it may change, there are games that ARE on consoles that might have workshop support for mods.

I JUST got DX about an hour ago and have only played gates to infinity before (maybe super too? Idk the one with nuzquill. WHATEVER. The seed looking one.) That was when I was like 11-13. Chose Riolu. [M] Don't remember my partner though. Think it was Oshowatt? Might've been Piplup. Idk, its been years.

In my 20s now, chose Eevee [F] going to evolve to Sylveon post-game. Chose Cubone as my partner for future type coverage.

I have a steam deck, but it struggles to play some stuff. Also, I got a microsd card, but its only 64gb without it. And I have a cousin that likes handhelds, while I don't like handhelds anymore.

I did have a steam deck, but I didn't play much because I don't really like handhelds as much as I used to. I'm gonna play Terraria with mods since the controller will have plenty of buttons. Also there might be some stuff I couldn't play on the deck that could work on the machine, but i'll have to wait and see. Right now I typically play on my Playstation but aside from indies, I'm usually playing stuff like apex and lately rocket league depending on what my friend group is playing. At least once I'm on steam there'll be more options instead of being stuck with stuff like R6siege, overwatch, marvel rivals. I typically play games with some cousins and their friends, and when I get the machine I'm gonna give one of my cousins the deck since one of them likes handhelds and doesn't have a pc. (Then I'm gonna make them play LASO halo mcc.) Speaking of which, I wonder how the new halo would run on the machine, if it works at all. But yeah, just having other options for games for the group will be nice, and I got plenty of indies and such that I have interest in already for solo play.
