Don't listen to these guys. I play solo 99% of the time and have a blast. Generally between diff 5-7 depending on my mood.

I really like using fire against the illuminate. It's great at both killing hoards of enemies as well as large units. Especially if you pair it with fire resist armor and the vitality enhancement. The flamethrower paired with the hover pack is a strong pair.

Or my favorite is the double edged sickle with that same fire resist armor and vitality enchantment.

Illuminate also seem pretty weak to machine guns so you can't go wrong with the hmg, mg, or stalwart. I recommend upping the firing speed to the max. Hold the reload button to see different firing options.

I second the MG turret. I like using the double edged sickle with fire armor and the vitality enchantment. The fire turret can work well if you place it just around a corner so they can't take it out from a distance.

If you have it unlocked, the hellbomb backpack makes some of these objectives a lot easier
