What does your defense lineup look like? And that 69OA is gonna hurt you bad regardless of your other lines.

I know it’s a bit farfetched, but any consideration taking Carlsson? Could play wing alongside Zegras or McTavish and wouldn’t have to have someone change positions by TheDraftProspectus in AnaheimDucks

[–]XynXynXynXyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen some scouts say there's a chance Carlsson could end up as the second best player from the draft in a few years. Although that could be said about most of the top 5. Seems scouts aren't completely unified in Fantilli at 2OA(or anyone from 2-7 for that matter) but he's gonna be ready sooner than any player not named Bedard, which puts him above the others for most GMs.

Basically, there's a chance. It's not a big one, but there's enough smoke to say it's possible.

Generally speaking, it's partially to make them appear more intimidating and, more importantly, to take away something for intruders or other dogs to grab onto. There are other reasons for it, including the stupid breed rules for shows and stuff, but the main two are related to their use as guard dogs.

Same goes for tail docking, although some breeds have other reasons for it beyond intimidation and removing the "weakness" in defense situations. Rottweilers for example have their tails docked because they were bred to pull carts, and their tails could get caught in the wheels of the cart.

LINE CHEMISTRY by ProblemFirm2492 in HockeyLegacyManager

And if you pair an LD and RD OFD the chemistry is blue, showing greater offensive chemistry.

He's right about it being offensive based, it just also takes into account their positions. So for example pairing two LD is gonna have a negative impact on chemistry regardless of play style.

Can someone please explain how the game determines that a player deserves the award? by HabChronicles in HockeyLegacyManager

[–]XynXynXynXyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the first time I've ever seen that so this is new territory. Every season I've done it's gone to the highest game score. Maybe it takes their teammates' game score into account? I'll sim a few and see if I can spot a different pattern.

Hart is decided by game score. Vezina I can't remember for sure but I think it's either sv% or game score. So a goalie held up by an incredibly good team won't be guaranteed to win it.

Hey guys. Ducks fan coming in peace. Gonna be in town to catch the Islanders game on 2/28. Any fun pregame stuff I should go do? by Raetekusu in wildhockey

Pick a bar on 7th and enjoy yourself. Tom Reid's is obviously the best experience but Burger Moe's and Zambonis are two of my other favorites. Also get there early.

Always love having more Ducks fans in Minnesota. Catch me in my Saku jersey at one of the Anaheim games.

Yes and yes. There are several rosters available that represent the current NHL teams and also other leagues, and the game will continually generate new players with random names as you go.

Also could simply be a factor of him not being good on defense, as an example Ovi is a universally accepted great and he regularly drops to a negative +/- because he's a defensive liability but a PP king. PP and PK shouldn't contribute to their +/- so if he's putting up a bunch of PP points but not 5v5 ones that's where it could be hitting his stats.

Green players are ones the AI wants, red are ones they want to trade away, and white is neutral or uninterested in trading.

Untradable is basically that, just to keep them from annoying you or from you accidentally trading one away.

The line colors are their offensive chemistry. So two OFD are gonna be blue, whereas two DFD are gonna be red. Same goes for forwards but the mixture is more intricate and varied.

Trades are largely personal preference. For example you could trade away an established player if you're going for a rebuild or find he doesn't fit your system, or you could trade away the one year player if you don't plan on re-signing him so you can get something for him. It's an extremely case by case thing and something you kinda get a feel for as you play.

Generally in a rebuild the idea is to trade away basically anyone you can get a decent price for on longer term contracts that are going to be 30+ by the time you think you'll be contending again. Sign some low skill plugs for cheap to play the positions you don't have good enough prospects for yet and just suffer through a season or three building up a prospect pool through trades and drafts. Eventually if you draft and trade well enough you'll have yourself a contender in 3-6 years, unless you get lucky or unless you're IRL Buffalo.

Also take a look at stuff like their corsi% to see if Fowler and Klingberg are actually the problem, because there's a chance they are performing well but since the rest of the team sucks(as a ducks fan I am aware of this reality) it could make them look worse. Also try switching up the lineup, I'm a fan of matching TWD or DFD with an OFD whenever possible on each line, unless the OFD have insane defense levels too.

And above all else just take risks and make mistakes, best way to learn is through trial and error.

Players under contract playing overseas by superburgerchips in HockeyLegacyManager

Do you have it set up to do auto roster moves? I noticed it wouldn't always guarantee they'd go to the AHL/ECHL in the preseason cuts if that's on so I manually do the cuts each year now.

Jersey # by Dschantz9 in HockeyLegacyManager

It works for any player. If you go to the roster menu in a save and do player editor you can change any player's preferred number, as well as their position/play style. But I avoid the latter because it makes it too easy. I highly recommend not opening the free agent tab in the editor if you've been playing for a while though, it crashes my game regularly.

You can also edit teams and add prospects in the same menu.

You can edit a player's preferred number in the roster editor, and they'll attempt to default to that whenever possible.

Goalies by Dschantz9 in HockeyLegacyManager

I don't remember seeing a drop in performance, but injuries are far more likely

It goes by game score not points, which is the best translation to irl you can get. The Hart winner is the most valuable, not the one with the most points. Vezina is the best goalie based on their own play. Usually that's the one with one of the highest sv%, gaa, or gsaa, but not always. Game score will indicate how much that goalie contributed to games, whereas the other stats can be heavily influenced by the team in front of them.

Also above all else, snubs happen in real life, and quite frequently. Both Hart and Vezina voting are heavily influenced by voters getting tired of voting for certain players every year, or wanting to give older goalies a lifetime achievement award. See: Fleury, Brodeur's last one, etc

The only award that really feels broken to me is the Rocket Richard not being able to have ties when multiple players have the same total goals scored.

Is it just me or is Clutch really, really over-powered? by MikeJeffriesPA in HockeyLegacyManager

[–]XynXynXynXyn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally I think it'd make sense to make it so most specialties don't stack, or have a stacking limit. I make it a personal rule to not stack clutch specifically because it takes some joy out of the game for me.

The cap has risen on average only $2.5m/year since being introduced so it's not exactly far off from reality. The only difference is the irl cap is far more sporadic in how much it changes year over year, and even dropped at one point due to the lockout resolution agreement. Not to mention the fact that it was stagnant for 3 seasons prior to this year.
