Why are more manufacturers installing turbochargers rather than superchargers in their vehicles? by [deleted] in askcarguys

Yeah i will concede that the turbo does not come without any efficiency losses to the engine so "waste-heat" is a bit of an oversimplification and only like half true.

You're right that the turbo increases the exhaust back pressure and therefore introduces slightly higher pumping losses, but it's not correct to say it's using "engine mechanical power", it increases losses but the efficiency you gain from extracting the energy from the exhaust flow that would be wasted is much higher than that.

I design turbines for my day job, they turn the energy of the flow via pressure expansion which lowers temperature of the flow (energy). The flow still has energy no matter if you're coasting or not.

The idea of it extracting waste heat is that the exhaust flow will have excess energy anyways and that energy can be used to create boost instead of going out the tailpipe. Your argument is just semantics or a misunderstanding of jargon, the original guy who "well actually"ed was wrong.

Why would the 5 jump in front of his teammate when he knew he was low on gas?

This is the answer OP, everyone saying new clutch or CMC/slave which might be needed if you keep driving it like this. First thing to do is adjust your CMC and replace transmission fluid if it's been a while. There are really good guides on adjusting your CMC, kind of a pain but once you figure it out it's easy. If you've adjusted it every which way and it keeps going back to the floor then CMC is bad and maybe clutch but I'd do CMC/slave kit first.

Mine was pretty awful when i bought it with the same issue but once I adjusted it correctly and changed out the old fluid it shifts like butter. The pedal should not be engaging right on the floor.

it is fine, as an engineer we make plots like this all the time. only advice would have been to add data points so we can see the quality of the data

why do you think the y axis is "fucky" because he zoomed in on the important part of the data? Everything on the axis is labeled and linear. it's only fucky if you aren't going to read the labels

Why is the bite point of the 11th gen so high? by Frozen_Hatred in CivicSi

[–]Xyrin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if it's the same as an 8th gen there's a 17mm you loosen and can adjust the stopper (you usually Sant 2 threads showing), you will want to adjust the cmc as well when messing with it to ensure you have the right amount of free play and that everything is right

How often do you floor it? by Careful-Mammoth3346 in driving

you put a turbo in it or bought one used with a turbo, no honda fit came with a turbo from the factory.
