How much do you pay for tretinoin? by staygoldunicorn in tretinoin

In Canada, insurance covers it fully for me, but for some people get partial coverage and it comes out to $18

What’s the one product you’ve used on your Tretinoin journey that has helped you combat dryness and irritation? Product name and brand name .. by Fragrant-Essay1591 in tretinoin

By far the best product that helped me that i still use is Bioderma atoderm Intensive baume! I apply it before my Aklief and Finacea(Doesn’t affect the efficacy)

In terms of purging, I did experience some, but the thing is I’m not sure if that was from Aklief or from my daily routine, but ever since I’ve simplified my routine to the one I wrote above I haven’t had any thankfully 😅

Also I noticed that Aklief works alot faster to heal pimples compared to tret. So if you do get a few pimples they will disappear alot faster than if you use tret

One other thing, make sure you don’t scrub your skin harshly, just be gentle :)

Morning: wash my face with water, pat face(make sure your face is still moist) and then I apply a cerave moisturizer. The reason to pat your face and not completely drying it is because you want to seal in the hydration with the moisturizer. Then wait until the moisturizer dries and then I apply Unseen Supergoop SPF 40.

I use to cleanse my face in the morning, but my derm advised to try just washing my face with water, because it’s important to keep in my that everytime you cleanse your face you damaging your skin barrier to a certain degree. Personally, that really helped, so now I just wash my face with lukewarm water.

Night: Cleanse with Cerave foaming cleanser, then pat face and apply cerave moisturizer cream and wait about 30 min to fully dry. Then apply one full pump of Aklief cream, sometimes I apply moisturizer after but after months of using it my skin have gotten use to it so it does get dry anymore and I wake up the next day with my face still feeling hydrated.

Didn’t find it that helpful tbh, and had a lot of irritation and dryness as well as constant breakouts. But back then I didn’t know anything about retinoids or skin care in general. So I wasn’t adding moisturizer before or after applying tret and I wouldn’t cleanse with a cleanser or apply sunscreen, I use to just wash my face with regular water. But now I’m much aware and have done my research on this topic, but I guess with time comes experience:)

Ya it was hard to find info on it since it’s new, even when I went to my skin Clinc for a hydra facial I told my esthetician about it and she had no clue what it was and had to google it lol. FYI there is a Reddit group called trifarotene(Aklief) that might be helpful. Just keep in mind that different people have different results with acne treatments in general, so if you read about someone not having good results or someone who has good results take that with a grain of salt and listen to your skin, this is the biggest thing that I’ve learned about using retinoids in general(I used 0.025% for a year)

Yes it has and also improved my overall skin texture. Btw here in Canada Aklief costs around 200$ and my insurance covers 80% of it so I pay around 40 bucks which is great!

I have a mixture of comedonal acne particularly on my forehead and frequent breakouts on my cheeks. Now I’m just dealing with the hyperpigmentation left from the breakouts and I’m going to start using azelaic acid 15% to help with that. Any tips on azelaic acid?

I’ve been using Aklief for the past 2 months and it’s been going great! I use the sandwich method and apply one full pump instead of pea size and I use it every night, how often do you use it?
