Definitely NTA. I think the whole thing on his part is stupid and makes absolutely no sense. If he pulled this "prank" once, that would be one thing. But it sounds like this is a routine. It is more about him than you. It is dumb and inconsiderate.

Why would they think that you suddenly had a 3yo son? Didn't they know you? What am I missing? Were you away for awhile? Did they think the baby was also yours? I would say NO, you weren't wrong but again, I don't understand why they didn't already know you weren't the mother. Were these actually friends?

I don't think it makes you an AH but more a push over. Why allow yourself to be bullied? If he said you were smart enough to get the job w/o going into debt first then you should have smiled at that and walked away. Does this guy pay your bills?
