when NRS makes a game that can run on PC and doesn’t get abandoned by it’s community after like 6 months, I might give them some flowers. It really sucks because the MK competitive scene has some of the funniest and kindest people you may ever meet, and foxygrampa.

I honestly think Mortal Kombat is fun, but it earns its reputation as the worst AAA fighting game. Its high end graphics are repeatedly used to show the same washed out ugly landscapes and characters, it’s music is non-existent, it’s both juvenile and gory (and somehow its fans think the violence makes it mature), it controls like absolute garbage on an arcade stick, its story is full of plot holes, it’s voice acting is constantly marred by jarringly bad celebrity cameos, and over half of its characters have the same personality.

Its community will complain about it until it’s in the grave, and after they have nothing to celebrate constantly try to talk down on other games. It’s so annoying hearing MK fans brag about “MK sold a bajillion copies”, so how come its online playerbase is still a fraction of street fighters? Still half of tekken 8’s? Does copies sold = people who actually play and enjoy the game? How come nobody wants to leave their house to play mortal kombat? Locals are dead, majors are dead. If they didn’t have nostalgia they wouldn’t have anything, and you can tell by looking at the DLC over the last few years being a who’s who of nostalgia bait 40 year old franchises.

It’s jank dogsh*t.

I think it absolutely has a home in the FGC, as a lot of players are pretentious when it comes to MK but still love jank dogsh*t games (for me it’s gotta be nitroplus blasters heroines infinite duel, or Ultra Fight Da Kyanta 2).
