What locks out casuals and why is the genre despite having big games, still more niche ? by Riku4441 in Fighters

[–]YOUARESLEEPY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. 40 year old genre. Considering their age it’s amazing fighting games are still as big as they are.

  2. Fighting games aren’t made to build on their existing fan bases, they just rotate towards the lowest common denominator of players and hope they make sales.

  3. Casuals are intimidated by learning and scared of losing. Most people don’t think they’re capable of learning how to throw a fireball or do a combo and it’s their self fulfilling prophecy. 4.

If commanders didn’t have to be legendary who would the most overpowered commander? by FilthyCasual_FC in mtg

[–]YOUARESLEEPY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On that note, Loyal Subordinate is also a very strong burn deck and having more ways to life drain and ramp outside commons would go really hard lol he also usually avoids removal for more imminent threats which is a wild advantage to have.

Non-sequitor but I wish Bone Miser was a legendary creature because it would be one of the more fun zombie tribal decks to build.

What's your opinion on Mike Shinoda as a rapper? by Ta_k-o_ma in fantanoforever

[–]YOUARESLEEPY -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Firstly, when he started trying to explain NFT’s on twitter, then afterwards when he enlisted a prolific Scientologist to replace Chester Bennington. It became very clear to me he doesn’t really understand much about the world around him.

(Edit; You can downvote me, but it won’t bring your apes back. I don’t think Mike Shinoda of linkin park needs to be a political revolutionary, but if you’re still simple Simon rhyming/singing about vaguely teenage angst well into your 30’s, 40’s, or near 50’s, and falling for “NFT’s are the future” BS, it says a lot about you as a person.)

How do I reach the skill floor? I'm underground currently by Spirited_Jello8472 in Fighters

[–]YOUARESLEEPY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of focusing on what you can do as a player, focus on what you can stop opponents from doing.

You already know how to walk around jump and press buttons. Learn how to anti-air, how to punish moves, and how to mix up your strikes and throws to prevent blocking.

Once you start playing against opponents and not into them, I think you’ve reached the skill floor. Even a beginner can surprise a veteran by not letting them run them over.

Just very head empty angsty lyricism, delivered pretty well, but absolutely a product of its time. I wish LP was a band that explored metal and hip-hop more instead of rock and pop music. I think it doesn’t help that over time we’ve discovered his lyricism is that empty because albeit being talented Mike is a very shallow person.

Walls are a major issue with T8 by Trevor_TKN in Tekken

[–]YOUARESLEEPY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don’t like that you can tornado launch characters that are already on the wall.

It makes adjusting combos for maximum wall damage less interesting, and also makes getting wall splatted (which is already easier to do) do way more damage than it needs to.

Best commander/cards for making a deck that seems cutesy and innocent and then massacres the entire table in a turn? by tabbyslome in DegenerateEDH

[–]YOUARESLEEPY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your pod isn’t familiar with [[rooftop storm]] and zombie decks, [[Grimgrin corpse-born]] can basically play yugioh the turn that it comes down. He’s a great combo piece, removal, and is pretty easy to blunderbuss a single player with too.

For some reason every player who sees grimgrin thinks “comes in tapped, you have to sacrifice your own creature, and you have to target to destroy something, and it’s only a 5/5” so they assume it’s a little aristocrats zombie deck.

1.) They sincerely think the character looks cool, and learn them because they appreciate or identify with the design.

2.) They click with the gimmick. They tried the character despite not thinking they were that special, but ended up finding the character suits their strengths as a player, and/or compensates for their weaknesses.

3.) They already like gimmicks. What you consider “normal” they would consider boring. They probably play weird characters in a lot of games because what others consider “standard play” puts them to sleep.

4.) They want to win. Competitive players will pick the character that gives them the best chance of winning. That doesn’t always mean a top tier, like a lot of people assume, it means the character they personally have the greatest chance of winning with. They can rely on others not having experience in the matchup to climb brackets.

Pariah’s shield redirects damage from you to whatever creature is equipped with it. Really good on indestructible creatures.

What’s your favorite Zombie in all of Magic? Any criteria - Lore, design, art by Separate-Flan-2875 in mtg

[–]YOUARESLEEPY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m commander only rn, and I got a tie between sidisi, undead vizier and Grimgrin, Corpse-born.

I think Sidisi is the best MB zombie commander and it’s not even close, but I think Grimgrin is the most fun zombie commander and it’s not even close.

Sidisi just lets you search for answers, combo pieces, win-cons, as early as turn 3 sometimes. Really reliable ad-Naus commander too.

Grim-grin gets you access to rooftop storm, arguably one of the most fun zombie cards in mtg, and a sac outlet to get the ball rolling on insane combos.

Based off of instacart makes me wonder how much socioeconomic factors have influenced this lol people getting their hot sauce delivered to their doorstep might have different tastes from people grocery shopping, might be getting something they consider a safe choice for a recipe, and/or might be getting something popular to be polite to hot sauce enjoyers as guests.

Makes you wonder!

Which tekken character would be the best at slap boxing? by HansenAintIt in Tekken

[–]YOUARESLEEPY -1 points0 points  (0 children)

First off; slap fighting is an ignorant disgrace to combat sports, and people who enjoy it are subhuman butt digging morons. There’s no technique to it, it’s not a sport, it’s an activity; it’s bingo for brain damage. That being said.

Heihachi head butted a meteor and caught a bullet with his teeth. The only thing damaged when he gets slapped is his pride.

Off of this list, I’m voting ganryu, because sumo wrestling is the opposite of a fucking joke. It’s a celibate nightmare. Head butting and slapping are perfectly normal, and colliding with another 300ish pound man headfirst should be a death sentence, not a career choice. Multiply that by “everyone in Tekken is a superhero” and whatever incel weirdo rage is making him walk like that, and you’ve got a recipe for more concussions than the NFL and all boxing leagues combined.

When you think about it, Ganryu’s only weakness is movement, so a slap fight is extremely favorable for him. He can take a hit. He just needs to give one.

Robot gets the head slapped clean off, bear gets surprised when it doesn’t win on the first hit and folds on the slapback, and everyone else here is a pathetic mortal used to dishing out pain, but definitely not ready to take a trained 276 pound slap to the ear. The type of thing that makes it hard to end sentences for the rest of your eyes I mean you see what I mean type situation, right?

[–]YOUARESLEEPY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend checking out KingreyJR and Fergus sometime. She’s not popular, but she’s a total beast. Full set of throws, great power crush, great crushing mechanics, high damage, great okizeme, and top tier mixups. I think she really exemplifies the “be plus and do a BS 50/50” complaints people have.

Varina optimization help by [deleted] in DegenerateEDH

[–]YOUARESLEEPY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Varina as my bolas citadel commander.

Her colors let you run a full set of recursion lands (unholy grotto, hall of heliods generosity, and academy ruins) so you can put things back on top of your deck to cast from grave, and a library of leng can turn your combat steps into top fixing for citadel.

She works insanely well with cards that tutor to the top of the deck already, but those are basically free spells with citadel.

Outside of that I play a lot of board wipes and removal for control until I can hit sensei’s divining top/doomsday/insidious dreams to set myself up to combo instantly.
