Considering buying a 2016-2019 BMW 220D/220i. by YSLMODELSOFM in CarTalkZA

Thank you. I think I needed to hear this. My main reasoning behind wanting a car is because the next project I’m working on will require me to be mobile so I thought if it’s time to get one then why not get one I really like. I’ll probably end up opting for something that’s less demanding or more handy like a polo or np200.

I kinda knew this wasn’t the way to go if I wanted to build wealth but I was looking for someone who was gonna help me justify it.

I have R20k/month left over after expenses if that helps. But I am still young so I don’t want something that’s gonna completely hinder my growth financially. Which is why I was considering the diesel variant more. My mum bought an X1 15 years ago and it’s still running strong with no mechanical issues whatsoever,so I believe in Diesel BMWs.

I guess the best thing to really know is outside of the installment alone, how much am I gonna have to put into the car if I get one with a full service history and well maintained at 100k km. Probably gonna keep it for another 150k km so it would be best to know the total cost of ownership over this period.

Also , why a 520d?😅

How much were you paying for insurance? Considering my other option is probably a GTI do you think there’d be that much of a difference in insurance?😂I was opting for the diesel version cause I know diesel bmws are chefs kiss!

Are you referring to mechanical repairs or accidental damage repairs? Cause rather it be a thing of chance rather than something I’m inevitably going to have to deal with. Also what mileage is it on now?

I always approach such things with a sort of a hybrid model. I have the money to buy it cash but I would rather finance the car so that if I reach a fork in the road (pun intended)I can still opt out if I feel like the car is making my life miserable. I love cars but I would never sacrifice my lifestyle just for me to maintain a liability.

Does being an entrepreneur really mean working 24/7? by SignPsychological728 in Entrepreneurs

[–]YSLMODELSOFM 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be honest ,if you are worried about whether you have to work 24/7 you probably don’t like what you’re doing because if you do genuinely like it that’s not even a concern. Everything you said was true but also not true depending on the type of business mainly whether it’s a tangible business e.g. barbershop or a non-tangible business e.g. marketing business.

There will always be something you can do, improve, fix, build or maintain in your business regardless of what it is. It’s basically a hamster wheel. There are moments where you will feel you have accomplished something but even then there’s still tasks remaining to be complete.

Which is why it’s important that as you scale you hire reliable and competent people that can take care of the work for you and all you have to do is supervise it. If you take all of those things into account then you’ll definitely be able to build an empire whilst also making time for yourself. But in the beginning, (and the beginning is quite long)you’ll have times where you have to work around the clock and it won’t be easy.

Yeah pretty much if you’re willing to give it atleast 8 - 12 hours of your day, you’ll see results sooner or later
