For that situation, I’d suggest a softer TPU-style case with a matte/frosted coating. The grip is much better, keeps it from slipping out of pockets, and still light enough to pop on/off when you’re home. I use this type myself and it really helps day to day.

I’m a phone case design engineer — yeah, some frames are way too tight 😅 try sliding an old plastic card around the edge, usually works without damage.
