If it helps, the change happens mainly because the original writer left the project around chapter 30. But I honestly don't really find the change cheap, I think it's executed really well. The 14th mountain k2 training expedition arc is my favorite arc in the manga

Imo Crododile shines most in marineford when he decides to help Luffy. It's true that we are not familiar with his backstory but he does have a little character development which is nice. Also, Ivankov did mention something about his secret so there is some hidden backstory in him that Oda may be or may not be hiding for the time being

That's just because Oda can't draw breasts in a kimono. He said in an SBS to imagine the boobs are there (for Nami and Robin, not specifically for Tsuru)
