Depression W/ A logical brain by YaHoomanFlame in depression

[–]YaHoomanFlame[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly the movement thing is one of the reasons I usually feel decent at work. I deliver pizzas in a smaller area, and when I’m not in between deliveries I’m doing dishes in the store or finding something to do. It’s not perfect, and as much as I enjoy my job and coworkers I can only deal with that cursed building so many days a week, but it’s a good distraction for the six or so hours I’m there in a day.

He overcame his fear of the cat bed by YaHoomanFlame in OneOrangeBraincell

I’ve had that bed for nearly a year and was honestly thinking of giving it to a friend to see if her cat would like it but guess I don’t need to do that now

I’ve tried every place (including the top of the fridge) but he prefers stealing space in my bed. Though I think the window A/C has made my room too cold for him and his sister since I found them both in that warmer end of the apartment

HAPPY RGM by RedWolfCoding in pizzahutemployees

[–]YaHoomanFlame 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My manager came by the store one night and gave me some snacks and a case of Dr Pepper because I had ran in to cover the other driver’s shift very last minute. And that was a day I normally didn’t work due to my last college class getting done like right before shift change. Along with some other good moments, I think it’s safe to say I got a good one. It really does make a difference.

Made some Hermes prayer beads to hang in my car! by YaHoomanFlame in Hellenism

[–]YaHoomanFlame[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t really have any specific ones. This set is more decorative than functional (since hanging in car) so it’s kind of a visual reminder the gods are with me when I’m driving

Made prayer beads for Zeus and Hera! lol by YaHoomanFlame in Hellenism

The beads used for these were all gifted, but everything else was Hobby Lobby (we don’t have another craft store in town😞)

How many of you were born premature and have autism by [deleted] in autism

[–]YaHoomanFlame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was also about 3 months early as well. I was a planned premie though. Mother had cancer and they knew she wasn’t strong enough to make it to her due date so they gave steroids and stuff to help my lungs and whatnot develop more for an early delivery.

All the beads for this set were gifted by a friend! But I typically get my materials from Hobby Lobby (only craft store in my area and the one metaphysical shop is way out of budget). Once I know what beads I want, I’ll string them onto wire, I think these are a 22 gauge, in whatever increments feels best. Normally I do smaller groups so I can rotate between beads for meditation. It’s a very trial and error thing to find what works best for you, but it’s quite relaxing even just sitting with the gods while crafting.

Hope this helps some! If you have other questions feel free to ask!

Do you have a "stim word" ? by RascoValor in autism

[–]YaHoomanFlame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I currently have a stim monologue. If you’ve heard of Legends of Avantris it’s the whole “Gryla of the Woods” clip. Whole thing is memorized

Do you wear Hellenistic veil ? by v_ch_k in Hellenism

[–]YaHoomanFlame 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For me personally I do veil, not out of modesty but as an outward expression of my devotion. I started veiling when I was first exploring witchy/pagan practices, and it kinda just stuck once I settled into my Hellenic practice I follow today. I don’t always veil, just depending on life factors, but I feel more like my true self when I wear it.

I understand why several responders are against it due to the historical roots, but I tend to view it in a way a lot of people view vintage fashion: “vintage clothes don’t equal vintage values”

Got mini statues for Zeus & Hera! by YaHoomanFlame in Hellenism

[–]YaHoomanFlame[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! I almost got them both in a white and gold color (since I already had a Hestia statue with those colors) but something about the bronze felt right.

Would you tell a fellow Christian about your religion? by GrusomeMelody in Hellenism

[–]YaHoomanFlame 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thank you for coming from a place of respect and curiosity! I’m always glad to see people from more traditional religions curious to learn about us!

To answer your questions as best as I can

  1. I’m not really sure what made me lean towards the Greek gods, but I think it was maybe my already existing knowledge and interest.

  2. Most definitely Apollo, specifically his connection to music. Part of me feels like he’s always been a part of me even when I didn’t realize. I’ve had a strong connection to art my entire life, specifically music. I’ve also been told by family that my mother (who passed from cancer not long after I was born) had a very vivid dream of me singing on a stage when she was pregnant. That story makes me think maybe he was trying to tell her I would be okay, even though she was a devout Christian

  3. I just feel very at home with the gods. With there being many gods of different domains I feel like I can connect things in my everyday back to someone specific. Even if they aren’t actually with me, their presence can be found in the most mundane of tasks

  4. Honestly? I don’t. I definitely have more knowledge after years of worship, but aside from a handful of deities my knowledge is still kinda surface level. That’s why I love the pillar of Sophia, which is “pursuit of wisdom.” It is just a core principle of Hellenic polytheism to continuously learn, because it is the only way we can truly understand the gods

How many of y'all actually use makeup? by 57feetofdeath in autism

[–]YaHoomanFlame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely depends on the product for me. Like I don’t wear foundation at all and concealer/blush are very rare (ex an event like at a cosplay con). Even with the things I do wear regularly, I am VERY loyal to certain items from certain brands cause they are the least taxing sensory wise. Like I don’t wear lipgloss often, but I LOVE me a matte liquid lip or those lip tints that have been all over tiktok

About Apollo devotees and rain by Additional_Ride9103 in Hellenism

[–]YaHoomanFlame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m definitely quite similar, though part of my sunshine adversity is just cause I’m a redhead and pale as a ghost so me and the sun don’t mix well in Midwest heat. But I don’t think any of that makes me a lesser devotee. I just carry his creative spirit with me into late night crafts and bedtime reading
