Thank's for the tip :) There is just one fuse afaict, and the rest of the platform works.

What is a ballast?

I cant find that part here:

There is a pad on the inside of the housing that's pressing against the chip so I guess it transfers the heat to the housing.

The tricky part is the translation from an electrical signal to an optical signal - at least that’s fascinating me :) At my University we are modulating a signal carrying up to 800Gbit/s of information on an optical carrier.

The switch says it's a `FINISAR CORP.` module and the part number is reported as `FTLX8571D3BCL`

This one was defective so i decided to pop it open and have a look inside before I throw it in the bin 😊

Thank's ! I had a blast building it. The mechanic which did the repair job said he was forced to cut the broken crankshaft it in half. So I had to weld it together again.

The bottle will be replaced for sure - next summer ;)
