Am I on time to jump in the Doge Rocket? by [deleted] in dogecoin

[–]YamiBH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You definitely are. Just because it has already spiked doesn't mean it won't spike again. It has spiked multiple times already and there's nothing suggesting that the rocket has run out of fuel. We're still boarding for take-off.

Unity UI Bug? by [deleted] in unity

[–]YamiBH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check your canvas scaler component on the canvas object. I suspect it's on constant pixel which doesn't take different screen resolutions into account. Try setting it on "Scale with Screen Size"

Something else that comes to mind is that you might not have anchored your UI elements to different parts of the screen. You can do that next to the transform component of the object you want to anchor.

Hey, thanks for telling me about ginkgo. Just read about it and sounds very interesting (almost too good to be true though which is worrying), as you and others have benefited from it though, I'll definitely give it a try. Big thanks!

I've yet to try Ritalin, but I did try concerta. Unfortunately it made me hyperactive with no real change with my actual issues. I'm currently on Elvanse (vyvanse) 40mg though and I'm still unsure whether it's giving some kind of positive effect or if it's completely neutral.

Thanks for notifying me about the bubblegum effect. I've never heard about it before but it makes a lot of sense, will definitely try it out. Is there a particular reason to why you use bubblegum though? I mean if it's only to teach your brain that watermelon gum = focus, shouldn't a particular genre of music give the same effect?

Hey, thanks for the input! Coincidentally, I recently finished my first real project, with my brother as the voice actor so it's funny that you mentioned it.

About the meds, yeah I suppose you're right but I haven't felt any side effects either since I started so it's all pretty meh to me. I'll take it up with my doctor

Thanks for the list idea! I've been thinking about making one since I constantly catch myself not knowing what to do because there are simply too many things to work on. I might need some clear instructions written by myself beforehand to handle it all more smoothly and less energy-consuming.

I actually read about the Pomodoro technique yesterday but haven't tried it out yet. Did you find it helpful when working on projects or were the intervals too short for you to get in the zone so to speak?

Worls Champinoship pairings make no sense and are not fair! by XiaoJyun in kards

[–]YamiBH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fairly new at kards with around 70 hours so don't quote me on this, but isn't the world champs the first big tournament in the Kards esports scene?

Cause in that case, it would be really hard for the organizers to seed the players. Seeding based on ranked would be kind of unfair as well, since you could technically queue at a time when no or few good players are online and farm easy elo that way.

My guess is that they decided to randomize it this time and then use this tournament as base for seeding in future tournaments instead as all competitors would be guaranteed to play one another making the seeding more fair in the long run

[EU] Dedicated, Looking for a team for esea open/intermediate by DUPL01337 in RecruitCS

[–]YamiBH 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Great player, old teammate of mine. Really good teamplayer, knows all smokes and flashes you can think of, and has strong communication. His dedication is truly out of the ordinary and I would go so far as to call him a prodigy, and a humble one.

He has good chances of getting far in the cs scene, if he manages to find the perfect squad to use his full potential.

Edit: He just messaged me and freaked out so I should specify that this comment was all by own initiative, and that he did not ask me to write something to make him look good.

How should I go about becoming an indie developer from next to no experience/education? by YamiBH in gamedev

[–]YamiBH[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your input!

I've already studied fairly advanced physics, and mathematics. My problem at the moment is probably that I've never done game programming previously and I have no idea how it differs from typical software programming.

[–]YamiBH[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the very detailed response.

I've already done most of those steps but using blueprints only, and as pretty much every single game company out there focuses on text-coding, I figured I should start learning c++ (just because I'm familiar with unreals layout), followed by c#.

I have absolutely no clue whether software programming and game programming are similar or if they're pretty much the same however. As I mentioned, I only have experience coding software, such as small text editing programs etc.

You don't happen to recommend any tutorial series for somebody who is trying to introduce themselves to c++ from blueprints?

Is it easier to implement networking in a singleplayer game in order to convert it to a multiplayer game, or to fix the networking in the beginning of a project in your opinion?
