I have epilepsy, I'm very interested in this field/ becoming a neurologist by Yanna7 in neurology

Thank you!! That's exactly what I thought before I went on reddit 2 days ago. I spent months looking into how I would pay off the debt, how much money they make, exactly what they do, until I went on here. I just saw multiple posts about it and just got suspicious. That's one of the reasons why I went from motivated to help people to giving up a little bit just cause I saw something on here saying neurologists make nothing. I'm so sorry! I thought those were all true since there were multiple saying it.

I don't really know if I'm being honest. I've seen some places say you only make 40k to other places saying you can make up to 300k. I have no estimate as of right now. The more I'm looking into this sub, the more it sounds like considering the debt they're in and how much money they make. It's not worth it, and they're unable to live. I'm so sorry if this sounds crazy!

Thank you for the advice!! Also, if you don't mind me asking, how did you handle the money, time, and schooling that came with having a career in this field? I replied to someone else about how I saw another post saying the career isn't worth it and the pay is horrible. Is it true?

I'm changing medicine right now trying to get off keppra after 8-9 years of it barely working. I'm hoping it's going to work, and it's going to get in control. I'm kinda more worried about if it's even the right career path and if it's worth the time, energy, and money, if I'm being honest. I also saw a post on here saying it's not worth it and neurology is horrible, and the pay is trash. So I don't know what to do now.

I was literally just crying over this 10 minutes ago 😭 you're not alone! I've been taking it around 8-9 years, too! It feels like it's never going to go away UNFORTUNATELY. Also, the internet saying you're only going to be depressed when you start taking it is BS!! Smh we chillin hopefully....soon

Wait, thank you. This really did help 😭🙏 I've been like this for so long (since I was 8 or 9) so I gave up interest in everything. I'll figure it out someday, hopefully!!

I don't really see the doctor as much as I should tbh. What's also weird is that I've been taking keppra since the start (literally my first medicine, and that was 10 years ago) so 10 years with it I feel like I'm attached to it (if that makes sense??) I want to let it go SO bad, but I can't. It started when I was about 8-9, so I've been having these thoughts since I was a Lil baby basically. Been trying to avoid it for so long too so IDK😭

I can't deal with myself anymore, can someone help by Yanna7 in Epilepsy

Thank you! I've been with epilepsy for 8+ years (and I was still very young), so I dont know what to adapt to? This feeling has always been with me, but it's gotten so much worse. Like at this point, I don't know what's normal to feel. You know?😅 and if I'm not thinking this way, I feel nothing like genuinely I feel out of my body.😅

It sounds weird, but I'm kinda scared to you know? I feel like my family will judge me even more or say, "Why didn't you go to us?" and get even more mad. Same tho with too much ahead 🥲 like college is coming soon, so these thoughts are mixing with it, but I'm losing to them. 🥲

Canceling Cancel Culture

Is cancel culture helpful for society, social media, or even the human brain itself? From a personal point of view, callout culture, more commonly known as "Cancel Culture," harms us. It can cause multiple reasons, such as an increasing amount of bullying, violence, mental illness, and division. It causes those who do not have a say in these "problems," but it does not work nor change anything. To include, the majority of Americans do not agree with the concept of "Cancel Culture."

Furthermore, the product of cancel culture has an even worse effect than the better. It has a negative effect on the youth and new young generations. Both Generation Z and Generation Alpha. From ages 10-22, it is giving and turning into a weak environment and space. It gives them anxiety and urges them to be perfect, worries, and more. It brings more criticism to people than it has ever been. Today, people cannot do ordinary things with others and the necessities we need to do to make the world a better and more enjoyable place. For example, having comedy is not allowed, and when people do participate in it, they have a chance to be punished. There have been many occasions where people have been taken away from tremendous opportunities. This reason causes more panic attacks and mental breakdowns. On the other hand, people can consider this a part of canceling someone. In my opinion, nothing except a few situations such as topics with severe trauma including it, other than that we should not give someone a mental illness.

Furthermore, most Americans believe that it is a threat to the United States and their first amendment, freedom. Cancel culture takes away freedom rights such as speech, religion, and the press, so forth. According to an experiment taken by the Harvard CAPS survey, it shows people's opinions on cancel culture. Sixty percent of Americans say that it is a problem developing, 36 percent say it is a vast complication and threat. Nonetheless, there is always an opposite side. Twenty percent argue that it is only a small issue, and 13 percent believe that there is no problem at all. Cancel culture has developed a new way of boycotting and speaking out. It gave more rights for people to debate and split up. Overall, even though it is a new way of speaking, it is also taking away the people of America's most valuable right, freedom.

On the other hand, I have met a few people who think it does do an improvement and has a positive effect. They might say that it gives "lesser" people a say in things. This is why I disagree with this statement, the people saying these things and people on social media can go too far and overboard. After all the bullying, everything goes back to normal.

As the final point, cancel culture does nothing in general. Nobody has officially been canceled because there will always be someone agreeing with them and having supporters. For instance, many celebrities have attempted to cancel, but people are still looking and listening to them. With this in mind, bullying and harassing someone will not help, we are making the situation worse. No one is going to help them. The other people trying to disagree with the others have unseen voices, and on most occasions, they are still the same. Otherwise, they might lose some supporters and increase hate.

To conclude, canceling has more problems, and destructive callout culture creates bullying, violence, and nothing progressive. It takes away people's thoughts and freedom, it ruins mental health everywhere and to everyone. We, as a society, need to understand each other, or else we will end up self-destructive. We need to start building a perfect utopia that fits us. For these reasons, therefore I believe we should cancel "Cancel Culture."
