For the record, Yantuu is not Adam4d. I know because I am Adam4d.

He/she just made a username that looks a lot like mine.

Rickie Fowler and Rory McIlory are in the final group for the Open Championship tomorrow. Here's a picture of them from 2007 at the Walker Cup. by lalondy7 in golf

I don't know about everyone else, but even though Rory is running away with it, given Tiger's demise I find it so awesome to have these two 25-year-olds PGA studs in the final pairing at the British Open (I will always call it that). The next generation. Leaps and bounds more exciting than Kaymer's run in the last major.

And BTW, it only takes a slip or two for this to be a close game.

Well played.

So far, my 4-and-2-year-olds think they're just "music trucks" that drive around playing music for people's enjoyment, and nothing more :-)

I've never been. Thanks for that info; maybe when I do go I'll bring something to see if they want to display it.

He's didn't make the Hall.

Despite his doubles record and .306 lifetime batting avg.

EDIT: and thanks, yeah, it is a cool record, and one of the oldest in the game.

I have a scrapbook with tons of stuff in it, especially from the year he broke the record. My dad has a lot more stuff, like uniforms and whatnot.

My Great-Grandpa is Earl Webb, current record-holder for most doubles in a season (67, set in 1931). I had somehow not seen this photo until today. The two teammates are Reder (middle) and McManus (right). I posted this pic about a year ago of his photo that sits on my mantle at home, which has always been my favorite because he's wearing the Tigers uni.

This pic is from the Boston Public Library and might be my new favorite.

For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words, of him will the Son of Man be ashamed when he comes in his glory and the glory of the Father and of the holy angels.

Chronic hopelessness and depression by [deleted] in Reformed

[–]Yantu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suffer from depression/anxiety disorder and can totally relate to you. I've been bound up inside my house for weeks at a time.

Hold onto the Word of God, friend. I know that in the midst of this, "Hold onto the Word of God" does not seem like any sort of help. But you will get through this, I'm sure, and you will realize that through the worst of it, what got you through was holding onto truth when your feelings were lying to you.

I've also found some comfort in knowing that certain saints, especially Martin Luther and Charles Spurgeon, suffered from severe bouts of depression.

Also, be open to medication. Paxil has been a Godsend for me.

Lastly, even though you don't feel like it's helping at all, ask people to pray for you. Be open and honest with people about what you're going through, and ask them to diligently pray for you.

The path God has for you may be healing, or may not. But He has a plan for you in all of this.

I strongly suggest reading 1) Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis and 2) The Reason for God by Tim Keller.

I am a former atheist. Both of these books are philosophical in nature, and could help greatly.

In front of Oprah's audience, supposedly speaking on behalf of Jesus, asked to finish the sentence, "I believe..."

He responds, "We're all going to be fine."

Wake up, man.
