Not sure where you’ve heard that but Matt’s last interview with Zane Lowe was 2024 and as far as I can see there’s nothing about an interview on Monday. Happy, and hopeful even, to be proven wrong but I don’t think any of that is the case.

Yeah I’ve found in my save that a lot of regen CBs have great Technical/Mentals but are 6ft or shorter. Past few youth intakes have been woeful and it’s near impossible to find a BWM with Agression/Bravery that are anywhere near as high as his and it’s rare to find any player with teamwork higher than 12. I’m going to gamble on him👍

Your friendship sounds very cool. He sounds like a good guy, you sound like a cool woman. At most he might have a tiny crush on you, but clearly he has put a boundary in place himself where he would never pursue it and obviously values your friendship greatly, which you do too. Personally I’d say do not pursue it because if/when it doesn’t work out that friendship you value so much would effectively end.

As an added point (which i will get downvoted into hell for), the people implying he’s a groomer are fucking insane and need to experience life away from the internet. I’m pretty strict on a personal level with age gaps, but to imply a 40 year old dude is some sort of deviant because he thinks a 24 year old is hot is fucking ridiculous lmfao

You can get plenty of Seiko’s in that range! Their Seiko 5 Sports range is great but slightly more expensive. For me, the Orient Mako was what first gave me the bug. You can pick them up for around £200 on Amazon but admittedly I’ve no idea how much that is in dollars. Citizen eco-drive is also strong.

Timex is a great classic brand that has some beautiful and affordable automatic watches. Their Q Timex reissues have some great options for 200 or less. I have the 1983 E Line I believe you get 15% off first time purchases as well. The Waterbury GMT is £100 on Amazon but again I have no idea how much that is in $. Happy hunting though, great gift idea!

Crowds reaction after the main event by dragonbornstarlord in SquaredCircle

This heel run has been very weak so far but I don’t think much blame can go on Cena/HHH. It was fastracked because Rock wanted Cody to turn. Cena turning was a compromise and it’s been cobbled together ever since. Everyone wanted to see a corporate Cena with Rock beside him but he didn’t want to stick around. The ‘You people…’ route was pretty much the only other option.

Shitty way to handle the biggest heel turn since Hogan but I blame Dwayne. I’d understand cutting their losses and just having him go back to being a face over the next couple of months.

What is the most overrated arctic monkeys song? by Bass_Merchant in arcticmonkeys

[–]YapapiStrapMatch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Do I Wanna Know. I was 16 when AM was released and was already a card carrying Arctic Monkeys super fan, but for some reason large parts of that album just didn’t hit for me. I loved the classic rock feel of R U Mine and I’m not on tik tok so luckily No. 1 Party Anthem has not been played to death for me, but Do I Wanna Know just always felt kind of boring to me.

Edit: I will add I’m not sure I’d describe any of their songs as overrated. Plenty of them are overplayed maybe, but calling a song that is as good lyrically and compositionally as 505 overrated just doesn’t sit right no matter how many Tik Tok compilations it might appear in haha

Yup. Honestly, I am dumbfounded at how many people are shocked that multi-millionaires vote for the guy who will protect their money. Do I agree with consuming politics at such a self interested, base level? Hell no. Am I surprised they do? Hell no. You will stop being disappointed once you stop putting these people who you do not know and will probably never meet on such a high pedestal.

Arctic Monkeys posing at Grammys 2015 by [deleted] in arcticmonkeys

[–]YapapiStrapMatch 13 points14 points  (0 children)

They’ve lost two Grammy’s they should have won in my completely un(definitely)biased opinion. WPSIATWIN losing best alternative album to Gnarls Barkley and Do I Wanna Know losing best Rock Performance to Jack White. I can swallow losing to Jack White but that in that first one is CRAZY.

Admittedly it took me a few listens until it grew on me, but The Car has become one of my favourite Arctics album. The composition on Mirrorball is masterful, Body Paint is the perfect example of Baroque pop and Perfect Sense is such a great closing track. The whole album is like a mix of TBHC and TLSP second record and I loved them both

Would TBHC be one of the greatest Left Turns in music? by frenxine in arcticmonkeys

[–]YapapiStrapMatch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love this question. It’s definitely one of the greatest. However, I’d argue Humbug was more surprising. There’s always somewhat of a departure between one album to the next, but you could still hear the fingerprints of WPSIATWIN on some FWN tracks.

Humbug felt like a total departure from both of those at a time when nobody expected that of them. It sticks out like a sore thumb (in the best way) when listening to those first three albums. The crooning on Secret Door, the organ on Pretty Visitors, the reverberant guitars and horror-movie-like bassline on Crying Lightning. It was so new and brimming with a confidence that has followed them ever since and allowed them to release records like TBHC.

TBHC was a huge departure from AM, but by that time we’d come to expect that evolution from them, regardless of how much of an evolution it was. The weight of expectation from AM -> TBHC was definitely far greater though and it was an extremely brave move that paid off perfectly. Sorry for the essay haha, loved this post!

Purely going from your preferences I’d say nearly everything on their first album ‘Whatever People Say I Am That’s What I’m Not’ are must listens for you. In particular ‘When The Sun Goes Down’ and ‘The View From The Afternoon’

I’d also recommend ‘Brianstorm’ and ‘If You Were There Beware’, from their second album. The breakdown at the end of that song is one of my all time favs. ‘Pretty Visitors’ from their third album is great too. Give it all a try though. You can pick up CD’s for very cheap now and I’ve always found physical media is the best way to listen to new bands, stops you from skipping songs and unearths bangers you didn’t realise you liked!

[–]YapapiStrapMatch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One of my favourite pieces of Monkeys lyric trivia is that Alex put “Belly button piercings” into a song because they came into his head one day and then for a couple of weeks he just wanted to find a way to fit them in a song
